Chapter Mute 19

30 minutes earlier.
As I stepped into the dreaded Pit, the stench of sweat and despair assaulted my senses, making my stomach churn with revulsion.
The chamber which was filled with weary-looking maids, with eyes hollow with resignation, and wretched men leering at us with predatory gazes.
I could feel their hungry stares raking over me, stripping away any semblance of dignity or safety. It was as if I had become nothing more than prey in a den of predators, surrounded by danger at every turn.
The air was thick with tension, suffocating me with its oppressive weight. I could sense the fear and desperation emanating from the other maids, their hushed whispers filled with tales of unspeakable horrors endured within these walls.
Despite the overwhelming sense of dread that hung heavy in the air, I refused to let fear consume me. My time away from the Light Shadow pack had hardened my heart, preparing my heart against the cruelty of this world.
I knew what awaited me in the Pit, knew the horrors that awaited me within its walls. But I was prepared to face it, to endure whatever trials came my way.
Standing at the mouth of the Pit, I felt a surge of defiance coursing through my veins. Lady Agatha thought she could break me with this torture, but she had another thing coming. I would show her that I was made of sterner stuff.
I remembered vividly the sight of maids emerging from this hellhole, their uniforms torn and bloodied, their faces etched with agony.
They had been subjected to unspeakable horrors by the wretched men lurking in the shadows of the Pit. But I refused to be another victim of their cruelty.
The foul stench of despair assaulted my senses. The weary looks on the faces of the maids told a tale of suffering. They had endured horrors beyond imagining in this place, but I was determined not to share their fate.
With each step I took, I felt a fire igniting within me, burning away any traces of fear or doubt, Lady Agatha may have planned my descent into this nightmare, but I would not let her break me. I would show her and everyone else that I was unbreakable.

The head maid, her eyes tired and filled with the weight of unspoken sorrows, pulled me aside into a shadowy corner of the Pit. Her voice was low, but her words carried the weight of bitte: perience.
“Listen to m

she said, her voice tinged with a mixture of resignation and

Her words hung heavy in the air, sinking into the depths of my consciousness like stones in a dark, murky pond. But I remained bold, refusing to let her despair my soul.

I hate prepared myself for this moment, prepared to face whatever horrors awaited me in this forsaken place.
As she spoke, recounting tales of unspeakable cruelty and unimaginable suffering, I remained silent, my expression unreadable. I had already hardened my heart, readying myself for the trials that lay ahead. I would not allow myself to be subjected to harassment or violence, not now, not ever.
The head maid finally directed me to my assigned area, and I wasted no time getting to work. I clenched my jaw as I began mopping up the vomit on the floor. It was a common sight in Pit-a sickly man had drunk too much and promptly passed out.
I’ve been trained to be a maid since I was young, just like most low-ranking omegas in the Light Shadow pack. So, without hesitation, I cleaned up the mess and completed a few more tasks before moving on to serve drinks.
As I approached the first table, a sudden sting on my backside made me whirl around, my blood boiling with indignation.
Before me stood a hefty man, his gaze filled with nothing but dark. I held my breath for a moment, struggling to contain my rising anger.
The desire to confront him surged within me, but the realization that he likely wouldn’t understand sign language held me back. With a frustrated sigh, I forced myself to turn away, swallowing my pride as I moved on to the next table.
But as I reached the next group of men, history repeated itself. Another sharp smack landed on my butt, eliciting a growl of irritation from deep within me. This time, it was a balding, middle-aged man who greeted me with a smug smile.
“You’re the mute omega, right?” he remarked casually, as if my silence made me fair game for such treatment.

is grubby fingers encroached upon me, his words dripping with malice, I could feel the bile rise within me.
‘You think you can just… do whatever you want to me?’ I seethed silently, my voice lost in the roar of my boiling fury. And even though he could not hear me, he seemed to have understood me by just watching my mouth move.
He chuckled darkly, his grip tightening on my flesh. “That’s right, sweetheart. You’re just a mute little omega. No one’s gonna hear you scream.”
With each vile word, my anger swelled, igniting a blaze within me that threatened to consume everything in its path.
Enough.was enough.
In a surge of adrenaline-fueled defiance, I struck out, my elbow connecting with his face with brutal force. He stumbled backward, clutching his bleeding nose, while I stood my ground, unfazed by this because he deserved it.
The sudden eruption of violence in the Pit sent shockwaves through the air, leaving everyone stunned into silence. Even the head maid, who had earlier cautioned me about the harsh realities of this place, stood frozen, her eyes wide with disbelief.
As the man wiped the blood from his nose, a sinister snarl twisted his features. His eyes blazed with fury as he directed his venomous words at me. “You dare hit me, you b**h?” he spat, his voice dripping with malice. “I’ll make sure you regret this.”
His threat hung in the air like a dark cloud, filling the Pit with an ominous tension. Despite the fear that gnawed at my insides, I refused to cower before him. With a clenched jaw, I me
t his gaze head-on, determined not to let his intimidation break me.
