Mr. Powell Is Hunting for His Wife

Chapter 15: Were There People Who Look So Much Alike in This World?

Brooklyn was deep in thoughts.

A letter from the Powell Group and it wasn't for him but Mirabelle?

Brooklyn picked up the letter using his finger then he looked down.

Brooklyn startled the next second.

The sender was Anna.

There weren't many people named Anna in the Powell Group. The only Anna Brooklyn could relate was Anna Miller, his assistant, who gave him good rests.

Brooklyn had been using Mr. and Mrs. Hill's meeting as a bargaining chip to coerce Anna into accompanying him during nap times ever since he found out that Anna, who came and applied for the assistant position, could relieve his insomnia.

Was something going on with Anna and Mirabelle? If Anna was sent by Mirabelle...

A sense of disgust appeared in Brooklyn's eyes. He hated people who tried to control him. He would immediately stop his interest in Anna if she was sent by Mirabelle.

The caretaker became nervous when he saw Brooklyn became sulky. He was afraid to get fired by Brooklyn if he made any further movements.

Brooklyn headed into the study room without saying anything. He untied his necktie and opened the letter.

Brooklyn saw Diana's neat and elegant handwriting.

"Dear Ms. Moss, I presumed that you received the evaluation report? If nothing goes wrong, I hope to receive your apologies in time. The reputation of a perfumer shall not be tainted. It's okay if you don't wish to apologise, I shall let it go, but remember this, don't ever defame anyone before you have actual proof."

For some reason, Brooklyn felt relief after reading the letter.

Anna wasn't sent by Mirabelle. Brooklyn was glad to know that.

But Brooklyn frowned again when he thought about the content of the letter. Mirabelle defamed Anna?

Mirabelle was reading some luxury brands catalogues and ordering the clothes and bags she liked in her room.

Mirabelle threw out all the clothes that had Anna's perfume on. How could she not have enough luxury outfits and bags as the future young mistress of the Powell family?

Brooklyn never stepped into Mirabelle's room before. She threw everything in her hands away on her bed in surprise, "Brooklyn, you're here."

Brooklyn stared at Mirabelle coldly, "What did you defame Anna for?"

Mirabelle stunned.

How would Brooklyn know about Anna?

Mirabelle quickly responded, "Brooklyn, what are you saying? I don't understand."

Brooklyn sneered. He threw the letter onto the table.

Mirabelle's face turned pale after reading it.

Mirabelle can't let Brooklyn knew that she wanted Anna to recreate the perfume that could help Brooklyn sleep.

"Say something," Brooklyn put his hands in his pocket and glared at Mirabelle coldly.

"I...I wanted Anna to make me some perfume, but it turned out the perfume she made didn't fit my requirement. So I asked some other perfumer in Sliwell City to run an evaluation for me." Mirabelle quickly made her story up.

Brooklyn sneered again. He can't help but wonder how much truth was there in Mirabelle's story?

"And?" Brooklyn asked.

Mirabelle clenched her fists and replied sulkily, "There's nothing wrong with Anna's perfume."

"Good. Go to the Powell Group with me tomorrow."

Mirabelle raised her head. There were sparks in her eyes.

Brooklyn never asked Mirabelle to go to the Powell Group with him before.

However, Mirabelle's heart sank when she heard what Brooklyn was going to say.

"Anna just got hired by the Powell Group as a newly joined perfumer. Defaming her is equal to defaming the Powell Group."

Then Brooklyn took the letter away and left Mirabelle's room.

Mirabelle stunned. She finally understood what Brooklyn meant after a few minutes.

The Powell Group just hired Anna as their newly joined perfumer?

The next day, Diana headed to the Powell Group after sending Emily and Austin to school.

Diana saw Harper rushed in her direction right after she stepped out of the lift and landed on the Director office level.

"Anna, why are you so late? Come quick."

Diana was curious. She took down her sunglasses and blinked her eyes, "What's the rush? I wasn't late."

Diana put her sunglasses into her purse, then followed Harper to Brooklyn's office.

"Harper, you haven't told me why Mr. Powell wants me here. What's the rush?"

Harper was speechless. He looked at Diana, "Don't be surprised if you see other people in the office. That would be the future Mrs. Powell. Don't act rashly, or you might lose your job. Don't blame me by then." Diana smiled, "I see."

Mirabelle was here. Diana thought it was something more significant.

Good. Diana hadn't seen her sister for six years.

She wondered if Mirabelle could recognize her.

Harper pushed open the door of the Director's office. Diana stepped into the room in heels and her office bag.

Diana smiled and greeted Brooklyn, "Good morning, Mr. Powell."

Mirabelle hadn't moved her eyes away from Diana the moment Diana stepped into the room and walked towards Brooklyn's desk.

If you look closely, Mirabelle's pupil contracted as a result of shock, but she controlled her fear and acted calmly.

That was a familiar face Mirabelle dreamt of so many times. It scared her and kept her up at night.

It was impossible!

Diana was dead!

Mirabelle asked people to throw her into the sea six years ago.

Did Diana resurrect?

Maybe Diana was dead, and Anna was just somebody that looked very much alike to Diana.

Were there people who look so much alike in this world?

Mirabelle was frightened. The smile on her face was stiff.

Say if Anna wasn't Diana, Mirabelle had seen many people who tried to seduce Brooklyn after she declared herself as Brooklyn's fiancé. No one could trigger the insecurity in Mirabelle back then, but Anna, the perfumer, did it.

And Anna looked so much like Diana.

Even the black suit Anna was wearing couldn't hide her perfect figure.

Anna's eyes were so pretty as if they could talk. Her smiles and laughter were so charming, even Mirabelle, a woman, fell charmed. But there was a touch of shock in her eyes at the same time.

Mirabelle controlled her emotion and tried to hid her uneasiness from Brooklyn. She calmed herself down and looked at Diana in jealousy.

Brooklyn said softly, "Now, apologize. Mirabelle."

Mirabelle startled. She felt humiliated.

Mirabelle was the precious daughter of the Moss family and Brooklyn's fiancé! How could Brooklyn force her to apologize to Anna when there were outsiders in the room? Harper stunned.

What did Mr. Powell say?

Mr. Powell wanted Ms. Moss to apologize to Anna?

How would the precious daughter of the Moss family apologize to Anna?

Diana was then enlightened. There was a sly look in her eyes.

It seemed like the letter she sent to Brooklyn's house was well-received.

What Diana didn't expect was Brooklyn wanted Mirabelle to apologize to her. Weren't they a couple?

Diana looked around and saw Mirabelle's reaction. She acted surprised and covered her mouth, "Mr. Powell, how did you know my client, Ms. Moss?"

Anna sounded confident, mature and charming when she spoke. The way she smiled and moved around was captivating.

It was way different than the Diana Mirabelle remembered from six years ago.

The difference relieved the worries in Mirabelle.

Mirabelle quickly answered before Brooklyn as she was afraid that Brooklyn would clarify that she wasn't his fiancé, "I'm his fiancé. Of course, he knew me."
