Chapter 79
Married to the Boss: A Love in Disguise Chapter 79
Lumma smiled. “Maybe we’re not actually meant to be.”
Maria couldn’t be transferred to another hospital until she was more stable, and Lumma had to watch over her all the time.
The four-day leave given by Adam soon passed, so Lumma had to take the ten-day
annual leave.
With Lumma absent, Leonard had to replace her at work.
Leonard took the coffee to Adam’s office. Adam was looking down at the documents as usual. “Mr. Hills, in the morning...”
Adam suddenly raised his head and glanced behind Leonard. “Where’s Lumma?”
Adam’s face was expressionless, but Leonard still felt a chill. “She is on her annual
leave.”
Adam said, “We have important work to do at the end of the year. How can she take a
leave at this time?”
Leonard was confused.
If he remembered correctly, Adam didn’t have any important schedule these days, and the important work had been done late
last month and early this month.
Adam ordered, “The coffee is cold. Go get another one.”
Leonard replied, “Yes.”
He felt that Adam was not normal today.
However, to Leonard’s surprise, Adam remained like this for the next few days.
Every day, Leonard was afraid and hoped that Lumma would come back to work soon so that there would be one more person
to share Adam’s anger with him.
After a week of suffering, Leonard accompanied Adam to Hanton City to attend Mr. and Mrs. Marple’s wedding anniversary
celebration.
Everyone in their circle knew that George had been plotted against and had to marry Keeley. There was no real affection
between them, but they had to celebrate their wedding anniversary anyway.
George talked with the guests with his arm around Keeley’s waist. The two smiled at each other from time to time. They looked
very close, but no one knew what they were
thinking.
This was the fate of the sons and daughters of wealthy families. Most of the time, they
couldn’t make decisions on their own.
“Adam, we were waiting for you.” George came with Keeley and saw Leonard behind Adam. “You brought Mr. Davies with you
today instead of your beautiful assistant. Are
you afraid that others will take a fancy to her?”
Adam didn’t want others to make fun of Lumma. “Take care of your wife, and stay out
of other people’s affairs.”
“Hello, Mr. Marple, Mrs. Marple!” Leonard greeted them politely, but he had a small
question in his heart.
He had been with Adam for many years, and he had met Adam’s old friends. He didn’t
remember that they had met Lumma. How could they mention Lumma?
Lumma was celebrating her birthday at the hospital. December 14 was her
twenty-fourth birthday.
These days, Lumma had to take care of Maria and contact the hospital in Red Pine City. She was so busy that she had long
forgotten about her birthday.
Maria secretly asked Dr. Hunter to order a birthday cake and flowers for her.
Maria smiled and stroked Lumma’s head. “Lumma, it’s your birthday. Make a wish
