My Past is Just Prologue (Janet and Nathaniel)

Chapter 52

Read My Past is Just Prologue By Louisa Dillon Chapter 52 - I Liked You

"The former president of the Longfellow Group?"

"Yes."

Hearing Nathaniel mentions her father, Janet lowered her head again, feeling slightly upset.

Nathaniel knew that man well. He was a mighty man. In just three years, he went from a technology company's boss to one of the four moguls in Raleigh, which was basically from rags to riches. "Even now, his unique investment is enough to make everyone admire him."

"Back then, my grandfather thought about taking me to visit him. It's just a pity that there was a car accident, and he passed

away at a young age. It's unfortunate."

Nathaniel sighed softly.

Janet finally felt a little better because she noticed Nathaniel's admiration for her father and even felt she could communicate calmly with Nathaniel.

And the pity in the man's tone made her eyes turn red.

"So, Mr. Webster, no matter our entanglement, I hope you will sell it to me."

Janet wanted to ask him for a favor, and Nathaniel's attitude was frank. His respect for her father was real, so Janet no longer spoke harshly.

Nathaniel frowned slightly. "The last time I went to the Longfellow Group in person, I was going to discuss financial technology cooperation with you, but you refused. So, I negotiated with the Gonzalez Group in Rugnice. Their boss likes antiques the most, so I bought this set of bowls."

This was indeed one of the reasons why Nathaniel wanted to buy this set of bowls.

Hearing what Nathaniel said, Janet's heart sank.

"Since this set is very important to you..." Nathaniel continued, "I can give it to you."

He played with his pen and said leisurely.

Seeing Nathaniel's attitude, Janet had a troubled look on her face. She could pay a lot to buy it, but she was afraid Nathaniel would make her owe this favor.

"What do I need to do?" she asked.

Nathaniel shook his head. "There is no condition, and you can just take it away. If there's any reason, then it's my respect for

your father."

The more he said so, the more uneasy Janet became. She pursed her lips. "How about this? I can help you to get along with the Gonzalez Group. I know the boss of the Gonzalez Group, and I will communicate with him. I'll guarantee you the cooperation.

What do you think?"

Janet proposed thoughtfully. She thought that as a businessman, Nathaniel wouldn't refuse this proposal.

However...

"No need. If I asked you for a favor, everyone would look down upon me. Besides, this set of bowls is not necessary for us."

What the hell was he planning? Janet didn't believe that he was so kind!

Gritting her teeth, Janet stood up. "Then I won't accept it for nothing! After you think of a reasonable request, I will come to you to get this set of bowls back!"

After finishing speaking, she turned around and left with her bag.

Nathaniel raised his eyebrows. Why was she angry?

Janet's elegant and charming figure was completely different from the past when she had always been cautious.

Suddenly, Nathaniel spoke again, "Janet, I'll ask you a question. If you answer it and solve the problem for me, I'll give you

this set of bowls. How about it?"

Janet didn't speak. She paused, turned around, and stared at Nathaniel calmly.

"Why did you marry me?"

This was a question that Nathaniel had not figured out since he left the Longfellow Group.

If Janet were the eldest daughter of the Longfellow family, then she wouldn't need to forge a pregnancy report to marry him for his money.

A scheming gold digger didn't seem to be her identity.

Then why did she insist on hiding her identity and staying by his side?

What was her motive?

Did she want to play tricks to destroy the Webster Group? Then there was no need to waste three full years of youth by marrying him.

It was really suspicious.

"Because of love."

Her words were like a thunderbolt, which stunned Nathaniel, who had always been calm, for a few seconds.

She looked at the man that she used to love so much and felt very upset.

When she traveled with her parents and had a car accident, the flame danced on her body, and the smell of blood and gasoline constantly washed her nostrils.

Just when her consciousness was about to blur, Nathaniel appeared in front of her anxiously.

He was the hope of her life, like the angel she kept praying for. He landed beside her and gave her a new life.

"I married you because I liked you."

Janet looked down, and bitterness welled up in her heart.

If she had known that marrying Nathaniel for three years would not make him fall in love with her, would she still insist on marrying him?

Janet couldn't figure it out either.

Nathaniel stopped playing with his pen. "That's it? Wasn't it the Longfellow Group's trick to bring down my company?"

Janet expressed her feelings so clearly, but Nathaniel couldn't figure out whether she was telling the truth or not.

Janet was a bit annoyed for a moment. She and Nathaniel had been married for many years, yet he still suspected her.

Who would react like this when facing a confession?

And he even speculated so maliciously on others!

Bas*ard!

"Whatever!" Janet turned around angrily. "Since you're not sincere and don't believe my words, I don't want to say anything more. See you! No, I won't see you again!"

Because of anger, Janet's footsteps were a little hasty, and she stepped on the soft carpet with extreme force, wishing to treat the rug like Nathaniel's face and stomp on it a few times to relieve her anger! With a bang, the office door was shut.

Nathaniel put down his pen and pressed the space between his eyebrows.

He was really out of his mind to ask such a boring question. Love? This reason didn't seem real.

Besides, he didn't like her.

Anastasia saved his life, and she was his savior. They were about to get married, so he couldn't let her down!
