Chapter 4 

“What nonsense are you talking about? 

Ethan shouted, clutching his phone tightly. “I know it! Did Sienna put you up to this? You’re If you side with her again, you’re fired.”

After hanging up, he turned to me, fury in his eyes. “Sienna, you’ve got some nerve, bribing even my butler to speak for you.” 

I looked at him like he was a clown. 

Normally sharp, Ethan now seemed foolish and arrogant. 

Ethan sneered, “You think bribing the butler will make me believe your lies? I don’t believe you can bribe everyone here.” 

He made a few calls to the maids in the villa, receiving the same response each time. 

“Sir, Ms. Ward has passed away.” 

“Ms. Ward had a cramp and drowned in the pool. We did our best, but we couldn’t save her.” 

“Sienna arranged the funeral by herself. She’s had a tough time.” 

Frustrated by their answers, Ethan threw his phone to the ground in a fit of rage. 

Suddenly, his friend Tom Jones exclaimed, picking up a piece of paper that had fallen from my pocket 

when I was hit. 13 14 

“Ethan…” Tom’s voice trembled as he handed the paper to Ethan. 

Realizing what it was, Ethan snatched it. 

His body shook as he saw my mother’s name on the death certificate. 

He looked at me in disbelief. “How could this happen?” 

His hands trembled, and the paper slipped from his grasp, falling to the ground again. 

Like a child who had done something wrong, he rushed toward me. “Sienna, I really didn’t know. How could this happen? I was just… just playing around. I didn’t know it would come to this.”
