Chapter 25
I hadn't seen Ronin or Emrick since last night. I assumed that Ronin was helping Emrick through his recovery from drinking Jaime's blood.
The waiting was getting to me, so I walked to the library and flopped down on a chair. I didn't even read the title of the book, I barely read the words that seemed to blur together on the page. I didn't know who was going to be accompying me to Rose's house. I couldn't keep still, so I returned the book back to its position upon the shelf and found myself wandering the around the house and walking through the back door and into the garden. It wasn't big, or extravagant, it was modest and along the borders of the yard, native tree's stood strong and tall against the silver light of the moon. I found myself thinking, was Emrick older than the tree's that surrounded me. The tree's provided enough cover so that the vampires could walk freely during daylight hours without the symptoms of sun sickness ailing them.
I let my mind ease as a soft breeze blew around me, teasing my hair, and making the canopy above me whisper ancient songs in a language lost to us long ago.
A faint voice in the distance interrupted my enjoyment of the outdoors.
"Princess Misha, Where are you? Misha..."
The voice was too faint, I couldn't recognise who was calling me.
"I'm over here." I replied as loud as I could.
It didn't take long for Ronin's silhouette to appear in the doorway.
"Come, Princess. I will be accompying you to visit Rose. It's time. Follow me."
I followed Ronin out onto the stone street. We hardly talked as our footsteps tip -tapped on the stone. I had enough of the silence.
"How's Sir Emrick this evening, Ronin?" I questioned.
"He has spent most of the day sleeping. He will be fine by this time tomorrow." He replied.
"Who's with him now?"
"The butler, Princess. He offered to look after Emrick while I was with you. Rose's house is just around the next corner." He answered, trying to avoid talking of Emrick further.
As we turned the corner, we stopped at the door of a wooden dwelling.
" This is it, Princess. You must knock. Go ahead."
I took in a deep breath and with a shaking hand I banged on the door.
I heard footsteps and the door opened just enough that a face peeked through the gap.
"Ah! Princess Misha, please come inside. You can also join us Ronin."
We both entered through the door, Rose led us outside. She had a small covered area attached to the house, where vines gave that little extra privacy.
Rose motioned for Ronin and I to sit, funnily enough there were already 2 seats waiting for us.
Once we were seated Rose looked back and forth between Ronin and myself. An awkward Silence hung between us.Rose motioned for me to put my hands in hers.
"Before I begin. Are you sure you really want to do this Princess? You might not like what you learn." I nodded my head,
"I'm ready to learn of my heritage. Please continue."
Rose let out a large sigh, closed her eyes and held my hands tightly. An eerie silence surrounded us.
"Your Father was once a good man, he respected Luca, and held him close to his heart. This all changed when your namesake Micah the voiceless lover became an important part of Luca's life.
Jealousy and anger raged within Sir Tristan, how could a man he held in such high regard and a man that he had given up any chance he could have of a normal life with a wife and kids, for him. He swore to protect the Prince with his life, and would've willingly died for him even up until his untimely death. All he got in return was to be thrown aside like a used up toy and a piece of garbage. He adored Luca, he may have even loved him.
The rejection ate him up inside, he wanted revenge, he also wanted to be noticed and loved by Luca once again. When he was asked by your mother to spy on Prince Luca, he blatantly refused her request. But your mother was beautiful; a lustful urge and a promise too tantalising to refuse made it impossible to decline your mother's offer. A hope also started to grow inside Sir Tristan, if Micah dies, then he will become important to Prince Luca once again.
You and your brother were the results of that promise. But your mother certainly made sure Sir Tristan would never speak of that promise again. She killed him, poison was her weapon of choice.
Tristan Conri was his name and now the Conri bloodline is what runs through your veins.
The Conri's are one of the oldest of the Werewolf bloodlines. Your ancestors once ruled all werewolve clans as King. So not only are you human royalty you are a direct descendent of werewolf royalty too.
Alas, your Ancestors were ripped from the throne by another bloodline 300 years ago. This bloodline; the Varg's are still ruling the werewolf clans to this day. Now the Conri bloodline are nothing more than simple peasents. The Varg's made sure of this.
You have a grandmother, grandfather and an aunt left. They are unaware that you are Sir Tristan's daughter, they assume you are the offspring of King Luca.
After our session today, and if you wish. I will send a letter to the Conri family letting them know that you are Sir Tristan's daughter. I will not tell them of your Mother's sin or of your twin brother's existence, as we are not aware if he gained the werewolf trait. The last thing you need is a powerful werewolf family or clan seeking revenge. I fear your mother would not survive, if this was to happen."
Rose took in a long, deep breath before continuing.
"Now we move on to the wolf that stalks your dreams. He is not evil, he is your wolf side, embrace him, Misha. He will be the key to unlocking the werewolf powers that are deep within you, deep within your blood."
I interuppted Rose,
"I can't do that, Rose. Every time he visits my dreams, I get a dark and sinking feeling. Then I become fearful, he stalks me from the shadows his red eyes are all I see. He is waiting for the opportune moment to attack me.
When he attacks, I feel it. The first time he attacked me in my dreams he ripped open my stomach, ripped out my insides and when I woke, my first moon blood had started. I dont see that as my wolf side begging to be embraced, so my werewolf powers can be unlocked. I see it as my wolf side wanted to devour my human side and take control. But seeing as I am me, my human side is not going to let my wolf side control me."
Rose shook her head in disagreeance.
" He is trying to get your attention Misha. Next time he visits you, talk to him, don't fear him."
I was apprehensive of Rose's suggestion, but I thought, what was the harm in doing as she said?
We talked further of the relationship between werewolves and vampires. I learned that the original vampires treated werewolves like scum upon their shoes. Werewolves were used to guard vampire castle's, they used werewolves as pit dogs, often they would be made to fight to the death purely for the rich vampire's entertainment.
One day the werewolves revolted against their vampire 'master's' and a bloodbath ensued. Many vampires were lost, whole bloodlines were destroyed in a single month. Some of the bloodlines lost were as old as the vampire race itself.
The werewolves suffered the same fate. They suffered even more losses when they refused to cooperate and agree to fight battles beside the human race. They swore to never allow themselves to suffer at the hands of another race, like they suffered at the hands of the vampires.
They remained true to their oath. Even when vampires conceded defeat, to save their people and agreed to help the human's when needed. The werewolves refused.
As a result of the vampire agreement with human's, they were safe, the werewolves were not. They were nearly made extinct by the human's that the vampires were now allied with. That result also strained the vampire and werewolf relationship.
But according to Rose, the relationship between werewolves and vampires had recovered somewhat and they are on talking grounds, once again. So I gave Rose permission to send the letter to the Conri's, letting them know of my existance, even though I was a mere half - blood.
