Chapter 67 Why Did Brooklyn Hire a Female Assistant?
After a few seconds of thought, Harper answered, "It's a female assistant."
Madam Powell frowned. "A female assistant? Brooklyn never hired a female assistant before. I still remember that he told me that a female assistant will bring a lot of trouble. Why did he hire a female assistant?"
She put the teacup down and then rested her hands on her knees, Madam Powell gazed at Harper.
Though in her seventies, Madam Powell was energetic with dark and bright eyes. Harper broke out in a cold sweat since Madam Powell fixed her eyes on him.
"Doesn't Brooklyn worry that his fiancee will lose her temper?" Madam Powell said gently.
She didn't have a favorable impression of Mirabelle.
That girl looked gentle, graceful, well-behaved, pretty, and polite.
However, Madam Powell was no common woman. She was born and grew up in a rich and powerful family which helped her obtain a thorough understanding of snobbery in the upper class. Therefore, she was very clear that Mirabelle's nature was not the same as how she presented herself.
Brooklyn was Madam Powell's only grandson, so his insomnia had always worried Madam Powell sick.
All famous doctors in Sliwell failed to relieve Brooklyn's insomnia. Mirabelle was the only one that could help Brooklyn suffer less from insomnia. That was why Madam Powell turned a blind eye to their marriage. After all, since Brooklyn was in charge of the Powell Group, he would not allow Mirabelle to do anything against the interests of the Powell Group.
Therefore, although Madam Powell disapproved of their marriage, she didn't interfere in it.
"Ms. Moss?" Harper smiled. It had been six years since he became Brooklyn's assistant. He was treated kindly by Madam Powell due to his loyalty to Brooklyn and his hard work for the company.
After a while of thinking, Harper said, "Ms. Moss did have argued with Mr. Powell over this before. I heard that Mrs. Powell even asked Mr. Powell's female assistant to the Powell's and rebuked her. However, the new assistant is indeed very capable. No one in the company can rival her capability to make perfumes. Therefore, Mr. Powell tried his best to let her stay."
Madam Powell was surprised by Harper's explanation.
"Is she more capable than Ashley? I remember that Ashley was the former chief perfumer in the company."
Though Madam Powell had already handed over the Powell Group to his grandson, she was reluctant to witness any troubles since the Powell Group was the fruit of her husband's painstaking labor. She was informed of what happened in the company from time to time.
Brooklyn permitted his grandmother to do this due to his close relationship with her.
Harper nodded and told Madam Powell about what had happened between Diana and Ashley.
"Anna does stand out in terms of the capacity to make perfumes. Otherwise, Mr. Powell would not have let her stay. She contributed a lot to the cooperation between the Powell Group and the Hillvie. What's more, all perfumers in the company appreciated her skill of making perfumes."
Madam Powell's eyes were filled with admiration.
She thought highly of capable youngsters.
Everyone regardless of gender was supposed to come to the fore as long as they equipped themselves with skills and capability.
Madam Powell was more curious about Diana.
Her grandson never showed any interest in any woman.
Additionally, Brooklyn would not have allowed Mirabelle to be with him and even promised to marry her if she hadn't rescued him six years ago.
"I want to see Anna. It's wonderful if she really does good to the company and has no affair with Brooklyn. As for the relationship between Brooklyn and Mirabelle, I will not interfere."
Harper said with a reluctant expression, "Madam Powell, Anna is in the office of the Perfume Department. The annual Perfumer Competition of Sliwell is around the corner."
"Well," Madam Powell nodded thoughtfully without pursuing the matter, "I will see her later. By the way, is Brooklyn still at the meeting? The meeting lasts for such a long time since I arrived." "Madam Powell, wait a moment, please. I will go and see if the meeting ends."
Madam Powell and her secretary remained in the reception room after Harper left.
Bearing Harper's words in mind, Madam Powell had to beware of the situation since it concerned Brooklyn.
"Remember to investigate the girl named Anna after we are back."
Her secretary agreed politely.
"Besides, you should also call Brooklyn's mother to inquire into the whole thing. As Brooklyn's mother, she doesn't care much about Brooklyn. But she worries so much that Brooklyn has a female assistant to the extent that she even asked the assistant to the Powell's. It's not the Powell style."
Madam Powell said this calmly with a hint of satire.
Madam Powell would not horn in if Rebecca consented to Mirabelle and Brooklyn's marriage due to Mirabelle's ability to relieve Brooklyn's insomnia.
But she would not allow Mirabelle and Rebecca to interfere in Brooklyn's work too much.
After all, it was the business of the Powell Family rather than the Foster Family, not to mention the Moss Family.
For the sake of his mother, Brooklyn
was reluctant to upset his mother As Brooklyn's grandmother, Madam Powell should talk to his mother on his behalf.
It was extremely quiet in the meeting room.
It was known to all senior managers that Brooklyn was cruel and merciless.
He would never reverse his decision.
Nobody was able to persuade him into changing his mind.
No one could make any difference
as long as Brooklyn decided that the
chief perfumer in the cothe
would not participate in the Perfumer Competition of Sliwell.

Harper was frightened by the dreaded atmosphere in the meeting room as he opened the door.
He calmed himself down and walked towards Brooklyn.
"Mr. Brooklyn, Madam Powell is here in the VIP reception room now."
Brooklyn's expression eased a bit from coldness.
Brooklyn wondered why his grandmother came here.
Brooklyn frowned slightly and said after a few seconds, "I see."
His eyes glanced at the people in the meeting room, he said, "The meeting is over."
He took the documents on the table with his slender fingers and strode to the VIP reception room.
Madam Powell was the only one in the Powell Family that could give him warmth.
Though Rebecca was his natural mother, their bond was weak since they seldom got along with each other.
Madam Powell was the opposite of Brooklyn's mother.
As Brooklyn's grandmother, Madam Powell cared much about Brooklyn. It was Madam Powell who tried every endeavor to look for the cure for his insomnia. Staff in the Powell Group would be shocked by Mr. Powell if they could see the gentle expression when he met his grandmother.
"Grandma," Brooklyn said with a soft tone that was rarely heard by others.
Opening the door of the reception room, he saw Madam Powell resting on the sofa. He continued with a smile, "What bring you here today?"---------------
