Chapter 3
Unknown POV
I looked at my ring, as it flashed in a bright red colour to signal that I had a message, a message that I had been waiting for the past many years of my life.
I couldn't help the giddy feeling that filled me at the thought of having a second chance at love, only this time I hoped that it would work out way better than the last.
Roseanne's POV
"Bye Honey, I'll see you after work." Mom said peeking through my adjacently opened bedroom door as she sent me a butterfly kiss and was on her way.
"Bye, Mom." I shouted out in response, still feeling groggy with sleep, deciding that it wouldn't hurt to close my eyes and sleep for a bit more, I did just that, it's not like I had classes or anything like that today, either way.
My rumbling hungry stomach was the reason for my moving out of my bedroom. Luckily enough when I got to the kitchen, I found a plate of crumpets waiting for me in the microwave. Just as I was pulling out the plate, my phone vibrated, signaling that I had just received a text, which wasn't out of the ordinary because there were days that Renee would text me instead of calling me. What creeped me out was that the text was from the Fantasy App and it stated that it had found me a match, now I know that most people would be excited about this, but I wasn't because, for one, this felt like it happened way to fast, I had only gotten the app just yesterday and two, how had it find me a match without me having to fill in all the necessary information, it didn't even know what my name was, as far as I knew.
Suddenly feeling curious about who it had matched me up with I immediately tapped on the message before I could even comprehend what I was doing. Light emitted from my phone and seemed to fill up the whole room. It was so bright that I couldn't help but to close my eyes. My head began pounding and everything felt as though it was spinning, my body felt as though it was being pulled in several different directions at the same time, oddly enough it wasn't painful just uncomfortable, I could have swooned at that moment that I had an elastic body. Nausea rushed over me and before I knew it, it felt like everything stopped as I lost consciousness and was swallowed into a black abyss.
I woke up to a gentle small hand being rubbed across my forehead, I couldn't help but to gently moan as the coolness of the hand seemed to calm my raging headache. I tried to pry my eyes open but to no avail. Questions began running through my head. What happened and where was I? Whose hand had it been that had brushed over my forehead. It didn't feel like my mother's hand, I knew by the feel and the texture of the bed that it wasn't my bed and neither was it my mother's unless she had gone out the day before to go and buy a new bed and I knew for sure that this was definitely not the case, and something in me told me that I wasn't at home anymore.
I heard a groan from somewhere around me and realised after a couple of seconds that it had come from me, I tried moving my body and opening my eyes again only for all the movement to cause pain to travel into my head again, making me quietly groan in frustration, what was wrong with my body.
"It's okay, you'll be fine in no time." Said a gentle but masculine voice from next to me, my body couldn't resist but to go into an alert state, who was this man, is he the one that had done to this to me, oh no had I been kidnapped? "Oh no, please don't cry I promise that I won't harm you in any way." The man said sounding panicked, I only realised at that moment that the was liquid rolling down my cheeks, but then I felt gentle hands gently wiping away my tears, leaving behind a trail of sparks, the sparks felt so comforting that I felt like leaning into the man's hands and getting the comfort that his hands seemed to offer. I felt myself relax and settle back onto the comfy bed.
"Better?" The man asked.
'Much better.' I internally replied, only to hear a sweet, melodious chuckle emitting from the man, making me wonder what he was chuckling at, unless he had of course heard what I had said, except that would be impossible seeing as I had only replied in my mind, unless he can read minds, which I doubt is the case.
"You can try to open your eyes now." I heard the man say, only to then realise that the headache that I had felt earlier had seemed to disappear and my eyelids felt, way lighter than before, but I feared opening because I knew that if I opened them I would have to face the situation that I was in and I had a feeling that I wasn't in your everyday situation, but then again I would have to face the situation sooner or later so why not face it now, and with that, I slowly pried one eyelid open and then another with the hope that whatever situation that I was in wouldn't be as bad as it seemed to currently be.
After I had opened my eyes I was met with brightness all around me, I closed my eyes and pressed them together in an attempt to avoid the bright light that seemed to make my eyes hurt. I heard an 'oh' from the man before he placed his hand on my forehead again, I saw sparkles in front of me before everything began dimming down and clearing up. I turned my head around and began taking in everything from around me, everything seemed pretty normal to me, there was a glass fireplace like thing in the room, a light brown beautiful coach facing a TV, and a door leading to a bathroom I think, French doors leading out of the room and another door which I think lead into a walk-in closet. I then turned and looked next to me where I saw a very handsome but nervous looking man, probably the man who had been talking to me since I woke up, the man that is my possible kidnapper because by the looks of things I wasn't in a hospital, unless it was a very homey, comfortable looking hospital.
"Hey..." I nervously trailed off, feeling unsure of what to say or do, who was this guy and what did he want to do with me.
"Hey," He greeted back, fidgeting in his chair, which was something that I found weird, why was he nervous, he wasn't the one who was in a foreign place, probably far away from home. "I'm sorry that we're meeting under such circumstances. My name is Paxton Woods and I believe that your name is Roseanne?" He asked creeping me out. This guy was clearly a stalker and stalkers were dangerous in my books, I seriously had to get out of here as soon as possible.
I slowly got off of the bed, just for me to wobble for a couple of seconds but then my feet gained back the balance that they seemed to have lost. "Well it was pleasant meeting you, uh Paxton but I think that it is about time that I begin making my way back home." I said immediately shuffling my way towards the door before I bolted out of the room, and ran down what seemed to be a hallway, I kept running around and entered and exited rooms until I got to what looked like the front door, hope began filling up my very being as I sprinted towards the door when I reached it, I gripped the door handle and pulled the door open, I felt happiness flood into my being, only for me to realise that I was back to where I had started, I was again facing the man named Paxton except this time he was standing right there in front of me looking at me with what seemed to be a pained expression. I felt my heart drop into the pit of my stomach, as I realised that I was actually trapped, tears clouded my vision and my bottom lip quivered. The man released a pained sigh before he quickly pulled me into his arms, making my whole body freeze in terror.
"I'm so sorry, I'll explain everything later, but for now I think it would be best for you to sleep for a bit before you get yourself injured yourself." He whispered into my ear, just as I felt all of my energy draining out of my body and exhaustion seemed to take over, my legs felt weak and my eyes began drooping, I didn't understand what was happening to me at that moment but all I knew was that I was feeling so tired. I wanted to shout out and ask him 'what are you doing to me?' but I had no energy to, before I completely fell asleep, I felt him scoop me up into his arms and he cradled me into his chest before he gently placed me down on the bed, and before I knew it, I was out like a light.
