LUNA: The Invisible Princess

Chapter 41: The Sun And The Moon Part 2

On the other side, all people in the universe, whether in the mortal world or other dimensions of the magic world, witness the changes on the moon. They couldn’t believe it and felt like they were dreaming. Amazement was plastered on everyone’s faces, and they were still in a daze. For them, it’s truly a miracle that has blown their minds away and only happens once in a lifetime.

At the same time, the people in the mortal world create different rumors about what happened and try to decipher the meaning of the sudden changes. And all the scientists can’t determine what caused the moon to grow bigger and most of all, the reason why it rotates side by side with the biggest planet in the entire universe—the Sun.

Everyone couldn’t hide their amazement every time the sun and the moon illuminate beautifully and magnetically like twins or lovers. It was very magical!

And everyone on Olympus also witnessed what Luna did. All the time it happened, they were smiling in amazement and admiration because Luna was the only one capable of changing everything in the universe. She really lives up to her title as the Goddess of Creation and Universe.

Meanwhile, in the galaxy, Luna and Leena couldn’t stop smiling from ear to ear because now they could finally put a beautiful and happy ending to their favorite bedtime story of all time. They both hold hands subconsciously while looking at the sun and the moon with soft smiles on their lips. Without warning, Leena kissed Luna on the cheek out of joy, and Luna just giggled in amusement.

“Hmm, now how do you give the story a happy ending?” Luna let out as she wiggled her eyebrows with a playful smile.

Leena smirked, and an idea quickly popped up in her mind. Her eyes sparkled and began telling the ending of the story.

“Ah! I know! The ending will be like this…”

She cleared her throat and started narrating the ending of the story.

“The Sun and the Moon are still longing at each other. Taking glances is not enough when it’s time they met. Every time they caught a glimpse of each other, they made a wish. Moon says, ‘Oh, God, I’m willing to make sacrifices just to be with the Sun. But Sun also says, Oh, God, all of my life I’ve been lonely. Moon is my happiness. Can we be?”

Luna’s lips curled up into a beautiful smile and was instantly interested and lost in Leena’s story.

“Then one day, the Goddess of Creation and Universe heard their heartfelt wishes and granted what their hearts’ desire. However, the Moon will make sacrifices. The Moon knew that the Sun is the hottest thing in the entire universe; it could make him die if he could get closer to the Sun. But he believes in the power of their love. Hence, he agreed. Slowly, he got closer to the Sun which was so big and hot. The Sun couldn’t believe what happened, but she was happy to see the Moon face to face.”

“But the Moon didn’t contain the hot temperature and died. The Sun’s world stopped revolving and cried continuously like she also died. Unbeknownst to the Sun, her tears are the key to bringing the Moon back to life. True to life, the Moon gets bigger and bigger until it reaches the size of the Sun. Now, they can reach each other and hold hands whenever they want. They smiled and said their never-ending love.”

“It’s ‘love’ and ‘sacrifice’ that bring them closer to each other forever and bring happiness together to the universe... The end!” Leena dreamily said.

Luna chuckled and looked at her twin proudly. “That’s the ending I like! It’s beautiful, Leena. For a second there, I thought you were the scriptwriter.”

“You bet I am!” Leena said with a wink. They both giggled and side-hugged each other while looking at the Sun and the Moon with a satisfied smile. Like the sun and the moon, the twins are inseparable and glued to each other forever. In real life, they look like the version of the Sun and the Moon.

“We’re going somewhere else!” Luna said when she remembered something.

“Where?” Leena said excitedly. Her curiosity piqued again. She has no idea where Luna will take her again. She was full of surprises and she couldn’t guess every time.

“Olympus!” Luna said, not keeping it a secret this time. Hearing this, Leena’s eyes widened and were stunned for a moment.

“Really?! Is it where the Gods and Goddesses live?”

Luna nodded with a smile and snapped her fingers.

In an instant, they were on Olympus. Luna brought Leena in front of the Gods and Goddesses who were currently standing together while looking at the sun and the moon.

Everyone welcomed the twins warmly. Obviously, they adored the twins so much as they talked to the twins and sometimes made fun of them. It’s just that the twins’ presence makes them happy for some reason.

Leena felt shy at first seeing the majestic presence of the gods but soon became comfortable as time went by. Her Grandma Luna/ Goddess Artemis also helps her to adjust to the new surroundings. They talked and laughed together like a big family.

However, their fun was cut short when an unexpected guest suddenly appeared. A powerful shadow slowly formed into a burly figure with a scary demeanor. His majestic presence could shake and split the world if he wanted to.

None other than the God of Darkness and the ruler of the Underworld—Hades.

“Hades...” everyone muttered with an alert expression.

Hades smirked. “Surprise?” He cocked and turned his gaze on the twins, especially at Leena.

At the same time, Hades’ indifferent gaze intimidated Leena. She felt like her soul was shaking.

Luna could sense her twin’s uneasiness and she saw how Hades looked at her twin and subconsciously held Leena’s hands. Leena suddenly sighed in relief and her expression eased a little.

“What are you doing here, Hades?” God Zeus asked warily. It is known to everyone about their long unsettled dispute.

“Relax, brother. I didn’t come here to cause some trouble. I’m here to greet the invincible twins.” Hades said with a menacing grin plastered on his lips. His looks seemed like he was planning something disgraceful.

“Hades,” Poseidon uttered, his tone threatening. Hades looked at him with a piercing glare and then let out a sinister laugh.

“Poseidon, Poseidon, Poseidon... how is your son on earth?” Hades said with a hint of sarcasm in his voice.

“Don’t you dare touch my son, Hades!” Poseidon was aggrieved at the mention of his son. He doesn’t know how Hades learns about his son. He sensed Zeus’ stare and he let out a sigh.

“Well, so far I haven’t done anything. Do you think that your son is also strong? I might want to test his skills one of these days.” Hades continued with a sinister smile, his eyes flashed cunningly.

Poseidon clenched his fists tightly, turning his knuckles white, and gritted his teeth. He was livid at Hades’ provocation. A suffocating, terrifying breath of aura emit from his body toward Hades but the latter also released a powerful aura toward Poseidon as a counterattack.

The other gods quickly stop the two to prevent them from ruining everything. Both were extremely powerful and it would be difficult to stop them once the fight started.

The quarrel between the Gods continued, and it caused the others a headache. At the same time, the twins just stared blankly at the scene. At this time, Leena felt so small, like a speck of dust.

Seeing that the matter became more unsettling, Luna couldn’t stop herself from intervening.

“Enough Hades! Don’t think you’re too powerful now. For I know your hidden secret.” Luna blurted out in a serious tone, which startled Hades to the core. He squinted his eyes, and a fire ignited his bones.

In an instant, Hades grasps Luna’s neck tightly with his big hands. Luna remained calm, but she was secretly anxious in her heart. You know her divine power hasn’t been fully restored yet.

“Luna!” Leena gasped in horror and tried to stop Hades, but the other goddesses stopped her and shook their heads no.

“Don’t you dare say it! Or I’m going to kill you!” Hades said angrily. But Luna wasn’t even shocked or intimidated by his sudden outburst.

“Go on,” Luna said while smirking. He let her go, feeling insulted. He really wanted to choke her to death!

Hades was seething in rage at Luna’s confidence and calm demeanor. It was like she was taunting him.

“You’re courting death! I’m not Hades if I don’t kill you today!” he gritted his teeth and his eyes darkened. His body released a threatening, powerful aura that could kill people on the spot. However, the goddess in front of him was different, which surprised him.

Luna chuckled sarcastically and continued provoking him. “I’m immortal too, Hades. I’m afraid you can’t kill me. But I can turn you into ashes and make you perish without a chance of rebirth, especially her...” she whispered the last two words which only the two of them can hear.

Hades was dumbfounded and felt threatened at Luna’s words, but his heart felt anxious. Knowing that someone learns about his secret almost sends him on edge, but he pulls himself together and looks at Luna incredulously. He felt uncomfortable and at the same time felt threatened by Luna’s ability to see through him as though she read him like an open book.

He was aggrieved and said with a piercing glare and gritted teeth, “We're not done yet, young lady! I will send you to your doom sooner or later!”

His voice reverberates through the hall.

Feeling defeated, Hades turned into black smoke and disappeared from everyone’s sight while fuming in rage.

Even when Hades disappeared for quite a while, they still could feel his anguish in the air. They just sighed and shrugged their shoulders.

“Luna, you shouldn’t say that to Hades because he will only turn the world upside down just to find a way to kill you.” Goddess Artemis/Luna said anxiously.

“Grandmother, no matter what he does, he could not find a way to kill me. Even if I was stabbed a million times or blown away to pieces, it wouldn’t kill me.” Luna said with confidence.

“Yes, Grandmother. You can trust Luna.” Leena agreed with a proud tone.

“But what about your twin? What if Hades attacks her?”

With a chuckle, Luna hugged her grandmother's arms to ease her worries.

“Grandmother, you seem to have forgotten something?” She looks at Luna questioningly.

“Leena is also an immortal like me,” Luna said while smiling.

“How?” Goddess Artemis and Leena both said in astonishment. Leena was also confused by Luna’s words.

“In time, you will understand my words,” Luna said meaningfully. The two looked at Luna like she had grown two heads. Luna just laughed at their reaction.

“Leena, remember this… ‘If sacrifices were made by the chosen one. Their soul will come back and will be granted a gift. An eternal life. It means ‘Immortality’.” Luna added and didn’t explain further. She let Leena decipher the meaning of her words.

~~~~
[Leena]
After the scary confrontation with Hades earlier, the gods excuse themselves and Grandmother brought us to her abode.
Until now, I still wonder why Luna says that I am immortal like her. I keep thinking about it for some reason, especially the words she said to me.
‘If sacrifices were made by the chosen one. Their soul will come back and will be granted a gift. An eternal life. It means ‘Immortality’
What does that mean?
Who is the ‘chosen one’? Isn’t she the chosen one? That’s why she became a goddess, isn’t it? I’m really confused.
Aish, what a mess!
Suddenly, Luna’s presence startled me.
She chuckled. “Don’t think too much about what I said, Leena,” she said, and sat down beside me.
“Hmm.” I nodded reluctantly and looked at her with curiosity. Sometimes, my twin is really mysterious and that scares me. She’s like a different person sometimes. When she became a goddess, she knew a lot of things now. She can read a person’s past and future like an open book. A hidden secret couldn’t even escape with her eyes that see through the soul.
“Luna, are you going back to Moondrous with me?” I asked.
“I don’t know yet, Leena. As long as I want to be with you together with mama and papa, I couldn’t right now. Because I have a heavy responsibility to do. But don’t worry, after I’m done with my duties or I have some spare time, I will surely go down to be with you.”
“I know. But don’t forget that I’m always here whenever you need me.” I said while smiling. She leaned her head on my shoulder and played with my hand.
“It’s the same with me, Leena. Just call my name and I’ll be there in times you need me. Even with how far I am, I will always be there. Remember that we are connected, and I will always hear your call. I love you, Leena...” I smiled broadly and entwined our fingers.
“I love you too, Luna. Whatever path you will choose, you have my full support, no matter what happens. Just don’t disappear again for too long without telling us. Because you make me worried even more not knowing whether you’re alive or dead. And if ever you disappear again, I will find you wherever you are, to the ends of the world. Will you promise?”
“Hm, I promise, cross my heart. I will be struck with lightning if I ever fail to fulfill my promise!” Luna said with a smile.
I took out my pinky finger, and she gladly accepted it. And we both kissed our hands as a seal of our promise.
We both stood up and nodded at each other.
Finally, we are going back to the Faraway Kingdom. Although this time Luna will only stay for a few days because she will be busy with her divine duties.
In a snap of Luna’s finger, we appeared in the palace. We found mama and papa hugging on the terrace while looking up at the bright moon.
“Can we join?” Luna and I said at the same time.
Mama and papa looked in our direction with stunned expressions. Their eyes widened, and they both froze like they saw a ghost or something.
“You are back!” mama exclaimed when she recovered from her trance.
Luna and I both giggled and rushed to hug them both. They welcomed us with wide open arms, smiling happily.
Now, our family is complete and happy. And finally, we can take a breather. No more troubles and no more danger.
Who would have thought that my twin would become a goddess? Her disappearance before turned out to be the way to answer our questions as to why she became invisible. I guess Luna’s fate has already been decided from the very beginning.
I wonder what will happen in the near future?
I know this is just the beginning of my and Luna’s destiny. And we still have many challenges to face to become even stronger.
A smile appeared on my lips as I savored the moment. Currently, we are all staring at the enormous moonlight. It’s very beautiful. I don’t know how Luna did it but the moon actually glows automatically when night time comes but still disappears when the day comes. It was like there was a hidden button on the moon that only Luna knows. I just shrugged my shoulders and set the thoughts aside.
Papa and I both smile to see Luna still embracing mama like there’s no tomorrow. Luna always longed to hug our mother. To feel our mother’s warm embrace that she always wanted to experience. Mama didn’t complain because I know she loves it the most. She liked being pampered by my twin.
I am so happy for my twin because she suffered and endured several years before she could hug and talk to our parents.
Indeed, love and sacrifice make things fall perfectly right when it’s the right time.
Papa and I looked at each other knowingly and joined the embrace. Mama and Luna both giggled. “I love you, mama and papa...” Luna and I both said and smiled at each other.
“I love you too, my beautiful princesses.” Mama and papa said at the same time and kissed our foreheads.
“But isn’t Luna a goddess now?” I said with raised eyebrows, and they both laughed.
“Of course she is, but she will always remain our princess.” Mama smiled softly and showered Luna with small kisses on her face. Luna giggled softly and didn’t complain in the slightest.
“Both of you are our princesses, forever in our hearts. No one could replace that.” said papa, teary-eyed. He’s happy. We are all happy right now and we couldn’t ask for more than being with each other.
Oh, I love this family so much!
