Chapter 68
Chapter 68
Although Giselle appeared calm on the surface, her heart was roaring with excitement.
Perhaps it was just a small romantic gesture in life, but it struck her heart deeply at this moment.
Fortunately, Giselle didn’t lose her composure and walked over with a hint of restraint.
She barely managed to maintain her calmness.
But in her bright, moon–like eyes, the laughter couldn’t be hidden.
After sitting down, Giselle looked up at Hymes. “How did you suddenly think of…“,
“Last time our formal dinner was interrupted, and you didn’t enjoy it, so I wanted to make it up to you.”
He finished speaking and went to the kitchen to bring out the other dishes.
“Although it’s a bit simple, I hope you’ll be satisfied. I’ll make up for it next time.”
“Not simple at all! It’s great!” Giselle truly didn’t expect him to pull off such a romantic move. “I didn’t know you were such a thoughtful person.”
“I’m just learning as I go.” Hymes showed her his phone. “I found tips online.”
His sincerity only endeared him more to Giselle, knowing he wasn’t a man with a lot of dating experience, but he did all this 10 get closer to her.
Hymes was trying to get closer to her.
“Hymes… I really like it, thank you.”
“Your satisfaction is my honor.”
Hymes poured the decanted wine into wine glasses. Giselle blinked. “I didn’t know I had these things in my house.”
With a smile in his eyes, Hymes replied, “Sorry, I bought them secretly.”
Giselle lifted her chin slightly and smiled radiantly. “Whether you tell me or not, after you buy them, they become our shared property as husband and wife.”
“With utmost pleasure.”
The candlelight flickered on Hymes‘ sharp features, giving off an incredibly charming aura.
Wrapped in his burning gaze, Giselle felt her whole body heating up, her blood temperature rising dramatically.
She quickly lowered her head. “Let’s eat quickly, or it will get cold…”
Suddenly, only the sound of cutlery cutting through steak and occasionally clashing with the plate could be heard.
There was no need to be so cautious in their own home, but Giselle couldn’t help sneaking glances at Hymes, who seemed so refined and elegant even when cutting a steak.
He was a fierce and imposing man, yet when eating steak, he had an aristocratic air about him.
Hymes must have had a good upbringing.
Giselle secretly sighed. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have raised such a man who appeared aloof but was actually a considerate gentleman.
Chapter 68
Perhaps it was because she was lost in thought that she stared at Hymes for too long.
Once he caught her gaze, they both stared at each other.
Giselle felt as if her soul was about to be drawn into his eyes.
The atmosphere around them suddenly became ambiguous, and on this summer rainy night, the complex scent from outside seeped in.
It lingered in Giselle’s breath, gradually corroding her senses, as if something was about to happen…
Before Giselle could react, Hymes stood up and slowly walked over to her. Then, he bent down and looked at her.
“You…
Giselle opened her mouth but didn’t know what to say, fearing that anything she said would ruin the moment.
She found herself captivated by his deep gaze, like looking into a boundless sea, the night sky, or the stars above.
Gradually, an overwhelming desire to possess her emerged in Hymes‘ eyes, as if he was going to consume her whole in the next second.
Giselle felt panic rising within her, her face growing hotter, and the urge to escape took hold.
But then Hymes suddenly reached out and gently held her chin.
“Gigi.”
His deep, magnetic voice was incredibly seductive.
Giselle gulped nervously, unable to look away. “What…”
Hymes‘ tone was full of temptation. “May I give my wife a kiss at this moment?”
Before their wedding. Hymes had said they wouldn’t need to share a bed or engage in excessive displays of affection after marriage.
But he never said they could only maintain such restraint…
After all, they were legally married.
Yet, Hymes was so cautious and gentle in asking her opinion before attempting to cross that line, even though his eyes seemed to be hooks that could steal her heart away.
Giselle bit her lip.
Her already flushed lips, made even more vibrant after drinking, looked like the most beautiful flower, delicate and tempting.
The man in front of her gulped hard, using all his self–control to maintain their distance, not taking another step closer.
“I…
Giselle was too shy to say yes, but she didn’t want to refuse either.
She decided to follow her true feelings at this moment.
Overcoming her usual composure, she quickly lifted her head and landed the lightest of kisses on Hymes‘ lips, like a feather brushing past.
Immediately after, she tried to escape his possessive gaze.
But it was too late for her to run.
Hymes wouldn’t give her another chance to escape. He firmly held her delicate neck, forcing Giselle to look up at him.
Then, he kissed her again.
This time, however, he didn’t do anything to frighten Giselle. Even though his blood boiled with desire, he let go at the crucial moment.
Hymes looked tenderly at Giselle’s flushed face, his fingers gently brushing her skin.
“Shy?”
“Who, who’s shy? You didn’t even warn me!”
Only when she spoke did she realize her voice was trembling.
“I asked for your permission, and you agreed, right?”
Giselle hesitated before asking. “So you kissed me, and…”
“The marriage.
“I’m serious. Hymes‘ tone became solemn again. “So, I think one of us has to take this step, at least to be sure we’re not just playing around, don’t you think?”
He made a good point and Giselle was unable to refute it.
Placing her hand on his chest, she shyly pushed him away. “I understand…”
Although her posture seemed to resist, she had already accepted his explanation..
Hymes knew when to stop, as even that brief, fleeting kiss had made it difficult for him to control himself. So, it was indeed time to step back.
After dinner, Giselle no longer had the courage to stay in the same room with Hymes, and she quickly retreated upstairs.
Feeling the need to vent, she reached out to her friend Kila. [I’m going crazy. Hymes just kissed me!!]
[Finally, you two are making progress! What happened? Tell me all the details!]
[You’re such a gossip!]
[I’m just curious… So, what happened?]
