Chapter 90
Hymes smiled and said, “I hope I can be…”
“Charming enough to make you…” Hymes raised Giselle’s chin and forced her to look into his eyes.
Giselle seemed to be fascinated and met his eyes as if he would be drowned by his gentle eyes at any time.
“Fall in love with me one day.”
Giselle’s heart suddenly skipped a beat.
She had never imagined that she would be so touched by Hymes at such a moment.
His words were probing and inquisitive. He seemed to let her have the initiative and waited for him with patience.
Why did Hymes ask such a question?
Giselle thought quickly. She couldn’t help wondering if he had asked her the question because he had fallen in love with her.
Giselle actually thought about it. After they got married, they had to get used to each other gradually and then have a deeper bond and emotional entanglement.
Otherwise, how could they live together for the rest of their life?
People nowadays looked for mental satisfaction, unlike the people in the past, who could live with someone they didn’t like.
If the spouse failed to reach the same frequency, sooner or later the marriage would go wrong.
Moreover, the two of them were different from the other couples, who fell in love and got married.
Giselle chose to marry Hymes for many reasons, but none of them had anything to do with love.
But gradually…. Giselle became more and more accustomed to married life with Hymes.
Hymes would not put unnecessary pressure on her and he made compromises for her. In addition, he took good care of her.
In Giselle’s opinion, few women could resist such a warm man..
Therefore, it was normal to be tempted by him.
However, Giselle didn’t like to give the initiative to others, so she wouldn’t admit that even if she was attracted to Hymes.
She lost her composure when Hymes asked her such a question suddenly.
Giselle lowered her eyes, her eyelashes fluttering like butterfly wings.
Hymes‘ face dimmed a bit. He wondered if he was being too impatient.
He shouldn’t have spoken up at this moment….
He was invincible in the business world, but now he was disturbed by his regret.
Hymes immediately changed the subject, “Tell me about your company.”
If Giselle couldn’t give him the answer now, he wouldn’t press her. Hymes thought he had enough patience to wait until the day Giselle told him the
answer.
Giselle hadn’t thought it over yet, but Hymes changed the topic quickly. She opened her mouth, hesitant to speak.
Forget it. She didn’t know how to answer his question anyway.
Giselle thought that she had feelings for Hymes.
But she broke up with Mickey not long ago.
Although she didn’t love him wholeheartedly in their relationship, she tasted the sorrow of being betrayed.
Therefore, it was not easy for her to love another man wholeheartedly in such a short time.
Giselle thought she needed more time to sort out her feelings.
Maybe it was good to slow down. She was slow in reacting to love. If she fell in love too fast, it might not be stable.
She thought she liked this man very much, but in fact, perhaps she hadn’t thought it over yet.
Sure enough, Frank didn’t cause any trouble for Giselle.
None of the problems that Giselle was worried about came up, so she knew that Andy had fixed the matter.
What delighted Giselle the most was that Frank’s company sent someone else to communicate with her about the cooperation. For the first time, Giselle felt the difference made by status and power.
She came to realize why so many people yearned for the taste of power.
However, it didn’t belong to her world. Giselle knew that she should do things more down–to–earth.
Of course, getting rid of Frank saved her a lot of effort, and she was content with that.
One morning, Giselle went to the company in a good mood.
From the moment she set foot in the company, she felt something was wrong.
Many colleagues stole glances at Giselle in their seats. When she looked at them, they looked away and pretended nothing had happened.
How strange.
Giselle had to go to a colleague who was on good terms with her.
“What’s going on today? Do they have any opinion of me?”
“You don’t know about it, do you?”
The colleague secretly told her, “Everyone knows that we signed the contract with Pino Capital in advance because you communicated with Mr. Woods.”
“So what?”
“I don’t know exactly who started the rumors, but now they are all saying that Mr. Woods helped you because you are his…”
Giselle sneered and said, “Just because of this?”
“Yes, it’s just because of this.”
Rumors were scary. Although there was nothing going on between Giselle and Hassan, the rumors described her as a vain woman who sold her beauty for chances of cooperation.
In their eyes, Giselle had become a woman who relied on Indecent relationships and got benefits by despicable means.
Giselle’s chest heaved up and down. She felt angry and humiliated.
Chapter 90
Taking a deep breath, Giselle forced herself to regain her composure and said, “Do you know who started the rumors?”
“It’s hard to say. People spread the rumors to each other. No one would admit he was the one who started the rumors even if you interrogate each of
them.”
Of course, Giselle knew about the power of public opinion. Nora had gotten into big trouble a few days ago because of that. And now.. Giselle had to experience it in the company.
But Giselle knew vaguely who started the rumors. Only Jenny and Mickey would watch over her and slander her in the company.
Giselle would not compromise with them, nor would she pretend that nothing had happened, but she had to figure out how to handle it.
After Giselle returned to the office, everyone stared at her for a while before looking away. There were contempt and curiosity in their eyes. Only people who had experienced this could know the damage they could cause to a person.
Giselle was unruffled and went back to her desk. After she sat down, she heard a mocking voice. “I don’t think so. How can she sell herself?”
It was Jenny.
The colleague who was next to Jenny immediately said, “She’s married. Who knows? If she doesn’t seduce him with her pretty face, how can get him to pull strings for her? There must be some unspeakable secrets.”
Jenny wore a weird expression and said, “It’s unbelievable. It’s unbelievable. Although I don’t like her, I don’t think she would do that.”
“You are too simple. Sometimes people will give up anything for the benefits!”
Everyone knew well who they were talking about.
They looked at Giselle with pity or disdain.
Giselle closed the dialog window on the computer and got to her feet, walking slowly toward Jenny.
She leaned against the wall and gave a smile, which failed to reach her eyes. She asked, “What are you talking about? I’m interested. Why don’t we chat about it together?”
