Chapter 2195
Preslie raised a tiny fist with a cry, "Yesseca, we must do our best!"
"Yes, come on!"
At this moment, Matthew came in.
"Yesseca, Preslie, do you know about the Cozy Food Group?" he queried.
Both Preslie and Yesseca nodded at the same time.
It was a worldwide famous brand in the food industry. Its biscuit series was very famous and loved by the public.
"I especially love their chocolate biscuit series. They're basically the obstacle to my weight-loss progress." Preslie commented.
Yesseca also chipped in, "I like to eat their scallion biscuits too. My brother likes them very much as well. It turns out that when I was in the hospital, he often bought them for me to eat."
At the very mention of Lothar, Yesseca's eyes grew teary.
Before Selina and Matthew could say anything, Preslie patted Yesseca's on the shoulder, "Yesseca, if your brother could witness how capable you are now; how you could make that much desserts and even had so many people pay to buy your desserts, he would definitely be proud to have such an outstanding sister!"
It was after those words were said that Yesseca regained her smile.
Matthew continued, "I'm good friends with the Cozy Food Group president. He was poor and had no background to rely on. He came out to work when he was only twelve years old. Because he worked hard and didn't have time to eat, he personally made some dry provisions at home in order to ease his hunger whenever it struck and replenished his energy. It was an unexpected turn of events that his homemade provisions were much to the people's liking, which gave him the idea to make a business out of it."
"This business soon grew bigger and bigger. In just a few decades, he was able to squeeze into the ranks of the top ten world-famous food chains. He's considered as a miracle in the business world until now."
While he narrated to this point, Matthew looked at Yesseca and Preslie with a uniquely profound gaze. "Although your patisserie is small now, it can still grow. Who knows what changes it may go through? Perhaps one day, the desserts you make will be popular in the whole of Agaphen City.
Maybe even up to the whole country, or even the whole world, who knows for certain."
His words carved out an outline of a future that was too wonderful for words.
And for a moment, neither of them spoke.
For they were envisioning in their minds this bright, beautiful future
At the same time, in Nashaland.
Something happened to Yuliana.
She had depression.
This was first discovered by Qiana.
Qiana ran to find Madam Quartley in a panic. She told her how lately when she seeked out Yuliana for a chat, she noticed that she was always being absent-minded and gloomy. There were also a few times that she caught her crying in secret, though when she asked her about it, she only kept her silence.
But that day, she accidentally discovered that Yuliana was taking medication to treat depression.
When she heard this, it shocked Madam Quartley so badly that the teacup fell out from her hands.
"Crash!"
A sound rang out.
A teacup broke into pieces.
She cried out involuntarily, "You really saw Yuliana taking medication?"
Qiana nodded, "Grandma, I won't lie to you about such a thing."
Madam Quartley's world started to spin.
Recently, she had not gone to see Yuliana because she felt guilty.
Lately, Zorion had run off to Ruth's place more and more frequently. Since everyone in the Quartley Palace knew about it, it was not convenient for her to say anything. The reason for that was due to Ruth's pregnancy.
It won't be long till the birth date. At such an important juncture, absolutely nothing must happen!
Therefore, Madam Quartley turned a blind eye and let Zorion visit Ruth.
However, she still felt quite ashamed
towards Yuliana. She said many words of comfort to her no matter how futile, for the more she
mentioned it, the more upset Yuliana would be. Therefore, it was best for Madam Quartley to deliberately avoid her to save her from being too miserable.
But who would have thought that Yuliana would be suffering from depression.
Madam Quartley figured that her granddaughter-inlaw's depression was related to Ruth.
"I'll go find Yuliana right away!"
Qiana immediately helped Madam Quartley up when she saw her movements and unaware to anyone else, a smug look flashed within her eyes at the same time.
Madam Quartley found Yuliana in the gardens.
Yuliana was sobbing as she covered her face.
When she saw the Madam Quartley, she immediately wiped her eyes in a panic. Her tone was cordial as if to cover up what happened, "Grandma, why are you here? I...I just had sand in my eyes!" Madam Quartley hands trembled as she reached out and held her hands.
She was heartbroken as she chided this child in front of her, "Yuliana, why are you so foolish? Why didn't you tell me that you were ill?"
"Grandma, what nonsense are you spouting?" she exclaimed. "What kind of illness did I have? I'm not sick."
"It was Qiana who said that she saw you secretly take medicine for depression!"
Yuliana instantly refuted, "She misunderstood."
Qiana countered in a loud voice, "Yuliana, don't hide it from me and Grandma. We all know that you are suffering inside. How can you bear it alone? Just looking at you makes me feel miserable for you!" Qiana's words seemed to have touched something in Yuliana's heart.
Yuliana staggered before she burst out into tears.
She spoke out in between sobs, "Grandma, Qiana, I'm really fine. I just wanted to take some depression medication because I'm feeling troubled, to make myself a little more happy. I'm really, really fine." It was as if a knife was being twisted into Madam Quartley's heart.
A conflicted look flickered in her
eyes, before she eventually came to a decision. I'm going to find Zorion now. I won't allow him to see Ruth anymore. I will also give that woman a warning, I won't show mercy if she continues with her vixen ways!"
When she saw that Madam Quartley was about to leave, Yuliana quickly pulled her to a stop.
She pleaded with great sorrow, "You can't, Grandma. Ruth wanted Zorion to come visit her every day. If he doesn't, she'll torment herself in many ways. If she did that, what should we do? There's still the child in her womb to consider!"
Madam Quartley was thunderstruck.
The child in her womb!
It was because of this child!
Otherwise, she would have driven this absolute vixen out of the Quartley Palace a long time ago. How could she bear to watch her granddaughterin-law's suffering with eyes wide open!
For a moment, Madam Quartley didn't know what to do.
The child inside of Ruth was her biggest weakness, which made her compromise again and again.
"Grandma, I'm really fine." Yuliana reassured with red-rimmed eyes, "The descendants of the Quartley family are the most important. For this child, I can tolerate anything!"
Madam Quartley's heart was about to break.
"Yuliana, how could I bear to see you suffer like this?"
Yuliana shook her head. "Grandma, we don't have to bear with this grievance for long. She's about to give birth, let's just endure it for now."
When she saw how Yuliana had to comfort her instead of herself, regret and self-reproach washed through Madam Quartley's being.
Although she hated Ruth with gritted teeth, her heart was also filled with pity for Yuliana's plight. However, she also knew the relative importance of this matter. This was definitely not the time to find trouble with Ruth. After a while, Madam Quartley finally decided.
At the same time, she made a promise to Yuliana.
