No Escape From the Ex-husband by Summer Winters

Chapter 128

Chapter 0128

Kendrick stared intensely at Samantha as if trying to see into her soul through her

eyes.

After saying that, Samantha didn’t flinch and continued to stare at him. Both were

willing to break eye contact, making their gazes lock in a silent standoff.

After a while, Kendrick spoke first. “Your face is different from hers.”

Except for those lively eyes that Samantha possessed, everything else was different.

“Oh?” Samantha raised an eyebrow and chuckled coldly. “I thought you were blind

and couldn’t tell.”

Samantha knew Kendrick didn’t believe she was really Sophia. Otherwise, he

wouldn’t repeatedly test her.

However, she wasn’t afraid, confident that her identity was meticulously fabricated.

She believed in Francis’ capabilities.

Yet she also reminded herself not to underestimate Kendrick.

“Do you?” Kendrick asked in a low voice. “Ms. Meadows, you’ve mentioned that the

Duncan family has helped you, so Samantha has helped you too. You should be

happy when I bring her up.”

Unyielding, Samantha responded with a clear voice, devoid of unnecessary

emotions. “Yes, under normal circumstances, I would be delighted to hear about

Samantha from you. However, you seem to have forgotten how she died.”

Suddenly, Kendrick’s b*dy tensed, and his expression changed slightly. The passionate atmosphere between them seemed to dissipate with his stiffness.

Being so close to him, Samantha naturally sensed him going rigid. A wave of disdain

welled up in her heart.

She felt that Samantha must be like a thorn in Kendrick’s eye.

Back then, she pursued him relentlessly, and in the end, she met such a fate. When

her name was brought up, this was his reaction.

A chill ran through Samantha’s heart.

She had endured three years of hardship, only to end up divorced. Her family was almost ruined, and to top it off, she was left disfigured. All of this was because of this

man in front of her.

A deep hatred surged in Samantha’s heart, and some emotions even leaked from her

eyes.

Kendrick, affected by Samantha’s words, also had a change in his emotions. He

averted his gaze first, so he didn’t see the hatred in Samantha’s eyes when she

looked at him.

But he fully received the sarcasm in her words.

Kendrick straightened up, creating some distance between them, but he didn’t let go.

of her. “I’ve said it before. Don’t mention her in front of me.”

Samantha blinked innocently. “Mr. Ford, you seem to forget easily. It was you who

brought her up, wasn’t it?”

She pouted, and her innocent gaze contained a hint of cu nning. “You asked me if

Samantha was really dead, and I merely answered your question.”

Kendrick realized that the woman in front of him had a way with words, making

him have the urge to silence her.

Although he didn’t believe Samantha was dead, he couldn’t stand others, especially this woman who claimed to be Sophia but was seemingly Samantha, repeatedly

mentioning her name.

If Samantha had indeed died, as Sophia had said, then Samantha had taken away the

child he never knew existed and never had had the chance to meet.

Thinking about it made Kendrick feel extremely uneasy. He forced himself not to

dwell on those thoughts, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t control it.

He released Samantha abruptly and walked back to his chair, sitting down.

Samantha understood that her words had once again hit Kendrick hard, and she felt

a sense of satisfaction.

She didn’t care why Kendrick cared about Samantha’s death, but she knew that she

could use it in the future.

She could witness Kendrick lose control and achieve her goals at the same time.

What was not to love about that?

“Mr. Ford, as I mentioned before, I can agree to attend the press conference and not

mention Linda. But I want something in return.

She reiterated her stance, showing no signs of retreat. Her father’s illness had persisted for many years, and though a cure was no longer possible, Samantha still

hoped he could receive better medical treatment.

Even if it couldn’t cure him, she wished to alleviate his suffering as much as

possible.

“As far as I know, you’ve been providing the medicine for Mr. Duncan’s illness. I hope you’ll continue to do so. If possible, I would like him to be transferred to the private hospital under Ford Corporation for better treatment.”

Ford Corporation’s private hospital was one of the best in the country. Over the years, Kendrick had spent a considerable amount of money recruiting top-notch doctors in the country. Among them, some were authorities in their fields with significant achievements internationally.

Naturally, ordinary citizens couldn’t afford such a top-notch hospital. Therefore, Ford Corporation’s private hospital was also referred to as an aristocratic hospital.

Upon hearing this, Kendrick narrowed his eyes. “Ms. Meadows, you’re such a good person for repaying favors to a former sponsor like this.”

If Sophia were just Sophia, judging by the investigation results, her repayment to the Duncan family, who had once assisted her, would indeed seem touching.
