Chapter 74
Chapter 74
Hymes‘ expression was terrifyingly cold, his gaze sweeping toward Jenny.
With a chilling intimidation.
His voice became even colder. “Does this concern you?”
Jenny shrank her neck, forcing herself to say, “Just curious about my coworker. How much did you guys pay for this car? It shouldn’t be too expensive. I don’t think this brand is that great.
Jenny pointed at the luxury car behind them, the expensive car that Mickey had bought.
“It should at least be of that level, otherwise, it’s not even worth taking over riding the bus or subway every day.”
Giselle’s expression gradually recovered, coldly looking back at Jenny. “Well, I wish you could drive your luxury car every day without traffic or waiting for red lights.”
“Giselle, don’t pretend. You must be really jealous, right? But that’s all your husband can afford, and there’s nothing you can
do!”
Jenny’s words were harsh, but she was intimidated by the silent and gloomy gaze from Hymes in the car.
Jenny dared not continue.
She hurriedly turned around and entered the company building first.
Giselle watched Jenny suddenly run away and said, “Don’t mind her. She’s just rude. She really can’t affect me at all.”
Hymes brushed Giselle’s hair back with his deep tone. “Does she bully you like this every day at work?”
“Not really. Most of the time, she can’t even speak because I counter her. Do you think I’m easy to be taken advantage of?”
With Giselle’s sweet smile, the murderous intent in Hymes‘ eyes gradually faded. Hymes gently pinched her face. “If you’re bullied, don’t hold it in, and tell me right away.”
“Okay, I got it… you better get going!”
“Alright, we’ll talk about that answer later.”
Still teasing her before leaving. Hymes was satisfied when he saw Giselle blush.
Giselle quickly escaped from the car, and her steps were quite flustered.
Entering the company, Jenny was talking to other colleagues about the car Hymes had bought.
Full of contempt, Jenny said, “With that brand, it’s not good at all. It’s probably because they don’t have money, so they bought that kind of car.”
“The colleagne who took Hymes‘ ride to the subway yesterday couldn’t help but tell Jenny, ““Actually, Giselle’s husband’s car is the top–of–the–line model of that brand. It cost at least 100,000 dollars, plus some other fees, it’s not much different from 140,000 dollars.“”
Jenny’s smile froze, and her bragging stopped. “What did you say? How much?”
If
you
don’t believe me, you can check it out. I have work, so I’ll go
first!”
The colleague left, leaving Jenny standing there, gritting her teeth, and feeling resentful.
Giselle’s useless husband, an insurance salesman, could actually spend 100,000 dollars on a car?
What a joke!
But Jenny didn’t dare to ridicule any further.
Giselle didn’t have any other conflicts with Jenny, but Jenny held a grudge because of this.
These people were really foolish, actually believing that Giselle’s husband spent that much money on a car? They must be trying to deceive others!
Just like the ring Giselle wore, it must also be fake!
When Jenny thought of this, her mind became active.
After being taken away by Amy that day, Jenny asked her about what happened but couldn’t get any answers.
Jenny felt that Amy just wanted to calm her down because she was worried that she didn’t have friends in the company. But Jenny held a grudge against Giselle more after that.
Jenny always felt that Giselle would snatch Mickey away from her.
“I want to see you embarrassed!”
Jenny’s eyes were filled with a gloomy and cold light.
At lunchtime, many employees were out, and there was a lunch made by Hymes, so Giselle was eating in the pantry.
After eating, she would clean her lunchbox and bring it back home at night.
Just after finishing her meal, Giselle was about to wash the dishes.
Every day before washing dishes, she would take off her ring.
After all, Giselle couldn’t dare to let her expensive ring touch the water, in case it got damaged.
So she just placed the ring on the tea bar next to her. Anyway, washing dishes only took a few minutes, and she could put the ring on her finger immediately after washing.
Just as she was about to wash the dishes today, someone suddenly called her. “Giselle, come and take a look at this PPT content. I’m going to send it to our business partner now…”
Work was the top priority, and Giselle didn’t think much. She immediately went to help her colleague review the PPT
content.
After more than ten minutes, some modifications were suggested, and when she went back to the pantry to clean her lunchbox and prepare to put on her ring, she found that the ring was missing.
Giselle’s heart tightened.
There were not many people in the company at this time, and Giselle looked everywhere, including the floor and the crevices, but the ring was not found.
She quickly asked everyone, “Did anyone see the ring I was wearing?”
Everyone replied in unison. “We didn’t see it…”
“I haven’t even been to the pantry! Giselle, did you accidentally leave it somewhere else?”
Even after most of the employees had returned to the company, Giselle still hadn’t found the ring.
At the official start of work, Giselle hid her anxiety and calmly asked everyone if they had seen the ring she was wearing.
Jenny was also one of her inquiry targets.
Jenny rolled her eyes and said, “Who would see your fake ring? What’s so good about looking for a fake product? Just forget
it if it’s lost!”
“I’m just asking if you have seen it, not asking you to judge my ring.”
“What are you pretending for? Your ring is not worth much even if it’s lost!”
Giselle actually had her doubts.
She had just carefully searched for the ring, but had not found where it fell.
There were only a few people who could have had a big conflict with her in the company and hidden the ring, and it had only been a few minutes. There was no other possibility besides someone in the company taking the ring.
An outsider would need a card to enter, so it was impossible for an outsider to have stolen it.
Giselle took a deep breath. “Jenny, I’ll ask you again. Are you sure you haven’t seen my ring?”
“I said I didn’t see it! What can you do? Do you suspect me? Do you suspect me of stealing your ring?”
Jenny was very arrogant.
“So… can you tell me where you were during lunchtime?”
Giselle suddenly couldn’t remember if Jenny had left the company.
It was possible that Jenny was in Mickey’s private office at noon. Mickey had left the company early in the morning and still hadn’t returned.
So, it was impossible for anyone to discover anything with the doors and windows closed.
However, if Jenny had come out to steal the ring while Giselle helped her colleagues modify the PPT, it was entirely possible.
Therefore, that colleague was also one of Giselle’s suspects.
Jenny became very angry. “If you have the guts, report it to the police!”
Regardless of how others perceived her, Giselle calmly nodded. “Sure, let’s report it to the police.”
