Chapter 54
Chapter 54 I'm Pregnant
"Gabe, go! The car is about to explode!" Athena shouted
hastily.
However, her voice was rather low.
Athena didn't know if Gabe had heard her.
He was desperately trying to pull the door open.
The thick smoke billowed into the car.
Athena, who was already in a daze, passed out very soon.
When she woke up again, she was not in the car anymore.
It was getting dark, and she was in Gabe's arms.
A group of police officers pushed Arlan and his gang into the
police car.
"Finally! Athena, you're awake!" Gabe's clean face was stained by smoke, and his eyes were red as if he had been crying. "How do you feel? The ambulance is already on the way. Hold
on!"
Athena weakly shook her head.
"Why are you here?" She asked, "Didn't you already go back?"
Gabe shook his head and said aggrievedly, "No... I bought the same flight as you, so I didn't leave."
"I'm sorry about what happened yesterday," Athena said
softly.
"It's not your fault!" Gabe looked down, avoiding Athena's apologetic gaze. "Byron is just a bastard! He can't protect you
at all. You almost died because of his business!"
"Yeah."
Athena closed her eyes.
She thought about how desperate and ridiculous she was when she called Byron for help.
"This will never happen again... By the way, how did you find
me?"
"I watched you get into the car," Gabe replied, "So I followed
along. But after a while, that car suddenly went in the
opposite direction from another intersection. I realized something was wrong, so I hurriedly asked the driver to turn around and called the police. When the police heard the
170
license plate I mentioned, he said it was a car that had just
been robbed..."
The suburbs around Salin City was very deserted.
The roads weren't messy, but most of the land was
unoccupied, and most of the streets didn't have surveillance
cameras.
Arlan chose this place on purpose.
"Thank God I found you." Gabe hugged Athena, and his body
was trembling.
Athena finally felt relieved.
The ambulance arrived quickly.
Athena was put on the stretcher, and Gabe directed the nurses to carefully carry her into the ambulance.
The doctor gave Athena a basic check-up.
"There's no big deal. I should give her an anti-inflammatory
injection first."
"Doctor," Athena said, "if it's not a big deal, don't give me injections for now. You can disinfect the wound for me and bandage it up."
"Athena, listen to the doctor." Gabe comforted Athena.
"No." Athena shook her head.
"Why?" The doctor was puzzled.
"I'm pregnant," Athena replied lightly.
Sitting next to her, Gabe seemed to be petrified instantly.
"You don't know?" The doctor asked Gabe in astonishment,
"You're her husband! What's wrong with you? Your wife is pregnant, yet you were so careless while driving! She hasn't been pregnant for long, has she? Geez! Hurry up and go to see a doctor and find out how the baby is!
"I can't believe you're so careless!"
Gabe couldn't hear a word of what the doctor was saying.
Pregnant...
Athena was actually pregnant...
Soon, Athena and Gabe went all the way to the hospital.
Athena was sent to the emergency room and underwent a
series of examinations.
"You guys are lucky. The baby is still alive, but there's a bit of a threatened miscarriage." After reading the report, the doctor prescribed a bunch of medicines for Athena. "Go back and take good care of it. This can never happen again!"
Athena had been nervous, and she finally felt a bit relieved.
However, she still had lingering fears.
"Thank you, doctor.""
Athena was then kept in the hospital for observation for one
night.
After the doctors and nurses left,
she looked helplessly at Gabe, who had been remaining silent except for communicating with the nurses.
