Missing Mrs. Lowry: The Billionaire’s Wakeup Call

Chapter 20

Chapter 20

Because there was no need for it!

The reason for his loss of control today, he thought, was because of Begonia. It wasn’t because he cared for Megan.

Sullivan shifted to a mom comfortable position.

Just as Megan was about to leave, however, Sullivan grabbed her hand. “Hold on a sec!”

Then, with a single hand, he took out a pack of cigarettes, and lit it up.

Soon, the car was filled with a then haze of smoke.

Sullivan turned to look at Megan, His gaze was familiar to Megan, the same way he looked when conducting business, void of any

emotion

After finishing the cigarette, Sullivan pulled out a bank card from his wallet and handed it to Megan. “It’s my supplementary card, with a monthly limit of two million. If that’s not enough, I have Blanca top it up.”

Megan looked at the card, feeling a stir in her heart.

Indeed, this was the kind of treatment she had once longed for

After the Quigley family’s downfall, she was in dire need of money. So, even though she felt humbled, she still accepted the hundred thousand Sullivan gave her each month.

But now, she was painfully aware of what accepting this card meant.

It meant that she had to go back to being Mrs. Lowry.

It meant that she had to serve him meticulously in every aspect of life, just like before. And she would have to mold herself into the image he found aesthetically pleasing, satisfy all his desires in bed, and accompany him to various social events. All she needed to be was beautiful and obedient, without a soul.

Because that’s exactly what Sullivan was buying!

Megan rejected his card. She clutched the car door, speaking softly, “Sullivan, your kindness comes too late! Even now, you still don’t understand why we can’t make it work,”

The car was originally dim.

Sullivan reached out and turned on the interior light.

Megan found it glaring and instinctively closed her eyes.

Sullivan idly played with the bank card, his voice mocking. “Are you talking about feelings? Megan, do you really think there’s still room for us to develop feelings? Don’t forget how we got married in the first place!”

His expression turned cold. “So, don’t demand for what’s not yours!”

Megan didn’t want to explain anymore. She looked tired, “is that meant for Cressida then? Sullivan, if you care about her that much, why don’t you marry her? A woman’s first time isn’t all that important. Back then, yes, we were intimate, but if you didn’t want to marry me, I wouldn’t have mattered. And now wouldn’t divorce be better?”

Megan was truly exhausted, her voice barely above a whisper

With that, she opened the car door, got out, and walked away without looking back.

Sullivan didn’t stop her. He sat in the car, expressionless, and after a long while, he lazily reached out to turn off the dome light. As the light went off, his eyes inadvertently caught sight of the crumpled tissues stained with Megan’s nectar

Sullivan remembered their earlier intimacy. He had noticed the change in Megan. In the past, if he had been intimate with her in such a place, she would have cried for a long time, no matter how pleasurable it was.

But just now, she seemed utterly indifferent.

She left decisively!

Sullivan leaned back in his seat raising a hand to rub his forehead. He was highly ambitious in his career, so unlike other men, his private life wasn’t as thrilling. He didn’t love Megan, but she was beautiful and compliant enough. Sullivan had no interest in wasting his attention on other women.

Now, a wife who wouldn’t come home had left him distressed and disturbed.
