Mafia Kings: Valentino: Dark Mafia Romance Series #6

Mafia Kings: Valentino: Chapter 126

The rest of the day was wonderful.

The other couples regaled us with stories from the last two weeks.

Lucia showed off a little plastic ring and told us the absolutely adorable story about how Massimo had proposed in a grocery store.

Lars and Rachel talked about how they’d nearly killed each other before making up.

And Roberto…

Well, Roberto had one of the most surprising stories of all.

“You threatened to blow up the head of the Tokyo yakuza?” Adriano asked in astonishment.

“He called me a half-breed,” Roberto said with a mild shrug. “So I told him, ‘You’re dealing with the Sicilian half now.’”

The entire table erupted into laughter.

“Didn’t know you had it in you, bro,” Adriano said approvingly.

“Neither did he,” Roberto replied.

Best of all, Niccolo laughed along with everyone else.

In fact, after our heart-to-heart, he seemed to actually enjoy himself.

Most importantly, it seemed that he and Valentino had agreed to an unspoken truce.

Niccolo didn’t make any more snide remarks…

And Valentino refrained from provoking him.

Everything was happy and joyful.

Later, talk turned to the future.

“Everybody’s married but you, Nic,” Roberto said at one point. “When’s your wedding going to be?”

Niccolo glanced at Dario…

Then gave us all an enigmatic smile. “I’m working on it.”

We laughed, and ate, and drank late into the evening.

At some point, I got a chance to be alone with Alessandra.

“Thank you, thank you, thank you,” I said as I hugged her.

“You’re more than welcome,” she said as she held me close. “But all I did was help. You did the hard part.”

“But I couldn’t have done it without you – not in a million years.”

“Well, you helped me when I needed someone. I’m just so glad that I could help you when you needed it.” She beamed. “And we’re sisters now!”

“I know!”

“I always wanted a sister,” she said, misty-eyed. “Bianca’s wonderful – and the others seem great… but I’m so happy that you’re my sister and my best friend.”

We hugged each other and cried and laughed… and everything was wonderful.

Finally, as Dario, Niccolo, and Lars discussed plans for how to get everyone back home to Tuscany, Valentino tugged at my arm and led me away from the table.

“What?” I asked.

“How about we go start the honeymoon early?” he asked with a devilish smile.

“…what?!”

“I was thinking maybe we could go find a pantry somewhere. Have our first time as a married couple be like our very first time.”

I looked at him in shock –

And then a grin crept over my face.

“You’re on,” I whispered.

He laughed, took me in his arms, and kissed me –

And that was when I realized:

Maybe fairytale endings DO happen to girls like me.
