Chapter 3520 The Chaotic Underbelly
No food? What did the people trapped in the lower levels eat?
No one asked the question aloud, but they all knew the answer. In a place overrun by chaos and lawlessness, survival meant turning on anything that was alive.
When they reached the second level, the air was filled with the aroma of food. Garrett glanced at Matthew and asked, "Want to grab something to eat?"
Garrett had placed a massive bet of ten million Dornia Emeralds on Matthew's success. For him, winning wasn't just preferable-it was essential.
"No need. Let's keep moving," Matthew said, his tone calm as he glanced at Garrett.
"Don't be so hasty, Matteo. You're not ready to challenge Mendoza yet," Garrett said with a smirk. Matthew frowned slightly. Garrett had summoned him here to fight Shaun, yet now claimed it wasn't possible.
"Mendoza holds a high status in the Carnage Cruise's arena. If you want to challenge him, you need to win at least three consecutive fights first. Tonight, we'll rest. Tomorrow, we'll talk about the death matches."
"Fine," Matthew replied, nodding without further comment as they headed toward the third level. Garrett paid 3,000 Dornia Emeralds for three rooms, and everyone retired to their quarters.
Life aboard the Carnage Cruise came with a hefty price tag. A room that might cost 50 Dornia Emeralds outside was marked up dozens of times here.
Matthew had barely been in his room for a while when faint voices reached his ears.
"You're sure this is the room?"
"Trust me, boss. That guy in white is definitely in here. I watched him closely-no muscles, soft as a rich boy who came aboard for the novelty, if we rob him, we'll have enough to pay the fee and leave this place!"
The voices, though hushed, were crystal clear to Matthew.
Moments later, he heard the faint sound of someone tampering with the lock. A soft click followed, and the door creaked open slightly as two figures slipped inside.
The intruders, filled with anticipation, were ready to make a big score and leave the ship. But as they stepped further in, their excitement froze.
Matthew stood silently in the center of the room, his calm gaze falling upon them. The weight of his eyes made their bodies stiffen, a sense of unparalleled danger washing over them.
"You two think I'm an easy target?" Matthew asked, his voice quiet but laced with an undeniable edge. "N-No, sir, we wouldn't dare," one of the men stammered, trembling.
If they hadn't realized the situation by now, they would've been utter fools. This wasn't some helpless rich scion-this was someone far more dangerous, someone whose strength he couldn't even begin to gauge. "Wouldn't dare? Then explain why you used a wire to pick the lock on my door," Matthew said, pointing to the wire trembling in the other man's hands.
The man flinched, the wire slipping
from his grasp and clattering to the floor. He didn't dare pick it up. "S-Sir, we were wrong. It was a moment of madness. Please spare us this once. I swear we'll never do it again!"
swn?
Matthew's expression grew colder as he studied the man's hollow promises. "Here's the deal: I'll ask you some questions. If you answer truthfully, I might let you go. But if you fail..." He let his voice trail off, the threat unmistakable.
The two intruders immediately shouted in unison, "Ask away, sir! Anything you want to know! We'll tell you everything!"
