Chapter 21 Eden Lawson
"It's okay. By the way, the scenery here looks nice." The man looked outside the window while speaking.
Verena was stunned as she didn't expect that this man seemed to be good-tempered. And he didn't intend to blame her for it. So she could finally breathe a sigh of relief. "Thank you! Thank you so much!"
She turned around gratefully. When she looked at him, she was rendered a bit distracted.
He was a charming man in blue plaid shirt, black double-breasted coat and black pants. He just casually looked outside the window just like an elegant royal prince.
She had never expected that this man looked so perfect!
The man named Eden Lawson then shifted his gaze to look at Verena. He pointed at the driver's seat, "May I drive my own car?"
When hearing that, Verena hurried to stand up awkwardly, "Sorry! I am really sorry!"
"It's okay. I accept your apology." Eden sat down on the driver's seat and looked at her to say softly, "Sit tight. Let me drive you home!"
"No thanks. I can go by myself. Thank you so much!"
While speaking, she opened the door and was about to get off. However, she seemed to forget that her ankle was sprained. As soon as she touched the ground, she felt a bang of pain down her ankle. She couldn't help gasping and stumbled on the ground awkwardly. Tears welled up in her eyes out of pain.
Verena couldn't help exclaiming because of the sharp pain. When seeing that the man squatted down to massage her ankle, she felt so warm in her heart.
She had never been cared by someone else before except for her grandma, who loved her most.
"I am fine!" she looked grateful and moved a bit to take back her foot. His hand felt so warm as it clung to her foot. Her face turned to be blushed bashfully.
However, Eden suddenly gave a hard push on her foot and then her ankle sounded. Verena felt so pain that she bit her lips hard, on the surface of which a tooth print was left. She couldn't help curling up her body.
It felt deadly pain. She kept gasping for air while biting her bleeding lips. Though the blood started to spread all over her mouth, she still managed to keep her mouth shut.
Eden frowned and put a chewing gum into her mouth. Then he said softly, "As a girl, you don't need to be tough. You can cry whenever you need to. And smile whenever you want to." Verena paused and looked at him. Then she smiled sincerely, "Thank you. I will keep your words in mind!"
"Don't mention it." Eden smiled politely and continued, "Where shall I take you to?"
"Don't bother..."
However, before she could finish, Eden interrupted, "But it's too remote here."
"Just take me to the bus stop there."
Eden then drove forward. Both of them didn't say anything. The car fell into silence.
Verena kept her head down. But she sometimes took a few glimpses at Eden, who was driving attentively. Then she hurried to shift her eyes off him. Her heart started to beat faster.
A moment later, the car stopped under a streetlight. Verena got off the car and smiled, "Thank you so much! Bye!"
Seeing that the car gradually faded away from her sight, she smiled and got on a bus.
Sammy still stayed awake while sitting on the sofa to watch cartoon. He giggled from time to time while watching. When seeing Verena appear in the parlor, he jumped out of the sofa happily and ran to hug her with bare feet. "Little Sammy, why don't you sleep?" she smiled and kissed his cheek while hugging his soft little body.
"I am waiting for you. But Miss Pretty, why do you call me Little Sammy?"
"Because you are cute! It sounds nice, right?"
Sammy hesitated and finally nodded while blinking his shining eyes, "Alright, I agree! Oh, by the way, daddy won't be back tonight. Can I sleep with you, Miss Pretty?" "But you always sleep alone, right?"
"I don't want to sleep alone tonight. Miss Pretty, you feel so soft and you smell nice. I will sleep well when hugging you! And you look really beautiful today!"
While speaking, he yawned, looking drowsy. Verena smiled and hugged him tight in her arms.
Soon, he fell asleep in her arms.
Verena held him carefully on her side. When she was about to go upstairs with Sammy, two men entered the parlor.
Owen was supporting Lemuel to step in, who was teetering with his eyes closed. Meanwhile, he was yanking his tie impatiently.
However, Owen was looking around the parlor furtively as if he was looking for someone.
When he saw Verena, who was holding Sammy in her arms, he was stunned. But he didn't intend to figure out what happened. He asked in a low voice, "Is the old man here?"
Verena shook her head and then was about to get upstairs with Sammy.
But Owen strode in front of her to stop her, "Lady, here we meet again!"
Ignoring his frivolous words, Verena frowned and bypassed him to walk ahead.
'Come on, am I not appealing enough as a man?' Owen couldn't help questioning himself. But he knew that it was not the right time to think about it.
If the old man saw him here, he would be sent back to Britain! Or he would be doomed!
He reached out his arm to grab hers, "Lady, just deal with the drunk guy on the sofa, okay? I am leaving!"
He knew how drunk Lemuel was as he kept boozing himself just now.
What was more, Lemuel even forced him to go to the Hilton Hotel and made the manager open the door of the presidential suite. When seeing that it was empty, he even punched both of Owen and the manger. Now Owen still felt pain on his back.
Before Verena could answer, Owen had already run out of the parlor.
Lemuel ripped his tie off and threw it onto the sofa. His breath was getting stronger, "I need water!"
His voice sounded deep and lazy because of drunkenness.
Verena looked unconcerned and kept silent. She moved forward to step on the first stair.
She hated him for forcing her to attend the banquet and leaving her alone in the hotel. What was worse, when Louis was haunting her, he didn't show up to save her but to booze himself! Of course, now she would show no concern with this drunk guy!
