Omega Lost

Chapter 30

**Sebastian**

As soon as Elena starts talking I'm struck by what she's telling me. If she had told anyone else about this there is a big chance that they wouldn't believe her. The story she's telling is far-fetched. "...The bag was only big enough for a child. I was scared and knew I needed to escape and tell someone what was going on." She stops and sucks in a breath.

I haven't spoken once to interrupt her but my mind is swarming with questions. They'll have to wait. She looks as if she needs to get everything out first, and the more she can tell me the better I can understand what she saw.

"My roommate caught me and I spilled to her everything I saw. She had already hated the whole Omega School system since she had been moved several times. It's almost as if she knew something dark was going on, but never saw any real proof. She convinced me that we needed to find a way down there to see what was going on. As scared as I was I agreed. Seeing a bag with a dead child was enough for me to want to know everything. We stole a card for the elevator and waited for night."

My little Omega is a smart one. An odd sense of pride for the fact she stole something blooms in my chest. She's resourceful.

"We almost made it." Her next breath comes out shaky and I can see her emotions grow sad. "The president of the school told us that this was my roommate's last chance and that she would be sent away again. I was let off with a warning. My roommate never came back. I knew that I needed to finish the mission without her. The president knew what we were doing and I didn't know if she would move everything. I needed to find out what was going on and then I would run and make sure they would be exposed."

Smart little Omega.

"The next night I was ready to go. I would find proof and then run away. Only things didn't go as planned. When I went down there...I saw lab equipment. Like chemists use. There were hallways on both sides so I picked one and followed it. I stopped at a door and was nearly sick. There was a huge room filled with rows of medical beds. Each one had a woman on it who looked like they were sleeping. They were connected to IVs and some of them were clearly pregnant. And I saw...my roommate there. They didn't send her away. They locked her in some lab." A soft sob escapes her and I have the strongest urge to comfort her, but I need to know everything.

I need to be clearheaded and remember each detail. If the time ever comes that we need to tell this story it will only be more believable if both of us knew about it. I won't let her face this alone.

"I walked further down the hallway and heard people coming. So I hid in one of the dark rooms. That's when I noticed cribs and there was Eli. He was in pup form and I knew he was the proof of everything they were doing down there, and I couldn't leave him knowing that a child had already died there. So I took him and ran. We were chased but I was able to get us to the closest home to the school and we hid. The people were kind enough to feed us but as soon as the day came we ran again. That's when I saw you. After I saw you I started feeling this pain that nearly made me pass out, so I moved in the direction that eased the pain. That's how we ended up in the alley you found us in." She sucks in a needy breath before blowing out.

Her body is shaking a little as if she is feeling the adrenaline of that day again and just now realizes she's safe. The fact that she trusts me not only with her safety but with this information makes me beyond happy. I watch her for another minute. She won't look at me and by the way she's biting her bottom lip, I think she's worried about me. I haven't said anything or even moved. This is probably a good time to tell her what I might know about our bond. It still isn't confirmed but she has the right to know even the smallest details.

"Sebastian?" Her voice sounds small and nervous which breaks me out of my thoughtful state.

"Hm?"

"I understand if you want me to leave-"

"What? Why would I want that?" I quickly say looking at her in shock.

"You look...mad and you haven't said anything." She points at me.

Shit. I move closer and grab the hand she has clenched on her lap. With a little coaxing, she opens it and I take it between mine.

"I'm not mad. I wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything you said. There was a lot to take in, but there was nothing you did or said that could make me mad at you. You were brave and smart to do what you did. I'm fucking proud of you." Her face blushes and a small hint of a smile appears at the corner of her mouth. "Really?"

"Yeah. Not many would risk doing what you did. Saving Eli was the right thing to do. Otherwise, who knows what would have happened to him? Now we need to use what you know to get to the bottom of what the hell is going on. I need to call Miles." I take out my phone but her body tenses.

When I look at her again her eyes are wide. "Why?"

"He's a lawyer. He will be able to find out a lot more than we can on our own. We need to find more evidence if we are going to stop this." The edge in my voice makes her flinch. "Sorry."

She shakes her head. "It's okay. I think I'm just on edge after all that. What if your friend doesn't believe me?" Her big worried eyes cuts me up inside.

I know Miles would believe her, but she is right to worry. It's quite a story, but honestly the way that Omegas are coveted it wouldn't surprise me what people are willing to do. But are they trying to breed more Omegas? If she then how? They would need donors. Do the Alphas agree to impregnat the Omegas or is it all done quietly? Shit.

"I trust Miles with my life and he's been my friend my whole life. He'll believe you. We're going to figure this out." I assure her and she finally relaxes.

There's a knock on the front door so I reluctantly release her so I can answer it. One of the guards is waiting.

"Alpha." He hands me the boxes of our food.

"Thank you."

He nods and walks back to one of the SUVS we use for patrols. I carry the food inside and set it down on the table in front of the couch.

"Wow. That smells so good." Elena says with wide eyes.

"Tastes even better." I open the lid and wave at it. "Dig in. I'll grab us some drinks. What sounds good? Coke? Iced tea?"

She blinks at me. "I've never had...coke? So iced tea is fine."

"Of course." I headed for the kitchen pulled out a beer for me and decided to bring both coke and iced tea for her.

When I return to the living room she hasn't moved. She's looking at the food like it's a problem she can't solve. "Have you had pizza before?" I ask.

She shakes her head. "Our meals at the Omega School are specifically designed to keep us in top health. We weren't allowed bread or added sugars, no red meats, and a small assortment of fruits and vegetables." "Really?"

"Yeah. We couldn't contaminate our bodies and risk causing health conditions that would make us less desirable to the Alphas. We needed to be pure in every way."

Well, shit.

"I don't want to push you to eat this, but it's really good. Maybe try just one piece and see how you feel." I consider the fact that jumping into the world of junk food after how long she's had such a strict diet might be a struggle for her digestion. "I should have thought this through more."

She shakes her head quickly. "You didn't know. I should have said something sooner."

I scratch the back of my head trying to work through another option but it's pretty late so there isn't much else we can do.

"I'll try it."

"Okay. Stop if you start to feel sick at all." I warn her and she nods but still doesn't move.

I grab one of the plates they provided and set a piece on it for her. She takes it hesitantly from me and lifts the slice to her mouth. My eyes watch her mouth as she takes her first bite and when the most beautiful moan escapes her I have to bite back my own.

Fuck, this is torture...
