My Ex-husband Begs Me Back

Chapter 1558 Compromise

Chapter 1558 Compromise

Dan's voice said, "Cami, the video has already been circulating online."

It means everyone saw her delivering the cake to Jordan and misunderstood their relationship. Camille is no stranger to the media, so the public has a certain impression of her. Camille stood there, stunned.

She furrowed her brow tightly, looking extremely serious and uneasy.

She handed the phone back to Dan and instinctively took out her own phone. Her phone had been silent all night, and she realized it was actually turned off.

It probably ran out of battery during dinner and shut down. She had been busy looking at her phone on the plane in the morning and hadn't charged it since.

Camille took a deep breath and said, "I did give Jordan a cake, but it was at his mother's request. I didn't expect someone to take a sneak shot."

Dan replied, "The person who filmed it was probably targeting Jordan, most likely unaware of your identity. But now that the video has been released, they know who you are. They're trying to tarnish Jordan's image using this incident, taking advantage of Ayan to cause trouble for him!"

After Dan finished speaking, Camille didn't respond. She was only thinking about whether Ayan would know about this now. Would he contact her immediately, or would he not care? Camille couldn't express her feelings in words. She truly didn't know what to say.

Seeing Camille in such a terrible mood, Sophia whispered, "It's okay, Cami. These are just baseless rumors from gossip media. Jordan will handle it properly on his side. Why don't you come home with me tonight instead of going back to the hotel?"

"No need. I'm staying at the hotel, and if someone investigates, they'll find out. If I don't go back, it might make them think I'm guilty!" Camille replied softly. She was at a loss about how to handle this situation and felt completely helpless because she was in Dane City, where she had no control.

For safety reasons, Dan arranged a female bodyguard for her, someone he trusted.

They arrived at the hotel entrance at the same time as Camille. Then, Sophia and the female bodyguard escorted Camille to her hotel room. There were quite a few reporters and media stationed outside, but Sophia had influence in Dane City. If she didn't voluntarily show herself, those people wouldn't easily take her picture or spread rumors about her. Otherwise, with Sophia's temper, she would make them pay even for the cost of the cameras.

Sophia accompanied Camille to the room but didn't go in. Instead, she asked the female bodyguard to stay with Camille. She said to Camille, "Don't worry, nothing will happen. I'll come to pick you up tomorrow morning, and I'll be your driver wherever you want to go."

"And how much will that cost?" Camille joked, trying to lighten the atmosphere. She didn't want her own problems to bring tension and uneasiness to others.

"Don't worry, I won't charge you," Sophia replied.

Sophia urged Camille to go inside quickly before going downstairs herself.

As soon as Sophia entered the elevator, her phone rang. Seeing the caller, she was a little surprised but also expected it.

She answered the call, her voice teasing, "Well, isn't this Mr. Simpson? What wind blew your call here?"

The man's deep and hoarse voice said, "Did she come to Dane City to see you?"

His tone was certain, not questioning.

Sophia, of course, knew who he was referring to.

But she pretended not to understand and asked, "Who is she?"

Ayan's voice grew even lower, "Sophia, I'm not joking. Did Camille come to see you?"

"Mr. Simpson, now you're asking me questions. It's a bit impolite, isn't it? What if I don't want to answer?"

"What do you want then?" he seemed to be implying a compromise.

Sophia had been holding onto her anger, which hadn't dissipated despite not mentioning anything about cooperation before. But truth be told, now that she had become friends with Camille, she knew very well that it would be faster to go to Camille directly for certain matters instead of approaching Ayan.

So she said to Ayan, "Say sorry to me. After all, you've rejected me several times. You should at least apologize to me, right?"

The phone suddenly went silent, as if it had been hung up. Sophia couldn't help but look at it, making sure the call was still connected, before putting it back to her ear to continue listening.

There was no immediate response from the man on the other end, but Sophia wasn't in a hurry. She waited in silence.

The silence of a dozen seconds seemed somewhat prolonged, making Sophia feel as if her heart was about to stop beating. After knowing Ayan for so many years, she truly understood his temperament and character.

Now she was challenging him.

Sophia took a deep breath, prepared to say, "Never mind, forget it." But just as the words were about to leave her mouth, Ayan's voice came through, "I'm sorry. Rejecting you was my mistake. You deserve someone better."

Ayan's response completely stunned Sophia. This person was truly doing all this for Camille...

Well, never mind. She didn't want to dwell on it anymore. It was her own business that she had feelings for him, and his rejection was normal. There was no right or wrong in it. She just wanted to make things difficult for him for a moment.

Sophia immediately said, "Alright, Ayan, let's stop talking about it. Are you asking about Cami? We're meeting this afternoon. We planned it yesterday. We've been together all afternoon, and we had dinner together. I just dropped her off at the hotel. Dan arranged a female bodyguard for her, and she's with her now. Her phone is dead, so she turned it off. You'll be able to reach her later."

With just a few words, Sophia summarized the afternoon with Camille because of Ayan's recent apology. She now felt a bit guilty, feeling very uncomfortable inside.

Upon hearing Sophia's words, Ayan responded with a low "Hmm." He already knew the address of the hotel where Camille was staying, but he didn't know the room number yet. He asked, "Which room is she in?"

Sophia hesitated. Was he planning to come right now?

If he was coming over now, it didn't seem like a problem. But why couldn't he just ask Camille directly?

She immediately realized and asked, "Did you really have a fight with Cami?"

During dinner, Camille had said that she and Dan didn't believe it, but now it seemed to be somewhat believable.

However, Ayan didn't answer her question. Without further delay, she told him the room number, and Ayan expressed his gratitude before hanging up the phone.

Sophia suddenly found it quite amusing. She now knew how to handle Ayan. After all, there was nothing wrong with being friends with Camille.

Sophia returned to the car, and Dan instinctively asked, "Is she okay?"

Sophia looked at him but didn't answer directly. Instead, she said, "You do care about her!"

Dan laughed and said, "She's my friend and your friend too. Of course, I care. Who knows, she might be our lucky charm in the future!"

That satisfied Sophia. After all, she felt that they were on the same wavelength.

In the hotel room, after Camille charged her phone and turned it on, it immediately started ringing.

It was Sienna calling, of course.

There were many other messages, but she couldn't read them at the moment. She answered the call first.

Sienna's worried voice came through, "Cami, where have you been? Why is there nobody at home? Are you playing a runaway game?"
