Chapter 2: The Surprise in the Room
"Alex is still waiting for me to celebrate my birthday together. I'm leaving first." After Maisy finished speaking, she walked to Old Master Hussain, Arthur Hussain. Arthur Hussain, the man in power of HOSS Group, was Alex's grandfather. Although he was over seventy years old, he was full of energy and had the prestige.
Maisy rarely attended such banquets. The reason she would attend tonight's banquet was that Old Master Hussain asked her to help him entertain the guests as the granddaughter-in-law of Hussain Family. In order not to shame on Alex and Hussain Family, she had been working very hard.
She rarely entertained guests. In order not to be laughed at by others at the banquet today, she did her best in private.
However, after some socializing, she was a little tired, so she found an excuse to leave.
For today's banquet, Hussain Family had booked the rooms for the guests.
Her room was also upstairs. After entering the elevator, the smile on her face faded away, replaced by unspeakable crying, sadness, loneliness and grievance.
Not only was she inexplicably slandered, but there was also a lot of gossips about the president of HOSS Group, Alex. After the news that slandered her recently broke out, everyone turned their attention to her.
As for Alex, he didn't want to see her. She had been married with him for a year, but Alex had gone home only a few times.
Moreover, she and Alex were just the nominal couple. After one year of marriage, Alex had never had sex with her.
When she just heard the comments of the ladies, she cared about it. She felt sad and disappointed.
The reason why she defended and rebutted was because today was the banquet held by Hussain Family. As Alex's nominal wife, she must protect the reputation of Hussain Family and Alex's. Besides, she still held a glimmer of hope for Alex.
Although a year had passed, she still remembered the scene when Alex knelt on one knee and proposed to her a year ago.
Every sentence, every word, every expression when he said at that time was kept into her mind by her.
He asked her to marry him with such a serious tone and such a sincere expression. She really couldn't figure out why he suddenly changed after they got married.
A deep sorrow flashed through her eyes. Her eyes had tears unconsciously.
After coming out of the elevator, she walked to the door of the reserved room. Looking up at the room number, she swiped the card and opened the door to enter.
After closing the door, she turned around and looked up. She was startled.
Her husband, Alex, was actually in her room. The room that was supposed to be cold was filled with a romantic and warm atmosphere at this moment.
Rose petals were scattered on the bright yellow floor. By the window, there was a red rose tied with a red ribbon with gold rim and in full bloom on the dining table which was covered with exquisite tablecloths. In addition, there were birthday candles, precious red wine, and two crystal clear red wine glasses.
The candlelight flickered. Maisy's eyes trembled slightly. She stood in place.
Alex, with a handsome face and sturdy body, saw her standing still, so he walked to her. He smiled at her and said, "Maisy, happy birthday."
Happy Birthday?
Hearing these two words, Maisy looked up at him in astonishment.
Did she get it wrong? He even said happy birthday to her.
It was completely nonsense that she told those ladies that Alex was helping her arrange a birthday party.
But she didn't expect Alex to really prepare the birthday party in the room and was still waiting for her in her room.
She felt like crying. Was she dreaming?
Or did the God hear her prayer? So the God made her husband who she had been waiting for a year in silence change his mind?
Seeing that she stared at him without speaking, Alex asked, "What's wrong? What are you thinking about?"
Maisy looked at him, "You remember my birthday?"
Alex replied, "Of course. I remember that today next month is your 22nd birthday."
"You know it's next month. Why today..."
"I want to celebrate birthday to you in advance. Let's sit down first." After Alex said this, he stretched out his big hand gracefully towards Maisy.
Seeing the hand that he stretched over, Maisy's heart was trembling. She had a dreamlike feeling.
He hadn't been so gentle to her for a long time. Since she married him, he had been very cold and indifferent to her.
During this year, he had been facing her with a cold and arrogant attitude.
Seeing her stunned, Alex took her little hand with one hand and pulled her to the beautifully decorated and romantic dining table.
He first pulled open the chair for Maisy like a gentleman. After she sat down, he sat down.
Immediately he poured two glasses of wine and handed one of them to Maisy, "Maisy, happy birthday. Cheers."
Hearing his calling her Maisy, Maisy's eyes moistened again. He hadn't called her like this for a long time. This calling evoked countless memories between her and him. There were warm, sad, painful, and aggrieved things...
Thinking of all the grievances in the past year, she bit her lower lip and tried not to cry out sadly.
Her husband changed his mind, didn't he? There was nothing to cry.☐☐☐☐☐☐☐
