Chapter 46
Chapter 46
Corvina drew in a long breath. This was no minor incident.
She furrowed her brows and asked again, "What about Alexis Armstrong?"
"She's at the hospital as well. Her right hand is fractured." The student was even a little seared as they spoke.
Teenagers roughhousing at school was nothing new to Corvina. Still, no student had ever gone so far as to disable another,
They found Lily rather astonishing. Shortly after her arrival, she incapacitated two students. One of them was even the scion of Bridgeport's Dalton family. The student didn't even dare to imagine what would happen to Lily.
"Alright." Convina had reached a point of acceptance. "You may leave."
After the student lett, Corda quickly called Joseph.
"Mr. Woodley, are you in the office? Corvina sounded quite anxious.
"Yes." On the other end of the call, Joseph's mire was gravelly.
"I'm heading over right now." Corvia practically ran the entire way there. She dared not dawdle
This matter was beyond her jurisdiction as Head of Student Affairs. It had to be resolved by the principal himself
Corvina knocked at the door. Once Joseph responded, she rushed in and quickly informed Joseph of everything.
"That's it?" Joseph looked at Corvina calmly, his murky eyes placid.
Corvina was taken aback. Why the principal was not at all anxious was beyond her.
The Dalton family's scion was injured at Ember Creek Corvina feared they wouldn't be able to quell the Dalton family's rage.
"Mr. Woodley, this is quite serious. You ought to quickly decide how to deal with it" Convinawas frazzled.
"What's there to decide?" Joseph cast Corvina a sidelong glance, picked up his fountain pen, and continued to write with his head down. He was serene. "Let them deal with it on their own. It's not the first time Jack has bullied a fellow student in school. It's a good thing someone pulled him down a peg"
"But..he's from the Dalton family," Corvina said, worried
Joseph limed his gaze slightly. "So? He gets to do whatever he wants in school because he's a Dalton? Corvina, you've been with Ember Creek for over ten years. I'm sure you've noticed the state of it in recent years.
"If this continues, Ember Creek will cease to be a place of education but rather a stepping stone for those scions. Do you want to see the place you've worked at for over a decade turn into that?" Joseph had penned a single line. He had not written it well; it was slightly skewed.
He decided to just set the pen down, pick up a mug of tea, and take a sip
Corvina opened her mouth and then sighed. "I understand as well. In Ember Creek, most of the students, as well as the teachers, are from affluent families. Ember Creek is entirely different now. Given its current state, is it really possible for us to change it? What if the Daltons show up to make trouble?"
She continued, "You personally recruited Lily Brooks, right? If the Daltons go after her, what are you going to do?" Joseph glanced at her, indifferent. "The Daltons won't dare to give Lily trouble unless they want to vanish from Bridgeport" Corvina froze. A sudden realization came to her. "Who is Lily, exactly?"
Joseph flashed an odd smile. "She's someone the Dalton family can't mess with."
At that, Joseph waved his hand and said, "Alright, you can return to your work. All you have to do is watch from the sidelines."
