LUNA: The Invisible Princess

Chapter 14: Leena Meets Medusa

[Luna]

It's now late at night, but I'm still wide awake. I keep on tossing and turning. Sighing, I got up, then grabbed a jacket in the cabinet, and teleported to Alesia's secret place.

The wind is a bit chilly, so I close my eyes. My long hair was dancing along with the wind. I sat and leaned in the tree while looking up at the bright moon. I don't know, but every time I look at the moon, it hypnotizes me as it urges me to go up there.

Grandma... Do you want me to go there? Are you lonely up there?

I smiled as the moon shone in my direction.

"Why are you still awake?" I turned my attention to Alesia. She sat next to me.

"I can’t sleep, so I came here..." I said.

"Me too..."

"Is something bothering you?" I asked and stared at her, also looking at the moon.

"Sort of." she sighed and looked at me. Our eyes locked on each other. Why is it that every time I stare into her eyes I feel like I'm being hypnotized?

"Is it Zenon?" I asked, and she looked away, then nodded slowly.

"I knew it! Has he confessed to you yet?" My sudden question surprised her.

"How did you find out?" she asked, a bit surprised.

"I know Zenon is in love with you..." she turned around and started crying.

"Hey! Why are you crying?" I comforted her, and she suddenly hugged me.

"Because I don't know what to do. I don't want to hurt him because it hurt me too. Earlier, he confessed to me that... that he had loved me since we were young and I was just looking at him. I don't know what to say because I'm confused about my feelings..." I caressed her back.

She pulled away and touched my face, which surprised me. She stared me in the eye.

"Luna... you know I like you..."

"Is that why you're confused?" she nodded.

"Alesia… it’s wrong. You're just confused. But Zenon has been there for you since you were young. Compared to the two of us together, it's only been a few days since we met. Besides, you'll only get hurt if you continue your feelings for me because I only consider you as a… friend. I'm sorry, Alesia." Her lips trembled as tears flowed down her face. I felt terrible for rejecting her, but I have to do this sooner or later.

"And one more thing, you know that I will not stay here for long because I will return to my world any time..."

I hugged her as she began sobbing.

I let out a deep breath. I don't know what to do because I don't want to hurt other people's feelings, but I've already hurt her... and it also hurts me. Of all people, why me, Alesia?

Can I be just your friend and no more than that?

[Leena]

"Aaaaaahhhhh!"

The moment a wolf attacked us, I summoned my sword and beheaded it. I released my intimidating aura, and the other wolves retreated in fear. Others were afraid to look at me.

I know my eyes are glowing. The wolves bowed as if paying respect and apologizing for their audacity.

"Leena... what's going on?" I looked at Marga, who was still shaking behind me.

"Your... your eyes..." her eyes widened as she looked at me in awe. She looked around and stared in amazement at the wolves crouched down at us.

Gradually, the wolves disappeared into the darkness, and eventually, we never saw them again. Only then did my eyes return to normal.

We continued walking for more than an hour before we reached a cave. It’s Medusa's home.

"We're here,"

"What? Is this it? Shall we go in there? Ehh," she held my arm, and she was shaking again.

I felt the surroundings and used my night vision. Then I saw Medusa look confused. She seemed to feel our presence.

Before we entered the cave, I took something out of my storage ring. It is a shade that can block anything that can damage the eyes. I gave one to Marga, and I put on the other. One characteristic of these shades is that the person using them can see in the dark.

Marga puts on the shades and looks happy because she can see in the dark. We slowly went inside. But it surprised me when Marga suddenly yelled.

"Alyssa! Alyssa! Are you here? Alyssa!"

"Marga, what are you doing?!" I whispered.

"Don't worry, Leena. She's my friend. I know she won't hurt me because she's not evil like what others perceive her," she said, smiling, and I could do nothing but sigh.

Hiss! Hiss!

We were distracted when suddenly a snake attacked us.

"Waahhhh, snake!" Marga shouted in fear.

"What are you doing here? Will you capture me too?" We looked ahead and saw Medusa standing five-meter apart from us while glaring at us. Her eyes are scary to look at because she has the eyes of a snake, sharp and cautious.

"Alyssa! Is that really you? I'm Marga, your bestfriend..." Marga cried.

"Marga... Marga! Don't look into my eyes!" Alyssa said with fear in her voice and covered her eyes instead.

"Don't worry, we won't turn into a stone because the shades we're wearing blocked your power, so it’s fine," I said, and Medusa or Alyssa looked at me with a creased forehead.

"Who are you?" she asked, warily.

"Alyssa, Leena is my new friend. Don't worry. She's not like the others." Medusa/Alyssa turned to look at Marga. I could see in her eyes the sadness and longingness to hug her bestfriend, Marga. Gradually, Marga approached Alyssa, and Alyssa backed away a little in reflex, so Marga stopped while frowning.

"I know you miss each other. It's ok, Alyssa. You won't harm her, I promise." She looked at me with tears in her eyes. Alyssa talked to the snakes on her head.

"Don't hurt them, okay? Especially my bestfriend." I saw the snakes nod. Wow, they’re obedient.

At that point, they both ran to each other and hugged while sobbing.

"I miss you, Alyssa."

"I miss you so much, Marga. Sorry if I didn't visit you."

"It's ok, Alyssa. I understand your situation."

I was in tears looking at them because I missed Luna too.

Luna, where are you?

"How are you here? Are you eating well? Did you sleep comfortably?"

"I'm fine, Marga. I'm used to living on this mountain. There is food around the forest, and my siblings help me." She said while the snake on her head was dancing. She considered them siblings.

The big snakes on her head were just a little scary.

"How did you meet Leena?"

I approached them when I heard my name.

"I met her when someone stole my bag, and she helped me get it back," Marga said with a smile.

"Is that so..." Alyssa smiled at me. "Follow me. We'll continue our conversation at my house." We nodded and followed her.

In just a few minutes, we reached the end of the cave, where there were lights. Well, there’s a fire on the wall that illuminates the place. Also, there’s a bed, a table, chairs, and utensils carved in stones. And she has clothes too. Wow. Did Alyssa carve all these stones? She’s a genius.

We sat in the chair, and she gave us food and drinks.

"Alyssa, I just want to ask you something..." I said as we all sat down.

"Go ahead,"

"How did you get snakes in your head?" I asked, and the snake hisses.

She sighed before answering my question. "I don't know. When I was born, my head and eyes were already like this."

I stared at her. "I know who can help you find out what really happened to you."

"Who?" Marga and Alyssa asked at the same time.

"My twin sister, Luna. But we need to find her." I said.

"How can your twin help me?" Alyssa asked skeptically.

"My twin sister can see a person's past and future."

"Huh?" their forehead furrowed together.

Yeah, right? They didn't know who I really was.

"I'm not just an ordinary human because I have a power that ordinary people like you don't have." they look more confused.

For better understanding, I showed my ability through air and fire. I controlled the wind and put the fire off. I returned the fire immediately.

Marga and Alyssa were looking at me in shock.

"Woah," Marga blurted out in amazement.

Alyssa’s eyes widened. "How did you do that?"

"I already told you I'm not just an ordinary human because I came from another world."

"What?" they still couldn’t believe what they’d heard from me. I just shrugged my shoulders.

A few minutes later, we decided to sleep as drowsiness took over us. We will resume our conversation tomorrow.

[Luna]

Students look at me in awe as I walk down the hallway going to the cafeteria. I also heard their whispers amongst each other, but I ignored them. As if I care.

"Luna!" Venice shouted while waving at me when I entered the cafeteria. That got everyone’s attention, and they suddenly fell silent while looking at me with mouths hung in awe. I let out a sigh and gave a small smile at my group of friends, who were looking at me with wide smiles. I went to the counter first to order food.

After I got my order, I walked to the group’s table. I don't know what was going on, but they were all silent while looking at me in awe. Tsk. It’s kind of annoying. When I put my food tray on the table and sat at the empty seat next to Alesia, they snapped out of their daze.

"Hi, Luna! Oh, wow! Your new uniform suits you better!" Venice said, then the quiet atmosphere turned upside down. They actually complimented me on my new uniform. Why is it a big deal? I just shrugged my shoulders and munched on my food.

"Yeah, you're so beautiful! Look! All the boys were stunned looking at you!" Ereia said with excitement.

"Nah, not just boys! Girls as well!" Nicole giggled and winked.

"If I know, a certain someone out there was stunned earlier–ouch!" my forehead furrowed at what Ereia said.

"Your new uniform really suits you better than us. Well, welcome to the supreme section, Luna!" Claudette said with a smile. Everyone also welcomed me except Zenon, who was not in the mood.

"Thank you," I smiled and continued eating my meals. They also resumed eating.

After eating, we left the cafeteria and went to the classroom. The Supreme Section.

When I entered the classroom, my new classmates looked at me. Few students smiled at me and welcomed me. Meanwhile, others had unwelcoming vibes.

"You sit next to me, Luna," Alesia said, and I noticed everyone looked at her.

"All right," I smiled at her and sat down next to her. The others sat down in their chairs as well. We sit in the back. Alesia sat near the window, followed by me, then Ereia, Venice, and a girl I don’t know the name of. In front of us were Zenon, Leemin, Zaphe, Claudette, and Nicole.

The teacher arrived, and the class began. The group was silent while listening to the discussion. I looked at Alesia and noticed her head was slightly bent over. A few strands of hair fell on her face. I parted her hair to see her face. She fell asleep. Maybe she didn't sleep well last night. I leaned her head on my shoulder and listened to the teacher.

When the bell rang, everyone stood up except Alesia and me. Well, Alesia was still asleep on my shoulder.

"Lu–"

"Shh," I shushed them lest Alesia woke up. They kept their mouths shut. I saw Zenon staring at the sleeping Alesia. And I saw a glint of pain in his eyes, but it suddenly vanished as if it had never crossed. Tsk. Poor Zenon.

"We'll follow later. You go first. I'll just wait for Alesia to wake up." they nodded and then turned away. Ereia was smiling as she looked at me before following the group.

I looked at Alesia, who was still sound asleep. I slowly removed her head from my shoulder and leaned her back in the chair. Then I stood up and adjusted myself. I took our bag and slid it over my shoulder. Then I slowly carried her and immediately teleported to our secret place.

As I breathed in the fresh air, I smiled. I slowly laid Alesia down on the grass and then sat down while leaning against the tree. I laid her head on my lap. She was still sound asleep and looked restless.

I didn't realize I was staring at her face. She’s actually so pretty. She’s like an angel when sleeping. I couldn’t help but caress her hair. I turned my gaze in another direction. As I feel sleepy, I close my eyes.

I woke up when I felt someone caressing my cheek. When I opened my eyes, a pretty face greeted me that was so dangerously close to mine.

"Alesia," I uttered. She backed away, a bit startled.

"I'm sorry if I woke you up,"

"It's ok,"

"And I'm also sorry because I bothered you. I didn't realize that I fell asleep in the classroom. Why didn't you wake me up?" she said while scratching her nape. Her face flushed red.

"Because you look tired. I don’t want to disturb your good sleep. That's why I brought you here so you can sleep well." I said with a smile.

"Thank you," she said, and her face flushed even redder. Maybe it’s because of the heat. I just nodded at her.

She stood up and walked to the very end of the cliff.

"Hey, be careful! You might fall!" I said worriedly.

"I fell, but no one caught me."

"Eh?!" What is Alesia saying?

I approached her, and I looked down the cliff. I was stunned at its height. As I stepped back, I didn’t notice a protruding rock causing me to lose my balance as I stumbled. I just closed my eyes, thinking I would fall down the cliff. But it shocked me when Alesia pulled me to her, but she also lost balance. We both fell with my back on the ground and she landed on top of me. I grunted and when I looked up, Alesia’s face was so close to me. My lips parted slightly as I inhaled some air.

We just stared at each other for how long. Alesia's face slowly leaned down on me. I gasped and my eyes widened when our lips pressed together. She brushed her lips into mine and I don't know, but I responded to her kisses. I didn't realize that she was holding my hand. Damn it. What is happening to me?

When our lips parted, I stared at her in a daze. And when I realized what had happened, my eyes widened in shock, and I immediately stood up. I didn't notice that I pushed her until I heard her grunt in pain.

"Ouch!"

"Oh! Sorry, Alesia..." I helped her stand up.

"No, it's okay. I’m sorry, too," she said while looking at the ground. I was just looking at her, still shocked and confused at what happened.

There was silence between us, and no one dared to speak. I admit I was still shocked because it happened so fast. But why did I respond to that kiss? Damn it!
