Chapter 2216
"Don't worry." Yesseca's eyes flashed with a ray of light. "No problem can't be solved. We can't run away just because we encounter a small hindrance. There will be more challenges for us to face. How will we keep the business up if we can't even settle such a small With that, she held Preslie's hands, her voice soft yet resolute, "Didn't you say you want to be a lady boss? The path to becoming one is hard, and only when we're strong can we achieve it. Don't you agree?"
problem?"
Preslie's heart was broken from the ruckus her parent caused. She fell into a pit of despair, thinking there were no hopes for her in the future.
However, Yesseca's words were like a slither of light in the darkness, guiding her out.
Though dim, it still gave her a sense of hope.
She wiped her tears away and said firmly, "You're right, Yesseca! I can't back down just because of such a small matter!"
That evening, Yesseca had Preslie stay at home alone, saying she wanted to take a trip to her sister's.
She hailed a taxi after coming out of the house.
But the destination wasn't the Perry residence but Preslie's home.
About twenty minutes later, she arrived at Preslie's home.
She knocked on the door.
Salter answered it.
He was chewing on a piece of steak.
Seeing Yesseca, he was stunned for a moment and immediately swallowed the beef in his mouth.
"Why are you here? Are you here to give us shares?" he asked.
Yesseca didn't answer.
Thinking it was a yes, he smiled and invited her inside, "Come in. You haven't had dinner, have you? You can eat with us. Preslie's mom cooked up a feast!" Entering, Yesseca couldn't help feeling bad for her good friend.
Preslie was already so upset with what was happening, yet her so-called parents were still in the mood to feast away. How much more cold-hearted could they get? Was Preslie even their daughter?!
Calter called Celine over when Yesseca entered the living room.
Yesseca didn't waste any time and went straight to the point. "I won't give you the shares! I won't give you even 1%, let alone forty. The patisserie is Preslie and my baby. We will never let another person get involved." Hearing that, Calter and Celine's faces turned grim.
Calter, who had just invited Yesseca to dinner, said with a straight face, "We won't rest unless you give us the shares! Preslie has contributed so much to the store, so what if we asked for a slice of the cake? If you see Preslie as a friend, you should give us the shares!" Celine immediately added, "That's right! You must be taking advantage of Preslie. I'm warning you, Preslie may be a pushover; we're not!"
Yesseca said, "I won't give you the shares no matter what you say. But I can give you half a million. If you take it, never bother Preslie ever again!" Yesseca did some calculations on her ride over. According to how much they're currently earning, it'd only take half a year to make half the million. At worst, they'd lose half a year of profit to the Fernandez couple.
She knew despite the hatred, Preslie still saw her parents as her parents; they still had an unbreakable kinship between them.
So she'd be indirectly hurting her best friend if she resolved to desperate measures. That was why she was willing to give them the offer. Hearing Yesseca's offer, temptation struck Calter and Celine.
They were only ordinary workers and had never been able to experience having half a million in their bank. With her offer now...
But after pondering, Calter suppressed his desire. "We still want shares. We don't want the money."
He contemplated.
Half a million was just a one-time buyout!
It wasn't worth it at all!
But with shares, money would pour into their account every month!
elit
Yesseca said, "Forget about shares. What have you contributed to the patisserie? What makes you think you can ask for the lion's share?! only giving you half a million because you're Preslie's parents. I don't want to be too rude seeing you're my elders, but don't push your luck!"
"How dare you! It's because we're Preslie's parents that deserve the shares!" Celine snorted.
Yesseca already had enough of the scoundrel couple.
She said, "Anyhow, half a million is all I'm giving. Take it or leave it. If this escalates, I won't be this nice."
"Who do you think you are to
threaten us?"Celine suddenly got all weird. "We know you used to have a strong backing and almost became the first lady of Nashaland, but you have nothing now! Or you wouldn't end up opening a measly store. As if you can do anything to us! What a joke!"
Celine and Calter had thought the Nashaland government drove Preslie out, but they began having doubts when they saw Sheldon coming to see Preslie.
Hence, they looked for Preslie and forced her to go back to work in Nashaland.
In the end, Preslie had no choice but to tell them Yesseca had broken up with Tremaine and she could never go back to Nashaland.
That was why they were so unscrupulous towards Yesseca.
Hearing Celine's words, Yesseca's expression turned glum.
It was as though something stabbed her heart, and the pain was spreading.
Upset, she said, "I'll repeat myself. I'm only giving you half a million because you're Preslie's parents. I'll give you three days to think about it. If you still don't agree to the offer, I will give you nothing!" With that, Yesseca left.
After she was out the door, Celine
whispered to Calter, "Did you hear that? She's actually willing to give us half a million. I almost said yes. But then I thought about it and figured she must be rich to offer us so much so easily. Maybe their business is doing far better than we
imagined. We can't say yes to the
money; we have to get the shares!"
Calter agreed, "Yes, the shares! We'll create chaos until she agrees, lest she doesn't want to do business."
Celine said, "Anyway, Preslie won't go back to work at the President's Office anymore. We can forget about getting any advantages from that, so we must get some money anyhow. We worked so hard to bring her up; are we not allowed to for something in return?" "Exactly. It's what she should do!" Calter roared, "If she doesn't give us the shares, she will be struck by lightning for her sins!"
