Moon Child

Chapter 2

“What is your name.”

The deep timbre of his voice snapped her out of her thoughts. She had to get out of here. Her body was humming with a lustful desire and that would only bring her trouble.

Her hands tightened on her upper arms, trying her best to stay calm. Dirty thoughts of naked limbs and a languid grin on the face of a man she straddled like a desperate whore, many other women gathering around to please him as well, embedded itself within her mind. Her heart raced as she tried to step back, the animal in her whimpering, only to lose her footing and gasp as she fell backward into the water. There had been a dip in the ground behind her, arms flying away from her breasts as she was taken aback in surprise.

Large hands grabbed her by the upper arms and pulled her to the water's surface, her plump breasts pressing up against a rock-hard torso as she gasped for a breath and moved her hands to wipe the water out of her eyes. When she had settled down she realized just how close they had become. Practically one form where there had been two only moments before.

She was frozen, hands in the air as his hold on her remained. Her nipples resumed the position of tight buds, begging for his attention as she felt something hard move against her thigh. He was holding her feet off the ground slightly, but it wasn’t the least bit uncomfortable as she was simply floating within the water. Still, the position made it blatantly obvious what was pressing into her thigh like a thick, long rod.

Her fear jumped up a notch as she trembled within his grasp. If he wanted to he could take her in that moment and no one would be the wiser. She was a lone wolf after all, no one would come to her rescue from such a powerful changeling male. She was ripe for the taking, and half of her wanted it while the other half feared it.

“Please…let me go…”

Her words had no backing, her willpower shot to hell. Letting her go was the last thing she wanted him to do. He was taller than her by almost a foot, his hands could cover her whole face, his muscular legs could almost rival the size of her waist. The scars he bore were a testament to his strength and vicious nature, and yet she could not make herself fight his hold.

Something inside of her, the human within, begged for her to run. The wolf? She begged to be held by another of her own kind, kissed under the moonlight and ravaged like an animal. She wanted to be fucked from behind, ass in the air as a large cock rammed her over and over again. She wanted to be filled with the seed of a male worthy of her cubs. The woman shivered as her green irises began to swirl with a silver so light it mirrored the moonlight.

“Your name.”

This time it was a command, his timbre rough. He could see her struggle to take in a slight breath, but she refused to lift her gaze from his chest. If she met his eyes she might just lose her sanity all together.

“Dawn. My name is Dawn.”

Her nipples were painfully tight, his hands warm as large fingers embedded their print into her flesh. She wanted to escape his grasp, but not nearly as much as she wanted his body to remain plastered against her own. She had seemed to calm down slightly, no longer filled with anxious fear as she had been when he first appeared before her.

He listened as her heart rate slowed to a more normal speed. Was she not afraid of him? Surely she knew him from the scars on his chest and the stories that had spread far and wide, yet she ignored the obvious warnings her animalistic side must be screaming within her curvaceous flesh. Perhaps she was in shock?

He had his share of women, human and changeling, and they had all been different sizes and heights. Still, none of them compared to the perfection that stood before him. Could she feel the same desire and need he felt? It was a stupid question, because if he felt this strongly toward her it was not something he had the choice to keep to himself. No, this was fate.

Her silky tresses, that soft looking skin kissed by the sun and blessed by the moon, her light emerald gaze sparkling with life yet dark with reality, and that was only for starters. Gods, he felt his erection grow as his gaze moved to her breasts, full and begging for his touch. He knew she wouldn’t be able to resist him, not if she was unmated. An alpha could take anyone as a mate as long as they weren’t spoken for by another, and even then there were certain circumstances that allowed said male to cross the line.

She smelled of fresh blossoms and hints of the earth around them, but no males. Her voice was a soft tone, like that of a woman that carried her heart above her head. He had sniffed her out the second she touched the border of his territory, but he didn’t confront her immediatley like he usually did to newcomers. No, she was different somehow. He had watched her for a bit, realizing quickly that she was not one with the animal within. She was a human before she was a beast, and he had only heard of a few cases where the being could fight the change as she had.

“Ok Dawn, what are you doing here?”

He got back to business, eyes trying to catch hers as she still refused to look up. She stiffened. She was tense once again, her heart picking up the pace as her breath came out sweetly ragged. Gods, what he wouldn’t give to make her breathless in other ways. He wanted so badly to take her, pushing himself between her thighs in an attempt to mark what he wanted as his and his alone.

“I just wanted to wash off. I didn’t realize this was your territory.”

A dark brown eyebrow rose over his eye. Was she serious? How could she not smell his scent all over the place? He had been able to smell her from miles away, and even smelled the dog blood that she had tried so hard to scrub from her hands. He knew where she had changed back to her human form, the path she took to the lake, everything. How could she not smell him? Was she that off balance with her animal instincts?

She tried to leave his hands, but he refused to allow her such a luxury. He did, however, move his hands to new positions. One moved to her waist, locking her in place against him, while the other moved into her thick curls at the side of her head to force her gaze upward into his own. Her irises shown a strikingly brilliant silver as she tried to stay calm.

“I swear I had no clue. If I had I would’ve…”

Her voice trailed off as he glanced down at her mouth, transfixed by the amazing way she entranced him with her voice. The tone was clearly woven from the threads of sirens and pixies magic. Something far too light and sweet to come out of such sinful lips. She knew what he was thinking, his next move, but she didn’t want to allow it. His eyes, a blue so pure it was unrealistic, had her heart skipping a beat. She was right, she couldn’t handle his gaze. It was all knowing, hard, sexy, sweet, lustful, and above all it felt like home. She wanted his kiss like it was a drug and she was an addict, but that couldn’t be healthy.

An image from her past shocked the animal within, causing her to suddenly push away from him, catching him off guard as she began to swim backwards. He was surprised at first, giving her the upper hand as she made sure they had ample space between them. When he locked gazes with her again her eyes grew wide as she realized her mistake. She had been so caught up in the past that the present had evaded her. She had meant to save herself, but what she had done might have just sealed her fate in a more drastic way.

“I don’t mean you any disrespect I just…”

He was suddenly before her, no space to save her now as his lips caught hers roughly, and suddenly his hand was on her hip again. His free hand moved to lay over the space between her thighs as if he owned her body and would do with it as he pleased. She froze, fear and adrenaline rushing through her veins. The desire to give in to him was far too strong, tears gathering in her eyes as she remembered the hell she had once escaped only to find herself trapped again. She didn’t want to be tied down, to fear the binding contract that most female changelings fell prey to. She refused to be an alpha’s whore or a baby making machine for a village of beasts. She wouldn’t allow herself such a fate.

She leaned her head back, gasping as his lips moved to her neck to nip at her flesh. The shadow of facial hair along his jaw brushed roughly across her skin, making a shiver lay claim to her spine as she tried to get a hold of herself. Her heart was racing, hands moving to his chest as she tried to stop the traitorous tears within her eyes.

“Please…don’t…”

With all her might she pushed against his chest, but he was ready this time and refused to budge. Her body was on fire with need, and though her human half refused him the animal within could barely wait to spread her legs wide open and welcome him in.

“Can’t you feel it? Fighting it will only cause us both pain.”

She had wanted to appear strong and unafraid, but she was scared to death beyond reason. She knew the feelings within her, the basic instincts to mate, except this was a thousand times stronger. If she was right, which was rare, then that would make him her…

“I can’t…”

What if he was like the others? Memories lashed out within her mind as a tear escaped the corner of her eye. She couldn’t allow this, but what could she do? Her body wanted him, but her heart wanted something far deeper than rough sex and the basic instincts to mate and raise their young. She wanted more than to be a slave for the males as they fucked every female in their path. She begged for mercy, but the moon held none.

As his hand moved from her most private parts to her lower stomach she suddenly remembered the stories she had heard of an alpha with scars covering his torso and eyes the color of clear water that shimmered like jewels. His hand continued to move upward, finally slipping into her hair as he forced their eyes to meet. Her voice was barely a whisper, but he heard her clear as day.

“Are you…Kane?”

His lips pulled up on one side, head moving up once and down once in a quick nod.

“It took you long enough, but you’re still so new to this world, so I will give you a pass.”

So she had been right. He was the alpha everyone was talking about. The murderous beast of blood and war. He was the one they all feared yet envied, the men wanted his power and the women wanted his seed. She had fallen into the lap of the worst of them all, a monster among them that was far crueler than the demons in her past.

“You’re an alpha?”

He nodded once more, hand tightening on her hip as he held her close. She had only been a changeling for five years, but in that time she had heard enough stories to know she was in big trouble. Alphas weren’t known for their soft touches or gentle ways. No, they were known for their vicious desire to fuck and kill and nothing more. They didn’t mate for life, but rather they spread their seed as far as they could before their death, which was usually untimely.

“You smell amazing, like the freshest blooms of spring mixed with the purest grains of the earth. It’s intoxicating, like poison running through my system and dimming my senses until I can only see you. You’re making me hard just by smelling you, looking at you is driving me to insanity.”

Her legs trembled as she leaned her head back again, allowing him to nuzzle her neck. One large hand covered a breast, squeezing as his thumb ran over the nipple. She couldn’t help but moan as his tongue ran along the flesh of her shoulder. He wanted to taste every inch of her sweet flesh. It made her wet between the thighs, his body hard against her and begging to be touched. She shivered once more.

“Please don’t hurt me.”

His touch loosened suddenly, tongue moving away as he looked down at her. What had she said? Why would she say such a thing? She met his gaze, breath hitching as he moved a hand toward her face. She flinched out of reflex, closing her eyes against the inevitable pain that would be left behind by his hand. When nothing happened she frowned, opening her eyes slowly to see that he was stock still. His pupils had dilated, blue eyes now a solid onyx as his hand gently cupped her cheek.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to disrespect you. I promise I won’t say another word, so…”

He covered her lips with his thumb to silence her. She was anxious, fear riding high in her bloodstream as a memory flashed through his mind. His younger sister had flinched away from him only once in her lifetime, but it had been enough to shoot up a red flag within his mind. Something in him began to shake, as if it might break. His control perhaps? He had never hit a woman, and he wouldn’t start now. However, he had killed plenty of changelings in his time and he was ready to add another one to the list.

The moment he smelled Dawn he had connected with her in a way only a true blood can connect with their soulmate. He knew the moment he saw her, trying to fight the change deep within the woods, that she was strong and yet flawed. Much like himself. When he stood before her, naked and vulnerable beyond belief, he put trust in her that she hadn’t yet earned. Now, as he looked down into metallic eyes, he vowed to behead the bastard that harmed her and made her fear him before ever getting to know him. He would enjoy using only his bare hands to rip the SOB apart one piece at a time.

She tried to calm her racing heart, his gaze probing deep within her soul as she tried to figure out how to fix the situation. Had she angered him? It wouldn’t be the first time she made another being mad on accident, but she had never found the perfect solution to such a problem.

“Kane? Have I angered you? I’m sorry…I did not mean to. Please forgive me.”

He leaned down, laying a gentle kiss upon her lips before speaking.

“You can’t know how much it pains me to see you flinch at the thought of my touch. I know you are new to our world, but if you can not trust anything else trust that I would never hurt you.”

Her eyes grew wide. His voice was soft, calming as well as reassuring. Just when she thought things couldn’t get more complicated, now she had met an alpha with a conscience. Great, just what she needed.

The animal in her purred, the human sighed peacefully, and she acted without a second thought. Reaching out to him, hand slipping around the back of his neck, she moved to meet his lips with hers. They were soft, his mouth a luxury she wanted to indulge in often. He was the peace she had been looking for, a feeling of safety she had been craving for so long that she gave into it far too easily.

He deepened the kiss, tongue running along her bottom lip as she pressed herself against his front like plaster. He wanted nothing more than to claim her as his mate, but something in him urged him to stop. Wait for her approval.

He would leave mating for another time, grabbing her hand to lead her out of the water. At the moment all this woman needed was to be held close by a man who would never purposefully bring harm upon her. If nothing else he had learned that a woman’s trust was a fragile thing, and despite himself he wanted nothing more than to gain this woman’s trust. She followed behind with little protest, and soon they were at the entrance of a small community in the middle of the woods.
