Chapter 1110 Recalling the Past
She was truly afraid of Lyra.
Although she was not a good person either, she couldn't bring herself to kill someone.
Lyra, however, was indifferent. She even had the heart to kill her boyfriend who had been with her for three years. Such a woman was really terrifying. The last time she went to see Lyra, the latter almost killed her.
If it weren't for her connection with Julien, Lyra would have killed her. After all, if she died, her grandfather would definitely ask Julien to look into it.
In short, after that incident, she became scared of Lyra. She could only escape abroad alone, keeping her love for Julien a secret because she couldn't compete with Lyra.
But what she didn't expect was that fate smiled upon her. Soon after she arrived abroad, she heard that Lyra had been left in a vegetative state after a car accident. At that time, she laughed joyously for more than ten minutes and went to celebrate at a bar in the evening.
Lyra became a vegetable, which meant that Erin no longer had to fear Lyra, and she didn't have to stay abroad indefinitely. She could return home at any time and continue to pursue Julien until he fell in love with her.
However, before she could return home, she heard about a woman named Sydney. In the name of Lyra's rescuer, Sydney forced Julien to marry her, and he agreed.
Enraged by the news, Erin immediately bought a plane ticket to go back home.
But just as she arrived at the airport, her grandfather called her, saying that Finn, a medical genius, had gone abroad to study neurology and psychiatry with the intention of awakening Lyra. Finn was renowned throughout the world as a medical prodigy. Though he was young, every surgery he performed had a 100% success rate. None of his operations had ever failed. According to her grandfather, Finn had people check on Lyra before going abroad. Based on the results, he estimated a 70% chance of successfully awakening her once he completed his studies. In other words, Lyra was bound to wake up. And during that time, to protect Lyra, Julien transferred her to a place no one could find.
The news made Erin feel both angry and jealous.
Julien loved Lyra so deeply. Even when Lyra became a vegetable, he still prevented anyone from harming her.
And Finn had even gone abroad to study just to awaken Lyra.
Lyra was like the darling daughter of God.
Knowing that Lyra would wake up, Erin reluctantly gave up the idea of going back. She tore up the plane ticket and left the airport. Although she couldn't go back and drive Sydney away, she was not worried. Once Lyra woke up, Sydney would surely be finished.
Sure enough, six years later, Lyra finally woke up. As soon as she opened her eyes, Julien divorced Sydney.
Upon hearing this news, Erin felt both happy and troubled.
She was happy because the woman who threatened Julien had finally been driven away. She was troubled because Lyra was even more difficult to deal with.
Erin was so scared that she even considered giving up on Julien. There was no way she could beat that formidable woman.
Just as she was torn, Lyra and Sydney were someone locked in a fight.
Her grandfather had been helping her keep an eye on the two women. She learned that Lyra had repeatedly taken action against Sydney because Lyra couldn't accept the fact that she was disabled and that Sydney had married Julien.
Erin was ecstatic, hoping the two women would perish together.
Although she didn't believe that Sydney could defeat Lyra, the fact that Sydney could threaten Julien and succeed proved that she wasn't a simple character. Even if Sydney failed in the end, Lyra would not end up well either.
By then, Erin might have a chance of beating Lyra.
Determined to benefit from the tussle, she dismissed the idea of making a move and secretly kept a close eye on these two women.
As it turned out, Sydney was indeed not an ordinary character. She could hold her own against Lyra and even counterattack successfully. This made Erin start to believe that Sydney could vanquish Lyra. Sure enough, the battle between the two women was intense. Although it was Lyra who made deadly moves against Sydney, the fact that Sydney could defend herself and survive proved her abilities. In the end, Sydney managed to defeat Lyra, causing Julien to despise Lyra, cancel the engagement, find evidence to prove that Lyra wasn't really a member of the Madden family, and ultimately drive her out.
Lyra was completely defeated. She lost not only Julien but also her position in the Madden family. She was isolated and sentenced. Later, Erin learned that Lyra went insane in prison and was transferred to a mental hospital where she committed suicide by jumping off a building.
While Erin rejoiced in the outcome, she also felt a chilling sensation. It was brought by Sydney.
Sydney could even defeat a terrifying woman like Lyra and drive her to jump off the building.
It could be seen how terrifying Sydney was.
Sydney had threatened Julien to marry her back then, and now that Lyra was gone, she might be able to coerce Julien into remarrying her.
Her speculation later proved correct. Not long after Lyra's death, she heard from her grandfather that Julien was pursuing Sydney and wanted to get back together with her.
She found it hard to believe.
The one Julien loved was Lyra. Although he stopped loving her in the end, he couldn't possibly fall for Sydney.
Otherwise, he should have already fallen in love with her during their six years of marriage. How could he possibly fall for her not long after their divorce?
There must be some unknown reason behind Julien's pursuit of Sydney.
Perhaps Sydney had threatened Julien with something again, and Julien had to agree.
It might be her revenge for Julien's indifference for six years. It was shameless of her to force Julien to pursue her.
God knew how much she wished to go back and help Julien drive away that woman, freeing him from her coercion.
But Sydney brought even greater pressure than Lyra did, making Erin hesitant to go back and confront her.
Erin had to endure it and chose to observe abroad. Her grandfather and father agreed with her, advising her not to act rashly.
However, the longer she stayed abroad, the more restless she became. Whenever she saw online discussions about Julien and Sydney's activities and their display of affection, she would be consumed with jealousy.
This was just a tentative move she made.
She hadn't decided to confront Sydney yet because she was not sure how much more difficult it was to deal with Sydney than Lyra.
