Chapter 24 ✔
AIDEN
It had been a few days since Jayvee, and I last talked. Yes, we saw each other every day and swapped small remarks but we couldn’t find the time to actually sit down and talk about important stuff.
I sighed as I walked through the halls. It was the end of the day, so I was heading toward my car.
I understood why Jayvee wasn’t talking about my concern. It was a tricky subject. How do you help your partner understand that you’re in reality if you don’t truly know for yourself?
The sun was bright as I left the building. Jayvee didn’t have classes, so I had driven myself. I walked to the car and nearly jumped out of my skin when someone jumped out from behind it.
“Surprise!” Luna shouted.
I put my hand on my heart as I breathed heavily. “What the fuck Luna? What are you doing here?” I asked as I opened the driver’s door to put my things away.
“I was in town and saw your car. Thought I would surprise you. Did it work?” she giggled while leaning against the hood of the car from the side.
“Yes, you did, but I need to go home now.”
She scoffed, “Cato still keeping you on a tight leash?” she asked causing me to pause.
“I’m not with Cato anymore, we broke up almost a month ago,” I said letting go of the door handle and leaning against the door. “I’m with a new guy, Jayvee.”
“As long as he treats you right, bro. I’m gonna let you go but don’t just disappear again alright?” She said giving me a hug. I nodded to her as she walked away.
I got in my car and started my drive home. My brain wouldn’t shut off the entire ride.
As I pulled into the dirt road that led to the packhouse, Forest came up to the car and started to run next to it. I smiled at him as I continued to drive. When I pulled the car to a stop, he jump up so his front paws were on the window, and his tail was wagging behind him. “What a dork,” I said as I unbuckled and got out of the car.
Forest backed away and allowed me to get out but as soon as the door closed, he was pinning me to the car in human form.
“Hello love, how was class?” he asked while he rubbed his cheek against mine.
I wrapped my arms around his chest and murmured “Fine,” I sighed and pulled my face away from him. “Jay and I need to finish our conversation, but before that can you carry me to our apartment?” I asked while pouting my lip.
He chuckled while picking me up.
