My Heart only Beats for You (Natalie Godfrey)

Chapter 2218

Ruth gritted her teeth and nodded.

She was no frail lady; she grew up with hardship.

This pain was nothing.

Time passed little by little.

Only then did she realize how wrong she was.

She thought she could endure the pain, but little did she know it would only get more intense and frequent.

At first, the contractions came at an interval of ten minutes. But the interval shortened, and now they were only a few seconds apart. When the pain came, she curled up in a ball, as if her internal organs were ripped open.

In the end, Ruth cried out in pain.

It was too much.

And it was getting unbearable.

The doctor comforted her, "Hang in there, Miss Welmert. We've already informed Madam Quartley. She's already on her way here."

Just as the doctor finished speaking, the door opened.

Madam Quartley appeared.

Although she loathed Ruth, Ruth was on the verge of giving birth, so she set aside her prejudice for Ruth.

At this moment, she was excited and nervous. "Ruth, bear with it. Every woman experiences intense pain giving birth. You'll be fine when this is all over." Ruth looked over at Madam Quartley.

Perhaps because of the extreme pain, she started seeing things.

She saw two Madam Quartley in front of her, and they were swaying before finally overlapping into one.

Then, Madam Quartley disappeared.

Zorion's figure appeared in front of her.

Just like the dream she had, he was smiling at her.

His forehead was glistening with beads of sweat, and his teeth were white and neat.

"Mr. Zorion," Ruth muttered.

A surge of emotions overcame her heart.

She wanted to see Mr. Zorion.

She wanted it badly.

The desire was never as intense as at present.

So much so that she reached out to grab Madam Quartley's hand, pleading, "I want to see Mr. Zorion. Please, I want to see him." Madam Quartley was stunned.

Of course, she was reluctant to let them meet at this time.

She said, "Giving birth is a bloody process, and no woman would want a man to see it. Forget about it."

"Please let me see him." Ruth recognized Madam Quartley's voice and continued, "Madam Quartley, please, let me see him."

Just this once.

Let him be here while their child was coming.

At least at this moment.

She, Zorion, their child.

Three of them would be together.

She would be happy with just that one moment.

Her strong urges led to her constant begging. "Madam Quartley, please let me see Mr. Zorion one last time. Please let him accompany me. I swear... 1-1 will... never see him... again." Due to the intense pain, Ruth started stuttering.

Madam Quartley didn't answer until the doctor whispered to her, "Madam Quartley, it's best to satisfy her strong desire lest it affects the child."

Madam Quartley paid great importance to her great-grandchild more than anything else.

She couldn't care less as soon as she heard that it would affect the child.

She said, "I'll have him come over. Hold on. I'll tell him right away."

At the same time, Zorion had just gone to Tremaine.

He had been thinking long and hard about all Tremaine had said to him.

So much so that he thought his head might explode.

Finally, Zorion figured it out.

If he could only choose one...

He would choose his wife.

He could never forget how Yuliana helped him when the other kids bullied him.

It was from then that he knew he had to marry her.

As for Ruth...

Zorion felt a dull pain in his heart.

Ruth would always be his good friend, and he would hold her dearly in his heart for the rest of his life.

But he'd never look for her anymore, for the sake

of his wife.

Zorion told Tremaine his answer.

When he spoke, his head was downcast, looking all woebegone not having the relief he should've

had after making his decision

Tremaine said solemnly, "Since you've decided, you should leave this all behind."

Zorion looked up at him and whispered, "Will Ruth live a good life?"

Tremaine was stunned.

Would Ruth live a good life?

It was naturally a no.

She wouldn't live a good life.

But it was her fate.

Not all billions of people in this world share the same fate.

Like how not everyone could be influential or superior.

Life was a mixture of happiness and pain.

"Everyone has a different life, Zorion.

You don't have to worry about

anyone

other than yourself and your "Tremaine said.

Zorion said, "Okay."

His voice became softer. "Then can I see Ruth one last time?"

"If you've made up your mind, you should not see her again."

There was hesitation in Zorion's eyes.

About five minutes later, the hesitation in his eyes finally dissipated.

He said, "Okay, I won't then. Never again."

At that, he was about to leave when a servant suddenly ran to them.

The servant was panting as she greeted them, "Mr. Tremaine, Mr. Zorion."

With that, she handed a phone to Zorion and said, "Mr. Zorion, Madam Quartley is asking for you."

Zorion took the phone. He wanted to put it beside his ear but accidentally put it on speaker, and Madam

Quartley's voice rang out, saying net

"Zorion Ruth is giving birth. Come over now. I send the servants to bring you here."

Without waiting for his response, Madam Quartley hung up upsettingly; certain her grandson would show up.

Stumped, an unusual beam flashed across Zorion's eyes, exclaiming, "Ruth is giving birth! Baby's coming! I have to see her!"

At that, he said happily to the servant, "Take me to

Ruth now."

Just as the servant was about to take Zorion away, Tremaine stopped him.

Fixing his gaze at Zorion, he said, "If you want to forget her and respect your marriage, don't go."

Zorion stopped.

He said subconsciously, "But she's giving birth."

"If you go, Yuliana will get upset," Tremaine said gravely.

He wasn't requesting for Yuliana's sake but actually Ruth's.

He worried things would go back to square one with Zorion's visit.

He worried it would give Ruth false hope and hurt her.

He knew very well that women were at their most vulnerable when giving birth.
