Chapter 5: The Portal (Part 2)
[Luna Syesha]
Suddenly, a loud voice echoed. “What a scene! Bwahahahaha!” we turned to our back and saw a witch carrying an unconscious person. It’s Victoria.
“Mother!” Fier shouted, and he was about to approach the witch.
“Stay where you are, Prince Fier. Or else I will kill your beloved mother! Hahaha!” the witch said.
“Agnes, what did you do to Victoria!” Asgar said furiously.
“Don’t worry, Asgar, because she is not dead yet. Because I will kill her in front of you! Bwahahaha!” the witch replied.
“You’re a traitor, Agnes! I trusted you!” Asgar shouted in anger.
“Hahahaha! You’re a hypocrite, Asgar. If you hadn’t married Victoria and married me instead, this wouldn’t have happened!”
“I will never ever like you, Agnes! You know that!”
“Asgar is right, witchy witch. He won’t like you because you’re ugly. How are you related to Alena, the witch?” I interrupted while grinning. She glared daggers at me.
“You! You killed my sister! I will make you pay!” she immediately cast a spell—a bolt of lightning and threw it towards me, but I quickly avoided it and released a bolt of lightning as well.
We just exchanged attacks with each other, and it made her more furious while attacking me nonstop. I was just smiling while dodging her attack, which made her even angrier. Sometimes, she’s able to hit me with her lightning daggers, but it quickly heals because of my healing ability. I purposely had my stomach pierced with her lightning ball and, as I imagined, it slowly regenerated as if nothing had happened. It amazed me, and it made me conclude I was an immortal.
“You are a monster!” the witch said, and I knew she was afraid.
“If you don’t want to end like your sister, leave and don’t bother us anymore. If you tried to mess with the Mages again, I will not hesitate to send you into the underworld.” I said with a serious expression and fear crept on her face. The underworld is the place where the sinners get imprisoned and punished.
Agnes’ face became pale, and with low energy left, she got on her broomstick and flew away, never looking back.
I turned my attention to all the people, especially King Asgar and his family. Asgar hugged his wife Victoria, who was still unconscious in his lap.
“I love you, Victoria. Wake up, my love. Mirai is already here. Don’t you want to see her again?” he said while crying.
“Mother… Please wake up, mother...” Aira said as she cried and hugged her older brother while also looking at Victoria in tears. Mirai stood there stunned while looking at them, and tears welled up in her eyes. King Collins and her daughter were also crying while looking at Victoria.
I approached Mirai, “Mirai,” I called her attention, and she turned to look at me. It surprised me when she hugged me tightly.
“Luna… Why is this happening? They are my real family, but why can’t I even approach them? Especially my father?” she said while sobbing.
“Shh, everything will be alright, I promise.” She looked at me sadly and I smiled at her.
“But how?” she said, still crying.
“Don’t worry, I will do everything in my power to make this place normal again. Maybe helping you and this world is the reason I’m stuck in this world.” I said and looked up at the dark sky.
“Maybe, Luna, and we are very grateful to you. If it weren’t for you, we wouldn’t be able to defeat those witches. Thank you very much, Luna.” she said and hugged me tightly again.
I smiled. I will never forget Mirai once I get back to my world. We let go of the hug and I walked to where Asgar was, who was still holding the unconscious Victoria. Asgar looked at me.
“Luna, thank you so much for your help,” he said with a sad smile. I smiled and touched the forehead of the unconscious Victoria while my eyes and hands glowed brightly. A few minutes later, I took away my hand and smiled at them.
“She’s fine now,” I said. Victoria moved, and her eyes slowly fluttered open.
“Mother!” Fier and Aira mumbled happily.
“Victoria! I love you! Thank God you’re awake!” Asgar hugged Victoria and kissed her forehead. Everyone was in tears and smiling at the scene. And I didn’t realize that many people were watching us.
I approached Mirai because she was staring at her family as tears streamed down her cheeks. I know she’s happy.
“Mirai... my daughter...” Victoria called while tears welled up in her eyes. Mirai looked at me. I nodded and smiled. Victoria approached Mirai and hugged her tightly.
“Forgive me, Mirai. Forgive me if I sent you away from us. I love you so much, my daughter, and I miss you so much.” Victoria cried with regret.
I smiled as I looked at them with envy. I am glad to see their family complete again. But I felt a pang of pain in my chest because I remembered my parents and my twin sister. Yes, I wish they would see me, but I didn’t expect that this would be the condition for not seeing my family. I hope I can hug Mama and Papa too. I miss them so much.
Sadness overwhelmed my heart. I didn’t even realize the tears rolling down my face, so I teleported myself to the top of the mountain where the portal tree was. I sat on the rock and looked up at the moon. And I just stayed there for a few minutes while falling into deep thought.
Suddenly, something lit up behind me. I turned around and looked at the tree. My eyes widened in surprise when I saw the portal already opened. I rubbed my eyes multiple times as I thought maybe I was just hallucinating, but the light was still flickering.
Finally! The portal has opened! I feel so lucky right now. I was about to enter, but then I remembered Mirai. Maybe the portal will not disappear yet. I need to say goodbye to Mirai, Grandma Mela, Berting, and everyone.
Without a second thought, I teleported back to the palace and found them talking. I smiled when I also saw Grandma Mela and Berting with everyone while watching the royal family.
Mirai rushed toward me and hugged me. “Luna! Where did you go?!” she asked worriedly.
“I have something to say, Mirai.” I said and smiled sadly, then turned to everyone and I cleared my throat, “I just wanted to let you know I am leaving. Thank you very much for accepting me. I have been in this world for a long time and it is time for me to return to the place where I belong because the portal to our world finally opened. Thank you very much and I will never forget you all.” I said, smiling at them, and everyone was making noise while praising me with their kind words. They are very thankful for my help. I just returned them with a smile.
I hugged Mirai because she was already crying. “We will see each other again, right?” Mirai said.
“I don’t know, Mirai, but don’t worry because I will find a way for us to meet again.” I touched her cheek and wiped off the tears that flowed down her face. She nodded, even if it was against her will.
“But before I leave, I have one more thing to do,” I said and turned toward Asgar, who was looking at us and he smiled when he saw me looking at him.
“King Asgar, will you come forward?” he nodded and walked towards me, then stopped three meters away from us.
“What are you going to do, Luna?” Asgar asked, but I never responded.
“Luna...” Mirai said nervously while looking at Asgar. Everyone felt an earthquake that scared them.
“Just ignore the earthquake because it is part of what I wanted to do. Armani!” I said and called Armani. I heard a flutter of wings heading in our direction, and Armani landed in front of me and Asgar.
“Armani, please step between Mirai and King Asgar,” I commanded, and Armani followed my instructions. It confused everyone, but they watched what I’m about to do.
I cast a spell, and a magic circle appeared around Mirai and Asgar. “Close your eyes,” I said, and they obeyed. As I closed my eyes, I felt the powerful curse upon them. Then, I cast a spell I knew to get rid of a curse that enveloped Asgar and Mirai. But in exchange, it will make me feel weak because it will take out an ample amount of my power. And I will have to wait a few more weeks to regain my lost power. Despite the consequences, I still wanted to help them because I didn’t want to leave this place unsolved. After all, it bothered me.
I talked to Armani about my plan. ‘Now, Armani.’ I signal and he did what I told him to do. Armani suddenly shone, causing my magic circle to glow brightly. I can already feel the power flowing through my veins into my hands, and I use my light magic to complete the ritual.
I sighed in relief and smiled because I thought I couldn’t do the ritual properly. Because it was the first time I had used this power. As I fluttered my eyes open, I smiled as I saw the amazement on everyone’s faces. Helping them even for a little while made me truly happy and satisfied. I will never forget this experience in my life.
