Chapter 9
Chapter 9
Third Person Pov:
“Tskkk……” An irritated snort escaped under her breath as she stared at her reflection in her dressing table luxurious mirror. She pulled out a cream lotion and pressed out tiny bits in each corner of her face before smearing it all over her face. Her hair was tied up in a towel as she continued to smear the cream, her eyes darted at the reflection of the man seated on the bed, typing frantically on his laptop. She thought he would notice the unrest she was feeling but he was too engrossed in his work, whatever that was keeping his mind and fingers occupied.
Maya narrowed her eyes from him back to her reflection. She hadn’t felt this insulted in her whole life especially when it involved insignificant Aurora. What made her so special? Why does it seem even in her pitiful state she always grabbed people’s attention? But one question kept her wondering? Who was that man that stepped in? What relationship did she have with him?
“She must think she has it all,” she huffed, pressing out another quantity from the cream to her hand. She glanced at Jaden but he was too busy to listen, infuriating her the more. “Do you ever pay attention to your wife or do you just busy yourself all the time!?”
This time, her rants caught Jaden’s attention and he looked up from his laptop, casting her a questioning look. His brows are drawn together. “Were you talking to me?”
“Who else?” Maya frowned, turning to look at him. “Your hands are always on your laptop, sometimes I feel I’m just married to myself.. She bit her lower l*p and let out a frustrated sigh. “Is our marriage based on your soon title of your clan or because we are mated? I mean we haven’t consummated our marriage?”
“Who works on the first night of their marriage?” She let out a disbelieving laugh, turning away from him and returning to staring at her reflection.
“Did I make you feel that way?” Jaden asked,
“Yes,” she snapped. There was a brief silence between them and Maya was getting a bit annoyed with it since he wasn’t making an effort to speak.” Do you even love me?” She expected him to answer right away but he didn’t. She let out another chuckle.
“I knew it,” she got up, standing on her feet. Facing him. “Is that why you didn’t say or do anything when your wife was being bullied and insulted right in your presence?”
“No one bullied or insulted you,” replied Jaden who had no idea why she was acting in this manner. He got a ‘ha!‘ from her as a response. A glint of surprise flickered in her eyes as she folded her arms against her chest.
“No one insulted me, you say?” She lifted a brow, her eyes and poise exuding annoyance. “That guy technically took the phone from me and handed it to her……
“You said you didn’t want to buy it,” Jaden’s response kept stunning her. “I know you weren’t going to buy it….also why are you getting upset? If anyone should get upset, it is the woman you tried to

humiliate.”
“The woman I humiliated?” Mouth ajar, she gaped at the man in front her who happened to have a glimpse of disappointment written across his rough yet appealing face. Her supposed husband who was intentionally taking another woman’s side in her presence. “Husbands take their wives’s side but I guess it doesn’t apply to you.
“I ain’t taking anyone’s side here,” countered Jaden in defiance. “I’m simply stating the truth. Why do you have to go to that extent? What kind of relationship do you have with your sister you had to display such behavior in public?”
Maya remained quiet and simply gaped at him like though every word that flew out his mouth sounded foreign to her ears. This was her husband but he was taking her side in front of her. She felt fury steaming within her. Her brows pulled down, her jaw clenched and her face reddened, her blood boiled but she tried to retain her composure. She could feel her skin emitting with anger, glowering at the man seated in front of her.
She had tried to wave off the incident that happened at her wedding after Otto pulled the stunt he pulled but he was reminding her of it. After taking vows with her, it didn’t take him minutes to get off the wedding stage. She saw him in the hallway with Aurora when she went to search for him and happened to catch on to their conversation.
“Are you alright, Aurora?” Her insides flared when she saw his rested hands on her shoulders. They were placed on her shoulders in a delicate and reassuring manner. “You weren’t hurt, were you?”
“I’m fine. You shouldn’t worry, I’m perfectly okay.” Maya could see beyond that sly smile of hers, always acting pitiful to grab people’s attention. Aurora is the most cunning and manipulative human she had seen on this planet. Always acting sorry to make herself the center of attention.
He scurried his eyes down to her ruined dress. An apologetic look masking on his face immediately. “I’m sorry for what Maya’s friends did to you. Are you sure you are okay?”
“I’m fine, it’s no biggie.” A smile graced Aurora’s l*ps intensifying the anger brewing in Maya. Jaden should be asking her how she felt after Lee Otto Fraser had humiliated her friends in front of everyone but there he was, asking that lowly insignificant being how she was doing. She knew that was bound to happen since Mr Peter Usoro invited her over.
Left for her, she wouldn’t get a chance of stepping out of the house and talk more of attending her wedding. Everything happened in a day, not only did Otto defended her but also wore around her wrist that expensive bracelet, declaring her his and now Jaden ran up to her like some leech.
Why was everyone sulking up to her? It was supposed to be her day but Aurora managed to turn the whole audience attention to her.
“Is there anything I can do to help?” Jaden asked.
“Nothing at all, I told you. I’m/fine….”
Getting bored and irritated, she interrupted them. “Jaden?” She called out and that was when they

query.
He gave her a nod and returned his attention to Aurora. “I will be with my parents and attending to
find me.” He patted her shoulder, and smiled
the people. If you have any issue, you know where to
at her sweetly and reassuringly upsetting Maya the more before he finally took his leave.
“And where are you going?” She drew her back when she attempted to leave. “You must feel like you are on top of the world, don’t you?”
“I have no idea what you mean?” Aurora wasn’t the type that talked back at people. She never talked back at her or her mom but she was doing it now.
“Why? You think you have everyone on your palm because Otto defended you in there?”
Aurora kept silent.
“Listen here,” Maya raised a finger. Warning. “Remember your place…..don’t go squeezing yourself into a place you don’t belong. Just because Otto defended you…or having Jaden ask you if you were okay doesn’t mean he has a feelings for you. He’s now my husband so stay clear from him.”
Maya balled a fist as Jaden continued to go on and on about Aurora, igniting the anger. Her nose. was flaring up she snapped out, startling him. “ENOUGH!” She technically yelled. “Can you stop mentioning her name?”
She unfurled her hand and strolled to him. And placed her butt on the bed. Taking his hand in hers. “I’m your wife now, I’m your mate so I’d appreciate it if you refrain from saying her name.” Though she said in a calm voice, she gritted the words out.
“Jaden, I am your wife……don’t tell me you still have feelings for her? That was 11 years ago. I’m soon to be your Luna not Aurora and isn’t it time we consummated our marriage?”
“Do you know how a woman feels when she’s left all alone on the first night of her marriage? The feeling is devastating.”
“I didn’t leave you alone that night. Something urgent came up at the company and I needed to be present. The company seemed to have dropped to 70% which meant it lost 10 million dollars because of how things are these days. Right now I’m trying to find a merger company.”
“Still I’m your wife,” Maya took the initiative and leaned closer to him, trailing a finger down his bare biceps. “Everything every wife desired is to consummate the first night of her marriage with her husband.”
She continued to trail her fingers on his sleeve seductively and moved in to trail a k*ss on his cheek down to his mouth. He didn’t k*ss her back but that didn’t stop her. She went further to nip on his earlobe, and heard him let out a soft desired groan signaling her to explore deeper.

Chapter 9
Just as things were getting deep and heated, he placed a hand on her, pulling her away.
“I’m busy right now,” he asserted, leaning away from her and picking up his laptop to resume what he was doing, Maya boiled at the way he pushed her away. Why wouldn’t he touch her when they’re obviously mated? Questions ran deep in her as she sat there, trying to control the anger swelling up
in her.
Don’t go creating troubles if you don’t want adversaries. He added. “And my parents wants us present at the family dinner tomorrow….”
“Wouldn’t you have touched her if she was the one?” She inquired in low voice. A low growl escaped her l*ps with her eyes directed to the floor.
“Who?” Jaden looked up from his laptop.
“Would you have hesitated if it was her? If it was Aurora?”
Assembled at the dinning area with all the Peterson family present. Maya’s mind and b*dy was absent, traveling back to her banter with Jaden yesterday. He never gave an answer to her response.
“Don’t you like the food Maya, mother made it specially for you.” Jade’s voice jarred her back to the present.
“I do,” she faked a smile. Just a bit occupied……
“Jaden, who’s she?” Jaden’s nephew asked who happened to be there with his mother. The wife of
the founder of MCI foundation.
“His wife, your aunt in–law,” his mother answered in his stead.
“What about the other woman? I thought you were going to make her your wife instead?”
“Josh!” Her mom scolded him both with her eyes and words.
Jaden let out a laugh but didn’t answer the question.
“What? He had secretly been in love with her..I’m just surprised he’s….
He trailed off, not completing his sentence. At this point, Maya was fed up, she dropped her cutleries in a bit of anger but didn’t make it obvious.
Once again, Aurora is being uttered.
Aurora, Aurora!!
