Chapter Chapter Eight
Hailey’s POV
I got up thirsty and tired although I had slept for a few hours. I looked around the room that was dark except for the beam of moonlight streaming through the window. Turning to the bedside lamp and switching it on, I saw that the time was 2 in the morning. As I looked down at my tank top I noticed that it was drenched with sweat. My bedspread and blanket was also wet. I was confused as to why was I sweating so much. I walked to the en-suite for a cold shower to cool my body temperature.
Stepping under the shower it helped me cool down considerably, but I still felt a bit hot and stuffy. After an hour just sitting under the shower I stepped out and put on my robe. As sleep was no longer coming to me I walked to the balcony and sat myself comfortably on the lounge chair. I gazed at the moon which was shining brightly spreading a sense of warmth through me. Whenever I felt lost or angry or confused, just sitting under the moonlight cleared my head and sent a wave of solace within me.
I was lost in tranquility that I didn’t notice the sudden bright white light coming from the left of the balcony. As it came closer towards me I was astonished by the beauty and purity of it. Though I was scared of this sudden appearance I felt a sense of security and love. In front of my eyes this bright white light transformed into a beautiful lady.
She had black midnight blue hair, and pale smooth complexion. Her eyes were a mixture of gold, purple and blue. It was absolutely stunning and captivating. She held a serene smile on her face. She was clothed in a white silk robe that trailed behind her. She was so breathtaking that I was at a loss of words. An aura of strength and power lingered around her. She glowed with a faint light transmitting from her body.
“Hello my child, I have waited for this day for a long time.” She spoke. Her voice was filled with love and kindness. It was like sweet music to the ears. After a lot of struggling I found my voice,
“I am sorry but who are you?” I spoke in a whisper.
She smiled and stepped towards me. “I am The Goddess Luna, and you are my daughter."
Holy shit! I was standing in front of our goddess, our creator. Not everyone is blessed with her presence except if they were her devotee or a respected elder of the council. Even then I had heard she communicated through objects or only her voice was heard. Why was she standing in front of me in full form?
But then her words sunk in. ‘Daughter?’ what is she talking about. I stared at her, confusion sprawled across my face. Understanding my silence she said,
“Let me explain to you Hailey what I mean by saying you are my daughter.” I nodded and willed her to continue. She took my hand and led me into my room. She gently pushed me down on my bed and sat beside me taking my hand in hers. Her hand was as soft as silk and it filled my heart with a strange feeling that I couldn’t put my finger on. This simple gesture brought a smile on my face.
“Hailey what I am about to tell you, you have to listen carefully and don’t interrupt me.” She gently but firmly stated.
I nodded in agreement. She turned towards the window and stared as if recalling something in the past, she took a long breath and continued;
“About three thousand years ago a great war was going to occur. This war was such that my creation was on the verge of extinction. Werewolves had formed groups and planned to destroy each other for power and land. My heart ached at this new found hatred they felt for each other. The group of wolves called Talisan was one group who initiated this war and wanted to kill the rest and establish their reign. Most of these groups didn’t want to go to war but to defend themselves they agreed to fight. I knew that if this continued without a stop it was inevitable that werewolves would no longer roam on the surface of the earth. Both sides were equally powerful and loss of millions of lives was inevitable. So I thought the only thing I could do to stop this mayhem was to create someone like me among them.”
“I planted a seed from my womb in my most trusted disciple. Her name was Akira and she was a priestess at my temple. I couldn’t reproduce because I was a goddess and I have no mate. I could have used my powers to create a being identical to me but that would create imbalance in nature. All my plans were made for the benefit of the wolf world. Akira was a normal wolf and her mate was an alpha of one of the good packs. After they mated, she gave birth to my daughter who she named Maya. When Maya was 18 years the war broke out. She knew her purpose was to stop the war. She was blessed with my powers. Along with her father and the rest of the packs she defeated the Talisan and restored peace among all. But unfortunately she suffered from various injuries that caused her death.”
I was beyond touched by the history of Maya and her bravery. It hurt to know that she didn’t survive after the war. Luna turned towards me and smiled. She raised her hand to my cheeks, that’s when I noticed the moisture on them indicating I was crying.
“Why did she die? Why didn’t you save her?” I questioned her.
“She had to go. As much as I wanted to save her that was her destiny. I may sound selfish to you Hailey but fate is something no one not even I can change. I love her a lot and now she is with me in the afterlife.” She replied.
I processed all this information but couldn’t understand why she was telling me all this. She must have notice my confusion because she squeezed my hand and spoke.
“I’m telling you this because you are like Maya.”
I stared at her as this information entered me. Dumbstruck I looked at her with wide-eyes. She doesn’t mean what I think she means right. No it can’t be. I got up and walked to the window.
“I’m sorry but you got the wrong person. I can’t be your Daughter. Derek and Eve Johnson are my parents.” I argued with her.
“Hailey have you ever wondered why you don’t feel Beta power through you. Why you look nothing similar to your parents or brother? Why you feel a different power in you?”
I turned and looked at her. Though I tried to ignore it she looked similar to me. I mean we had the same hair, the purple and blue in her eyes was the same as mine. We shared the pale smooth skin. And her face was exactly like mine. Wow, I was literally staring at myself.
“If they were not my parents, then who is?”
“You mother’s name was Jane. She was a servant in one of my temples. She was like an omega of her pack which was The Lone River Pack. Though no one noticed her, I had. I loved her because she was always praying and seeking my guidance and was my true devotee. Once she was found praying in my temple. Being an omega she wasn’t allowed inside. They disowned her from the pack and she went rogue. I looked over her and gave her my seed to carry. She then met her mate in a village in Oklahoma. Her mate was a warlock and a very powerful one.”
“Wait a minute. You mean to say there are witches in this world. Wow! And I’m half witch.” I smirked. THIS WAS COOL.
“Don’t interrupt Hailey” She said in irritation.” Oops I’m sorry” But the smile remained on my face.
“Yes you are a half witch. Your father was feared by many. He was very powerful and could do great things. There aren’t many witches alive but he lived with a few in a tribe. When you were born everybody knew you were special. I had spoken with your mother and told her your uniqueness. She was proud of you.”
I smiled knowing my mother was proud of me. “But why did you create me. I mean there is no wrong in the world so why was I important?” I asked reluctantly.
“Okay so this is where you are wrong. A war like before is coming. It can cause great danger to wolves similar to the one I told you about. The reason of this war is Logan, An alpha to the pack Red Blood. He was the same wolf to slaughter your tribe and kill your father. You were three when the attack happened. Your mother ran away with you. She met Eve when she passed their territory and pleaded her to take you. Eve brought you up as her own. She didn’t know who you were because your mother died due to the loss of her mate before she could tell them about you.”
By now I was so sad that tears flowed down my face freely. My minute dream of meeting my true parents was shattered. This sudden sorrow engulfed me. I cried for the people I never meet but still loved them with my heart.
“But why did Logan kill my parents? What did they do?” I asked between my sobs.
She looked at me sadly and hugged me, while I cried on her shoulder.
“Logan was planning on ridding all the strong packs and becoming powerful. His right hand was a witch called Hena, powerful like your father. She had prophesied that the first child of Jane from the Lone River Pack would kill him and end his dream to rule the wolves. So he had ordered the death of the tribe. Your father died saving you and your mother. Logan wanted your father on his side but he refused and fought Logan with great strength. But unfortunately he was tricked by one of his own tribe member who attacked him from behind and killed him.”
I was filled with so much hatred towards Logan that I wanted to hunt him down and kill him instantly. I was boiling and all I could see was red. He took away my family from me. I felt my fangs tearing at my gums. I clenched my fists and my nails dug into my palm.
“Hailey calm down.” Luna cooed in my ear. She placed her hand on my fists and unclenched them. I looked at her and she smiled back,
“You will get the revenge you seek. But you need to train. Did you realize the control you have on fire and water?” She knowingly asked.
I smirked slightly remembering yesterday’s events, “Yes I do. But I tired later in the night but couldn’t do anything to create it again.” I pointed out sadly.
“Don’t worry my child you will learn. Tomorrow someone will come to you and train you. She is a witch who was close to your father. Learn well Hailey and Practice well. And remember I will always be with you. I love you Hailey and I know you will fulfill your destiny.”
She stood up to leave and I followed her. As she stepped out of the window she turned to me and hugged me. I hugged her back. She was my mother and I was overwhelmed by this fact.
“I love you too, Mother.” I whispered. It felt nice calling her that. She smiled at me and kissed my head. As she turned to leave, a nagging thought came to my head.
“Wait!” She turned and looked at me questioningly. “Who is my father?”
She smiled and said, “His name was Elijah Farcies.”
Saying this she turned into a ball of light and shot up in the sky where she vanished into the dark night.
