Chapter 20
Chapter 20
Willow gave it a thought. "No."
Lianne snapped back, "In that case, what's the meaning of you telling me that?”
Taken aback by Lianne's feistiness, Willow was at a loss for words.
Tneed to rest now." Lianne showed Willow the door.
Willow sauntered out of Lianne's room and took out her phone to dial a number. "Ma'am, Mr. Atlas' new assistant is young and pretty, but Mr. Atlas has seen his fair share of these kinds of women. As a fellow woman myself, I can tell she isn't interested in Mr. Atlas. Even if she wanted to try anything with Mr. Atlas, he wouldn't keep her by his side. You have nothing to worry about.”
There was no telling what was said on the other end of the line as Willow simply nodded her head and added before hanging up. "Yes. I'll observe her for the next few days"
"Ha
Willow put her phone away and was about to leave when a sinister laugh came from the balcony behind
her.
She looked back and saw Zane standing in the darkness, offhandedly fiddling with an unlit cigarette. Willow turned white as a sheet "Mr. Atlas "
At the flick of his fingers, Zane snapped the cigarette in half. The woman told you to keep an eye on me. I can't believe you would do her bidding."
Willow knew the woman Zane was referring to. "Mr. Atlas, I believe the madam is only worried about you,
So...
Zane cut her off. "Worried about me? Do I need her to be worried? What does it have to do with my relationship with Lianne?"
Confronted with Zane's forceful attitude, Willow dared not spurt a lie. "You should know that the madam is fond of Ms. Graham. She always hoped you two would get together, so she was simply concerned that other women might tempt you."
"Ha... My wife should be her concern, not my assistant." Zane sparked the lighter, and his charming face appeared vile against the flickering flame.
Willow replied, "The madam doesn't think much of the woman since you got mamed for your grandmother's sake and left the woman be. Lianne is different. She's young, pretty, and works alongside you. For al we know, you might develop feelings for each other. Most importantly, you asked for a divorce not long after Lianne came to work for you. The madam has her reasons to be suspicious." Zane lit the cigarette and took a puff before answering faintly. "It doesn't matter why I married the woman. So long as the marriage stands, she is one of my own. Your boss should count herself lucky for not doing anything to the woman. Otherwise, she'll regret it."
He pulled a blank face, and his tone remained flat.
Still, Willow got the chills. "Mr. Atlas, !..
Zane said, "T've been gracious to transfer you to Weston instead of firing you."
Willow thought her value as an employee was the result of her transfer to Weston. It was only then she realized Zane had long learned about what she had done.
With fear creeping in, she broke out in a cold sweat
Thank goodness Willow only informed insignificant news to the madam, or she would be facing a worse consequence
"Lianne is one of my own," Zane said and put out the cigarette before entering a nearby room.
Willow was stumped. It was her mistake for failing to notice Zane's room was adjacent to Lianne's
Lianne had a great sleep after taking the medication. She slept until the alarm clock started blaring.
After a good night's rest, she was used to the highland climate and in a better state of mind.
Lianne freshened up and went to have breakfast in the hotel's restaurant. It was still early, as Zane was the only one in the huge restaurant.
