Chapter 21
Chapter 21
Clinton Fridolf Pov:
“Sir, we got a call from Mr Arnold, the construction of his house will soon be finished and would like us to be the ones to wire in everything in his house, his home decor and appliances.” One of the staff standing beside a huge TV presented. The staff surrounded in a circus, around the wide huge mahogany table listened as the male presenter went on with what he was saying.
“So how many days or months before the finishing of his building?” I asked, watching the pictures of the house from different angles displayed on the screen.
“Umm, we don’t really know that,” the male presenter replied, narrowing his eyes to me. “But I believe it would be through in no less than 3 weeks which is why he reached out to us on time to give him the best.”
“Here are the interiors of his house.” With a remote control, he showed the different rooms, unpainted but the architectural design of the rooms, from the sitting room and the remaining spaces in the house were a good one. Wonder who laid the foundation of his building and designed the style. It was simple yet appealing, a fancy, homely kind of style. “So he wants homely appliances that are trendy and can add to the ambiance of his house.”
“First, we’ll start off by knowing the decor that would rhyme with the appliances we will offer,” I inserted.
“We will have to ask Mr Arnold what kind of decor he would like. Once we know that, we will work with the appliances that would go with the decor,” another staff member, a woman with blonde Bob hair, dressed neatly in a suit and probably in her mid thirties suggested. Channeling her gaze to me, expecting my approval.
“The beauty of a house doesn’t lie in the fact that it is finished but the beauty lies in the furnishing.” out what he wants his

home to look like……Also he’s an estimated customer so we don’t want this to flop. We have done good jobs and business with him in the past so this will just be an icing on the cake.”
“Of course,” the male présenter smiled, his tone filled with determination and enthusiasm. “We will do our best. We won’t want to lose a Vip customer like him. They are rare to find.”
Alright then, it is settled. I rose to my feet.
“I will look up for other decor companies since our previous partnering company pulled out of the contract,” came a male voice from the staff members seated around me.
I nodded. “Yeah, do, a trustworthy and transparent company. One who wouldn’t mess up like the previous one.”
“Yes, Sir.” He gave me a confident smile. “I promise, we won’t make such a mistake again.”
“Also, what about the models for the advertisement? How is that going?”

“Yeah the PR team is taking care of that.” The first guy answered.
“Alright.” I directed my gaze to another guy with long hair tied in a bun. Who is the head of the financial department. “I would like to see the sales of the last two months and the beginning of this month.”
“Noted, Sir……” He trailed off and everywhere went silent when a figure walked in. An old brawny looking man with a mix of black and gray hair, a texture of hair I couldn’t quite understand till now. He was clothed in an

on his face were an evident sign of old age, one could tell he was a heartthrob in his teens and adulthood and he still retained his beauty despite the wrinkles.
And he happened to be my……
“It’s the Chairman…..” One of the staff members mumbled beneath his breath as they all rose to their feet in respect. “Wonder why he’s here, he hardly shows up.”
“Why? Can’t I visit my company again? Is it a crime for one to visit his company and see how it is faring?” Mr Lee Gonzalo, my father in law, pulled out his rimmed spectacles from his tiny aged eyes and cast his gaze on where the murmurs came from.
Silence fell through and the only sound was the sounds of breaths and heartbeats. My father’s in law’s gift, the ability to hear even the faintest of breath in a very quiet place. He exhaled, wearing back his spectacles. He rounded his eyes around the whole place.
“Guess, I missed a great get–together,” he said and it was supposed to humor them but no one dared to laugh. In the Ashenfeng clan, he was the oldest, the wisest and whose silence spoke louder than his words. A man whose eyes did the most talking than his mouth and he was a man of few words.
People looked up to him so much, and saw him as an icon, both the humans, werewolves and lycans. In one sentence, he was technically the man of the people. The Ashenfeng clan are known directly for their agility and bravery. Their ability to use their IQ to work out things for them and this man seemed to be the leader of the clan. When humans were in a bloodbath to wipe out the lycans and werewolves they considered threats and monsters, he was among the elderly people who issued a ceasefire during the war.
“Sir, you are here…… Can I ask why the sudden visitation?” I queried and just as the staff mumbled, he rarely visited the company unless a great deal came out where he’s mandatory to show this was quite surprising and alarming at the same time.
but
“You sound worried,” he responded.
One thing about him was he wouldn’t let you have the last word.
“I’m sorry if my question came off as rude—I was only surprised.”
“Well, I had something important to discuss with you and I couldn’t wait.”
up
“Oh okay.” I looked at the staff, and with a head and eyes signal, I dismissed them. They took the

signal well and left the conference room. Leaving me to my father in–law. I left the executive seat at the head of the table for him and pulled out one of the chairs surrounding the table and sat down. He did the same.
“So what might this be about?” Worriedly, I asked, staring at the unreadable look on the old man’s face. “What must be so important to you?”
eyes
“I heard the proposition of Mr Arnold,” he began, his directed on anything in the conference room but me.
“Okay?”
“I would like Otto to cover it…..”
“Why?”
“Because he’s more experienced in home decors, he’s more reliable when it comes to that field so I’d like Otto to take over it plus Mr Arnold isn’t just any customer of ours, he has earned his way in this company and 50% of the company shares belongs to him so this time around, I’d like you to work with Otto.”
I definitely knew what he was trying to do but I chose to compose myself and utter in a tone that didn’t come off as rude. “Why Otto? There are other decor companies we can work with, companies that are more reliable than Otto’s.”
He made a displeasing sound under his breath, cutting me off. I could tell from the sound he made. that he didn’t find my suggestion quite considering. He flew his gaze to me, his brows drawn. together into a frown.
“Are there any
other decor companies that beats that of your son?” He queried, getting me to wonder if that was supposed to be answered or not. “What kind of father doesn’t want to work with his own son?”
“He doesn’t share my last name,” I whimpered, feeling upset at the old man’s bluntness. “He shares yours not mine……..”
“And isn’t it your job as his father to put an end to this madness? For how long will you two play this Tom and Jerry sort of relationship?
A brief silence fell between us as we held each other’s gazes. I definitely knew what the old man was after. He wasn’t doing this because he wanted me to bound me with my unruly pompous and condensing stepson who finds himself self–sufficient. He was worried about something. He was worried I might overthrow his dear grandson and took over the empire he went through brim and stones to build.
“You don’t trust me, do you?” I finally voiced out the one thing that worried me from the start. “You still find me traitorous.”
He exhaled. “I didn’t mention that, I simply said you should work on your relationship with your

son. Don’t create that wall because when the wet wall dries off and becomes solid, it would be very difficult to break it down.”
voice.
“Shouldn’t you be telling that to your grandson?” I said with a little bit of frustration in my “Also why would I work with someone who left the family business and opened his own business, just so because he didn’t want to attach himself to me.”
“Clinton!” The old man raised his voice. A faint angry look flickered in his eyes. “What do you care most about? Your pride or your family? You are an elder and it should be your duty to correct him if he strays off on the wrong path. It is your duty to put him in order.”
“Since when did Otto Fraser listen to me? He only listens to you, maybe you should do it in my stead because I ain’t going to waste my time on him again. He’s your grandson anyway.” Angrily, though I didn’t make it obvious, I stood up.
I proceeded to leave the conference hall but turned to face the back of the old man seated on the executive seat. “Don’t worry, put your mind to rest, I wouldn’t do anything funny or taint the image of the company you tried hard to build.”
“If I had wanted, you wouldn’t know what will hit you and you might not be able to avoid or survive it so remove that suspicion in you. Also I made up my mind, I ain’t contacting Otto over Mr Arnold’s issue, I will do it my own way.”
I let go of the breath I was clutching onto while I was in there with the old man. He always has his way of making me feel uncomfortable and even question my stability. He wants me to work with someone who turned his back on his family? Who never gave me respect or saw me as an elder in. his life.
“Get one thing straight, you will never be a father figure to me,” he had told me one time. His cold voice came. Matching the look in his eyes. “So whatever you do is just a waste of your own precious. time…..
“I saw grandfather, walking down the hallway, toward the exit…..” My heart made a quick jump at the sudden voice and interruption. I looked up and saw Adrian standing there before me.
“Holy cow! Don’t take your father by surprise, you almost gave me a heart attack.”
“Wow, I’m so sorry.” He threw his hands in the air. “I was just surprised to see him here and he looked troubled and also……you…..” He leaned closely, prolly examining my face.
“Don’t tell me, you got into another fight with grandfather?” Adrain prompted, leaning out and tucking his hands in his pants pockets. “Come on, spill the beans. What is it about this time?”
I didn’t answer. Probably because I was not in the mood for his questions.
“What about Mr Shawn Armstrong? Did you manage to pull it off?” I asked, changing topic.
