Chapter 6
Today was my day off, courtesy of my new boss and date and because I was still recovering from my sickness.
I put up a good fight against him and told him not to make preferences because we were going on a date. But he just shut me up quickly when he told me that he would give the whole month as a holiday to me if I didn’t take this one day off, so I had to agree reluctantly.
So, after 10 hours of rest and 5 hours of bickering back and forth with Amelia and Max on what to wear, how to do my hair and what type of makeup should I have on, I was ready.
But Max was in his overprotective-father-cum-brother mode and refrained me from wearing too revealing clothes.
If it were up to him then I would be wrapped in blankets with a monkey-cap on my head.
But I was glad that Amelia was here to hold him off and he kept his opinions to himself.
Wearing a tight-fit cotton dark grey short dress with a light brown leather jacket, paired with light brown platform heels, a gold bracelet, a dark grey hand bag and a necklace with rings on it. My hair was set in curls and I had light makeup on, contrasting with the colors I was wearing.
All in all I looked good.
Brandon was going to come pick me up at 8:00 and it was 7:55 and I was being very patient with the time…. would be an understatement.
I was freaking out and biting my nails and over-thinking his arrival.
I was throwing a tantrum at them when we heard the honking of a car and I rushed outside to look at the owner of the car, not even caring that I would make a fool of myself in front of him.
But much to my dismay it was for my neighbours. I frowned and stepped inside only to be honked again and this time it was him, in his sleek royal blue convertible.
He was wearing a white shirt over which he wore a dark grey buttoned-crocheted jacket and a light brown over jacket. He wore light blue jeans and light brown formal shoes.
We were matching!!
And we didn’t even plan it. He grinned at me too, realizing this.
We both walked towards each other as if someone was pulling the invisible rope between us and compelling us to be closer to each other.
We stood a foot’s length away from each other.
“We are matching.” we both said at the same time and chuckled, all the while looking in each others eyes. A throat cleared behind me and we both turned towards the source.
“So, I presume you would be on your best behaviour with her?” Max said from behind me and raised an eyebrow in question.
“Y-Yes Sir.” Brandon stuttered and I had to stifle my laugh at his scared reaction.
“Stop it, Maxy. I trust him.” I said and moved towards Brandon. Max didn’t say anything else and let me go.
Brandon opened the car door for me and I shook my head and crossed my arms. He gave me a confused expression and I made my way towards the driver’s side.
This time he shook his head and gave me a amused expression, as if expecting this behaviour from me.
He said something under his breath and I was confused at it but shrugged it off.
“Same as always, Sylvia. Too much pride.”
He entered his car too and gave me the directions to our destination.
We entered a forest after a half an hour drive.
The GPS indicated that we were a few meters away from our destination. I was about to take a left but Brandon stopped me.
“What happened?” I asked and stopped the car on the side of the road.
“It is actually a surprise so please wear this and let me drive?” he pleaded and took out a blind fold but I obliged reluctantly.
We took off and I was surrounded in darkness due to the blind fold. We stopped again after some time and he helped me get off.
The smell of water and the flowers were very powerful. A certain feeling of comfort washed over me, as if i have been here. He grabbed my waist and walked me with him.
I could feel the crunching of the leaves beneath my feet and that was when the over-thinking side of me got activated. What if he wants to kill me? What if he wants to rape me? Oh god, no one would be here to help me. What if he is a part of a gang or worse he is a trafficker? But I didn’t pull away from him. My heart didn’t let me. It kept on believing him and trusting him.
We stopped all of a sudden and he pulled the blind fold off my eyes. I blinked a few times to adjust to the surroundings and when I did, my eyes were wide as saucers.
There were fairy lights strung to the trees in a huge clearing. There was lake too and it looked amazing under the lights from the trees and the moon.
Everything was so magical. It felt as if I was in a fairytale and my prince took me to this magical forest and we will dance and spend our lives together for eternity.
Just then another vision stuck me, this time it’s force shook me very hard and I fell to the ground with a thud.
I was in the clearing again and Brandon was here too, with me, well I guess she is Sylvia because I don’t remember this.
They were wearing the same dresses like real time me and him. The lake glowed like it was supposed to under the influence of the lights and the moon.
They both were looking lovingly at each other. He unfolded a blanket from the basket and they both sat down on it.
He took out a cold sandwich with my favourite filling, creamy coleslaw and a bottle of strawberry soda. They were laughing and holding hands.
Everything was going lovingly when a man jumped out from the shadow and Brandon came forward to protect her but Sylvia only pushed him back and stood in front of him.
I guess we all knew that he didn’t have any chance against him.
The man took out a gun from behind him and rushed towards them. I stood in front of them, to save them, but the bullet passed through me and hit Sylvia.
Then I realized that it was a tranquilizing dart and she fell but Brandon caught her and laid her down. He was sobbing and the man shot him too and they both got unconscious.
The vision ended and I found that Brandon was sobbing at me and I was lying in his lap and he kept on repeating the same words.
“Not again. Sylvia, you can’t leave me again.”
“Don’t worry, Brandon. I ain’t going anywhere.” I cupped his cheeks and wiped his tears.
I sat up and he held me close to him. He was hugging the living day-lights of me.
“C-Can’t b-breathe, Brand-don.” I wheezed. And he pulled away quickly and gave me a sheepish look.
Then I asked the one question, which has been disturbing me for so long.
“Brandon tell me the truth. Who are you and who is Sylvia?”
