Chapter 80
Chapter 80
Jenny had been feeling anxious these past few days, and she didn’t know why she was so scared.
However, the issues with her family business had her extremely worried, fearing that Mickey would lose interest in her if he found out about their troubles.
Mickey had been good to her. But after all, she had taken him away from Giselle, and deep down, she knew the advantages she had over Giselle.
Jenny liked Mickey, so she didn’t care about the real reason why he was with her, as long as he stayed by her side.
“The problem was that her family business had been in some big troubles. Several previously agreed–upon projects had met impediments, and the banks were calling in their loans.
Jenny’s family was experiencing a financial crisis, and they could only sell some properties to recoup some of their principal and temporarily weather the storm.
However, even in this difficult time, they still had substantial resources. Jenny believed that once they got through this period, her family business would undoubtedly return to normal!
Then, she wouldn’t have to worry.
But during this time, she needed to keep a close eye on Mickey to ensure that he wouldn’t rekindle his feelings for Giselle!
Kevin thought that Jenny wouldn’t be a burden, so he agreed that the three of them would go together.
Giselle simply took a cab, not bothering to ride with the couple.
Mickey’s mind was preoccupied, knowing what Jenny had been worried about lately, but he didn’t stop her.
When they arrived at Pino Capital, the receptionist was the same as last time.
Seeing that not only Giselle but also her least favorite person had arrived, the receptionist’s attitude changed significantly.
“Ms. Ostry, Mr. Woods is already waiting in the conference room. Please go up now!”
“Thank you.”
“You’re welcome! Pino Capital is delighted to have partners like you, and as for the others… to be honest, we don’t care!”
A fire ignited in Jenny’s heart. How could she not understand that the receptionist was mocking her?
Mickey held Jenny back just as she was about to lash out. “Let’s focus on the meeting first. Work is more important.”
Reluctantly, Jenny glared at the receptionist, followed Mickey through the gate, and entered the elevator area.
Upon seeing Giselle, Hassan became exceptionally polite, not acting like Pino Capital was the investing party at all.
It was as if Giselle was the one who truly held the capital.
This attitude made Jenny extremely unhappy. She held back her anger until the meeting was over and the cooperation between both parties was nearly finalized.
Upon leaving the conference room, Jenny could no longer contain herself. “What’s your relationship with Mr. Woods? Why does he have to be so polite to you?”
“Mr. Woods appreciates me. What do you think our relationship is?” Giselle replied indifferently.
Jenny mocked sarcastically, “Who knows what your relationship really is? Are they interested in your skills or something.
else?”
“Everyone is an adult here, and we all know what things mean. I didn’t expect you to be that kind of person, willing to sacrifice yourself for this collaboration.”
Mickey scolded, “Enough, we’re still in their office. Do you want to cause a scene and be laughed at?”
Interrupted by Mickey, Jenny glared at him unhappily. “Are you speaking up for Giselle?”
“You know that’s not what I meant. Jenny reluctantly closed her mouth.
But Giselle was indeed puzzled by Hassan’s strange attitude.
When Giselle returned to the office, she didn’t boast about her achievement, allowing Mickey to report the good news to Kevin. Instead, she went online to look up information about Pino Capital.
Unfortunately, Pino Capital’s public information was limited. A big capital firm like this didn’t need much publicity.
So, why was such a company interested in her?
Giselle’s curiosity grew, but since Hassan hadn’t done anything else, she could only suppress her strange thoughts for the time being.
Hymes had a rare schedule change today and couldn’t come home to cook dinner. Giselle quickly told him, “Don’t worry about me. Do what you need to do. I’m going to have dinner with Kila!”
“Alright.” Hymes chuckled. “If it gets too late, let me know, and I’ll pick you up.”
“I know, I know, just do your thing!”
Giselle and Kila met up for lunch, and Giselle couldn’t wait to share her current bank account balance. “I did the math. At this rate, I’ll have enough for a down payment next month!”
“Wow, you’re getting rich!”
Kila said with a cynical expression. “If I had a voice as nice as yours, I’d start to live streaming too!”
“Actually, I don’t think I could make that much money with regular sleep aid live streams. You know I don’t show off, and not many people watch.”
Giselle bit her lip. “It’s just that Xeno has gifted so many things.”
“What on earth is Xeno thinking? He doesn’t pursue you or ask for any favors. He just shows up every day, gifts items, and then goes to sleep?”
“Maybe it’s because I can help him fall asleep?”
“Right… Rich people have a lot of stress and insomnia is normal. Your voice just happens to put him at ease, so he gives you those gifts as payment!”
Giselle, resting her chin on her hand, grinned. “Whatever the reason. I’m almost at my goal. Even though I can only afford a two–bedroom apartment, it’s still great.”
Kila looked envious. “I don’t know when I’ll be able to afford a place.”
“Keep working hard… Take on a few big projects, and you might earn it back.”
As they chatted, Nora called.
“Giselle, are you free now? I’d like to talk to you again about our collaboration.”
After some thought, Giselle simply gave Nora her location.
Hanging up, Kila was amazed. “She’s really shameless. What makes her think you’d let bygones he bygones?”
“Of course I won’t let bygones be bygones, but I won’t let money issues get in my way either.”
“What do you mean? You want to collaborate with Nora?”
Giselle naturally thought, “Nora is a model, so she’ll definitely have business opportunities in the future. I can take a cut and make a profit from it. Why should I refuse?”
“Whatever you say. As long as you can tolerate her spoiled behavior,” Kila replied.
Giselle casually laughed. “If Nora signs with me, she won’t be able to act tough in front of me.”
Giselle had many ways to handle Nora and make her obedient.
Nora arrived shortly after and put away her sharp edges to have a serious discussion about collaborating with Giselle. The two quickly hit it off.
As they were wrapping up, Nora’s boyfriend came to pick her up.
Giselle laughed when she saw Nora’s boyfriend. Wasn’t he Rey?
