Chapter 52
“Why are you leaving already?”
“We’re not done eating yet… don’t rush off!”
Unfortunately, Nora ignored everyone’s pleas to stay, walking away quickly as if a demon were chasing her from behind.
She even forgot to pretend to be polite while leaving
Seeing Nora leave, a department member finally couldn’t help but mock her. Tve never liked her, always trying to find fault with Giselle…
“Nora just had to think Giselle was lying. Now she knows, not everyone is as vain as her!”
“Yeah, Giselle, you’re so low–key, having such a husband and not showing off.”
Giselle tried to clarify, “You guys misunderstood. My husband isn’t
“Alright, let’s leave this topic behind! The party is to celebrate Margot and me getting married. We’ll take this opportunity to give you our invitations in person…
Everyone’s attention shifted. “Wow, you’re getting married soon?”
“That’s so fast. We thought it would be a while.”
Margot shyly smiled Tm pregnant, so we need to have the wedding soon”
Everyone naturally congratulated them. Giselle received the invitation and noted that the wedding was next week.
She nodded Tll try my best to make time to attend your wedding”
“Great We hope you can come!
They chatted about some old memories before the party finally ended. Kila and Giselle left the room together, and Kila asked. “Where are you going next?”
“Hymes said he’s coming to pick me up. What about you?”
Til head home first…”
“Let’s go together Maybe Mr. Desmund is still around.”
Kila blinked. “What do you mean?”
Giselle tapped her forehead. “You’re usually quite clever, but you’re acting so silly today!”
After a moment of confusion, Kila understood Giselle’s meaning and became ecstatic. “Really?! You’re really going to help
me?”
“If he’s still here… I’ll introduce you, but I can’t guarantee anything beyond that.”
Kila shook her head excitedly. “No need! As long as I can talk to him for a bit. I’ll be happy!”
In Kila’s eyes. Neville was like a god on a pedestal, with an unbeaten record in recent years, casting an envious and awe- inspiring aura around him
So, as long as she could speak with Neville, Kila felt she could bask in his good fortune, not daring to think of anything

Chapter 52
After Giselle called Hymes, he quickly appeared by her side.
The flirtatious man from before was gone, but Neville was still there.
Giselle quietly breathed a sigh of relief.
“Is it over?” Hymes quickly stood in front of Giselle.
“Yeah, it’s over, and my classmates have all gone home.”
“Good, let’s go home too.” Hymes casually draped his arm around Giselle’s shoulder.
At such an affectionate gesture, Giselle’s heart raced, but she tried to maintain a casual demeanor on the surface.
Kila stood beside Giselle like a young wife, a far cry from the demeanor she displayed earlier while probing Hymes on Giselle’s behalf.
Neville nodded at that moment. “I’ll be leaving now.”
Hymes spoke calmly. “Alright, we’ll discuss tonight’s matters later.”
Seeing Neville about to leave, Giselle hurriedly spoke up, somewhat enthusiastically asking, “Is Mr. Desmund going home?”
Neville glanced over with a hint of suspicion.
Hymes‘ eyes darkened, and he clenched his teeth.
Using a bit of force, he held Giselle tightly in his arms, ensuring a sense of security.
As for what Giselle intended to do in his arms… Hymes could only wait quietly.
Neville courteously replied. “Yes.”
“My friend also needs to go home, and she’s a lawyer too… Would it be too much trouble for you to give her a lift, Mr. Desmund?”
Giselle felt audacious for even making such a request.
Thanks to her observation of their conversation earlier, she sensed that Neville was likely not arrogant and was actually quite nice, which gave her the courage to be so bold.
Upon learning Giselle’s true intentions, Hymes finally relaxed his clenched teeth, and with a teasing tone, said, “Mr. Desmund, we’ll trouble you with this.”
Considering the car, Neville glanced at Kila and gave a nonchalant nod.
There was no emotion, as if he didn’t take Kila seriously.
Though Kila felt disheartened, she knew it was normal. After all, there was no comparison between a renowned top lawyer like Neville and a newbie like herself. She didn’t need any extra attention.
As long as she could get a chance to be near Neville, Kila was happy. She gratefully said, “Thank you, Mr. Desmund! You just need to drop me off at the nearby subway station!”
The South Club, where they were, had no nearby subway or bus stops, as those who could afford to patronize the establishment wouldn’t need public transportation. So, naturally, this wasn’t a consideration.
Neville agreed indifferently.
When Neville turned to leave, Kila hurriedly followed him, exchanging a knowing look with Giselle.

Giselle heaved a sigh of relief and then asked Hymes, “Will Mr. Desmund be unhappy?”
“What would you do if he was?”
“…” Giselle nervously clutched the hem of Hymes‘ clothes. “I don’t know. I just wanted to help Kila. She really admires Mr. Desmund, and when I found out you knew him, I just…”
Giselle pouted. looking as if she were about to cry.
Hymes quickly softened his tone and reassured her in a comforting tone, “It’s fine. Mr. Desmund is a nice person.”
Landing the nickname “Iron–faced God of Justice” in the industry, Neville had no idea he had just received a positive review. from someone today.
Relieved, Giselle said. “That’s good. Kila won’t do anything. At most, she’ll consult Mr. Desmund on work–related topics, hoping to learn from him and gain some experience.”
Hymes had no interest in discussing Giselle’s friend. He held her as they walked out. “Why didn’t you tell me you were having dinner here today?”
Upon hearing his tone, which sounded like he was looking for an explanation, Giselle hurriedly clarified, “I didn’t tell you because I thought you were busy with work, and I never expected to run into you here… Was the other man you were with today a client?”
“Yes.” Hymes managed to maintain a poker face, figuring that the description more or less fit, even though the true client was actually himself.
He was the one paying the bills.
Meanwhile, Andy, who had left early, suddenly felt a tickle in his nose and was overcome by the urge to sneeze.
