Chapter 1087 Regret of Leaving No Evidence
Now that Julien had taken his things, he couldn't make Julien loosen his grip and return them.
However, Dallin was not the type of person to swallow his pride.
Since Julien was richer and more powerful, he couldn't openly confront Julien. But in secret, he could still throw obstacles in Julien's path and make him feel upset. Neil understood Dallin's intentions, and a trace of excitement appeared on his face. He immediately nodded and said, "Okay. I'll be going on my mission."
"Go ahead." Dallin waved his hand.
Neil quickly left.
Dallin picked up the remote control and pressed the Play button.
The singing and acting resumed.
However, his interest had been spoiled.
Unaware of Dallin's plan, Julien arrived at the police station with Sydney.
After parking the car, he was about to unfasten his seat belt when his phone rang.
It was Zack calling.
Sydney noticed and released her hand from the door handle. "Take it first."
"Give me a moment." Julien nodded slightly and swiped his thumb across the screen before putting the phone to his ear. "Hello?"
"Mr. Flint, our plan has succeeded. After hearing the information leaked by our people, Mr. Sharp immediately left for the Mineral Resources Bureau to check the files on the mine collapse." Zack's excited voice came through the phone.
"I see." Julien hummed.
"Unfortunately, the key evidence from back then has been erased by Brandon. Otherwise, he would definitely be sentenced to death. Now, we can only make him pay a hefty settlement as retribution. It's quite ironic." Zack sighed in regret.
Julien pursed his lips and then looked at Sydney. "I'm partly responsible for this. When Brandon was handling some of the evidence back then, he asked me for help. That's how I knew about this. If I had stopped him or secretly obtained the evidence beforehand, he wouldn't have been so lucky."
Seeing his remorseful look, Sydney patted his hand and smiled. "It's not your fault. You were hypnotized and believed that you loved Lyra. And since Brandon is Lyra's father, it was normal that you agreed to help him. I just didn't expect it to be related to this matter."
"I didn't know that Brandon needed people to clear up the evidence. If I had known, I wouldn't have helped him. Although I protected him because of Lyra, I still had my principles. After all, it involved the lives of 15 people," Julien said, his brow furrowing.
Although he didn't care about others, he wouldn't stoop so low as to play with people's lives and destroy the evidence as Brandon did.
"What? 15 lives?" Sydney gasped, shocked by the casualties revealed by Julien.
Julien nodded. "That's right. I was shocked too when I found out. When Brandon asked me for help, I didn't know what he was planning, and neither did I ask about it. It wasn't until my men came back that I learned about everything. It was my negligence."
If he had known that, he wouldn't have helped Brandon.
"It was not your fault." Sydney smiled at him and said, "No one knew he would do such a thing. And even if you had asked, he wouldn't have honestly told you."
"I'm just regretful. I could have helped you obtain key evidence against Brandon, but I missed it." Julien rubbed his temples, his eyes filled with regret.
Sydney tucked her hair behind her ear and said, "Don't beat yourself up. Nobody can predict what will happen in the future, including you. So, you don't have to feel guilty. Maybe it's fate that we couldn't defeat Brandon so easily. Although we can't defeat him now, we can still weaken him. After he is thrown into prison, he'll realize the great loss. Wouldn't that be a harsher punishment for him?"
Sydney covered her lips and laughed.
Julien looked at her for a while, then rubbed her head and said, "You're right."
"Alright, go ahead with your call. Don't make Zack wait for too long." Sydney lifted her chin, gesturing for him to look at his phone.
Julien put the phone back to his ear and said, "Keep an eye on Brandon and try your best to secretly help Mr. Sharp with his investigation. If his investigation leads in the wrong direction, correct it. This time, I'll deal Brandon a heavy blow."
A cold gleam flashed in his eyes.
Zack nodded. "Will do. By the way, our plan against Dallin is also going smoothly. We have intercepted all the goods which are high-quality products from abroad. Sure enough, Dallin has invested a lot."
"This batch of goods is meant to open the Jademerian market, so they have to be of good quality. But they are our now," Julien said, and a faint smile curled up his lips.
Zack scratched his head, "But, the Flint Corporation doesn't engage in the processing of goods. Having those goods is useless to us."
"Send them to Skylight Corporation." Julien made a prompt decision.
Sydney looked up in surprise. "Why send them to Skylight Corporation?"
"Skylight Corporation specializes in goods processing, isn't it?" Julien turned to look at her.
"Yes, but we only do heavy industrial parts processing. I did some research on Sullivan Corporation before. Their main business is the production of electrical engine components. So, I can roughly guess that the batch of goods you intercepted should be engine bearings or chips. Even if I have those, I can't process them," Sydney chuckled.
"The large-scale processing machines you ordered from Kingthene can be modified to process and assemble engines. You can give it a try. If the engine processing is successful, Skylight Corporation can expand its business. It will be beneficial for its growth," Julien suggested.
Sydney was taken aback. "Can it be done this way?"
On the phone, Zack echoed, "Mr. Flint is right. The large-scale processing machines you ordered can indeed be modified to handle delicate tasks like engine processing."
Now that Zack also supported this idea, Sydney's heart started beating faster. She was tempted, but she couldn't make a final decision.
Reform was not a small matter, and she couldn't make a hasty decision.
Seeing Sydney's hesitation, Julien held her hand and softly kissed it. "Don't worry. It's just an experiment. Besides, these goods were snatched from Dallin. Consider it compensation for the goods he stole from you last time. We have nothing to lose, and this is a great opportunity, so why don't you give it a try?"
