My Heart only Beats for You (Natalie Godfrey)

Chapter 2220

It reached a point where Zorion heard an explosion in his brain.

Scenes of his childhood came to his mind.

He raised his head.

His face was ashen, and he looked as though he had been forgotten in the freeze chamber, cold to the touch.

He stared at Tremaine and said, "My wife, I choose my wife."

Tremaine said nothing more.

He picked up the phone directly.

The busy signal sounded.

Tremaine ended the call.

Although Zorion never said a word, Ruth continued to speak, immersed in her own world. She kept muttering until the busy signal echoed by her ear. The phone was hung up.

Her body shook.

The signal was like a pair of invisible hands pulling her back to reality.

She stared blankly at the phone, saying, "So Mr. Zorion won't come?"

It was only a question, but everyone could feel sadness pouring over them.

The doctor and nurses turned their heads away, feeling a lump in their throats.

Madam Quartley was also stunned.

After some time, she spoke up, "So be it then. Just put your attention on the baby. You won't be treated poorly after the baby is born."

Ruth remained silent.

She looked at the ceiling blankly.

The wave of pain continued to sweep over, but she couldn't feel it.

She just fixed her gaze at the ceiling.

From Madam Quartley's point of view, it looked somewhat horrifying.

She couldn't help feeling on edge.

What was going on with Zorion?

He had never listened when she told him not to look for Ruth!

Now that she permitted, he refused instead!

"Check how dilated she is now," Madam Quartley urged the doctor.

The doctor saw to it immediately.

"She's 7cm dilated." The doctor's face lit up.

A look of surprise flashed across Madam Quartley's face. "7cm! Good! Take her to the labor room!"

The doctor and nurses were supposed to help Ruth walk into the labor room.

But seeing her current state, they knew she couldn't walk. Hence they carried her there.

Fortunately, although Ruth was pregnant, she wasn't too heavy due to her genetics. Therefore, it wasn't too difficult to lift her.

When they arrived at the labor room, the doctor asked Ruth to breathe deeply.

"Miss Welmert, follow my breathing pattern. You're already 7cm dilated; the baby will come very soon. Do your best to push." The doctor encouraged. But Ruth looked as though she couldn't hear the doctor.

After entering the labor room, she fixed her gaze at her belly instead of the ceiling this time.

That towering belly.

It looked like a huge balloon.

It would burst with a single stab.

That was right.

Just like people's hearts.

Even if one had gone through many things and looked invincible, they were still fragile. Just a slight stab was enough to shatter them to pieces. "Push, Miss Welmert. We're at 9cm! You can do this!"

The doctor's words came into her ears again.

Following that, immense pain washed over Ruth's body.

The inexorable pain made her scream.

She clutched the handles of the bed with beads of sweat on her forehead.

"Ah!" Ruth shouted.

Ruth wanted to breathe and push with all her might, but Zorion suddenly flashed through her mind for some reason.

All of a sudden, her strength was all gone, leaving nothing but dejection.

"Miss Welmert, c'mon, push! You can do this!" Even the doctor was swearing anxiously.

Ruth was gripping the handles so hard that veins on her hands bulged.

She also wanted to do her best.

But she had no strength at all.

The doctor could tell she was out of strength too.

Left with no option, he pressed her belly to push the baby out.

From that, the pain grew.

She subconsciously wanted to curl up, but the nurses pressed her legs.

"Hang on! The baby's head is coming out."

Something seemed to be desperately coming out.

At the same time, the pain was disappearing little by little.

Soon, the pain was gone.

She felt her body empty.

The cries of a baby filled the room.

At the same time, the labor room door was pushed open.

Madam Quartley barged in, couldn't stay still any longer.

When the nurse saw her coming in, she immediately took the baby to her, saying, "Madam Quartley, it's a boy."

Madam Quartley smiled so hard that wrinkles showed all over her face.

"A son! Zorion's son! The descendant of the Quartley family!"

The baby's cries mixed with Madam Quartley's words.

Ruth struggled to open her eyes.

She looked over at Madam Quartley.

She wanted to see her child.

But she couldn't focus her gaze no matter what.

Finally, Madam Quartley brought the baby to her.

She said, "Look, this is your child."

If Ruth's appearance on the phone didn't move her, she wouldn't have voluntarily brought her child to her.

Ruth stared at the baby boy motionlessly.

He looked just like Zorion.

His eyes, nose, and mouth resembled Zorion's.

Thinking of Zorion, Ruth felt a knife to her heart, causing her heart to bleed.

She didn't blame him.

She couldn't.

She could only blame herself.

She wished for the impossible and held onto it.

In a trance, the scene of attending classes when she was a child appeared again.

She was born a servant, and Nashaland hadn't been reformed then, so servants were inferior to others from birth. Even if they went to school, the education they received was different.

the

The teachers were strict and despised the children of the lower class. Every time Ruth attended the class, he teacher would say, "Remember, you are born to bez servants; it's your duty to serve the master. This is your fate, and you can do nothing about it!"

The sky gradually darkened, covering the whole town in darkness.

Madam Quartley returned home.

Although she looked tired, she couldn't hide her joy.

She found Tremaine and told him about Ruth's son..

It was long within his expectations, so he didn't react much to the news.
