THE ROOM fell into a deafening silence as all eyes turned to the Alpha King, their breaths held in fear. Rumors had circulated about the king's hideous appearance, but now they were proven wrong as they gazed upon his godly features. It was hard to believe that this man, was the same cursed Alpha King they had heard about. His chiseled jawline, tanned skin, and piercing gaze held an air of power and danger, making him both intriguing and intimidating. "Your Majesty, please forgive my son for his impertinence, he was merely trying to protect his mate," Aldous said as he bowed. He still couldn't believe he had traveled all the way from the capital to their territory and had even arrived without covering his face. Even Ezra was taken aback and felt humiliated he thought for sure that Helga would not be able to stay in a marriage with such a hideous Alpha King. But just the sight of his face was enough to bruise Ezra's ego, as much as he tried to deny it, his own appearance could not compare to his ex-lover's husband, despite being known as one of the most handsome he-wolf in the country. "Protect exactly from what?" Siegren asked, his piercing red eyes not leaving Is he had no intention of forgiving him for trying to lay a hand on his wife. "Your Majesty, I'm fine." She smiled warmly, gently brushing her hand against his cheek. And the fact that he arrived on time to support her and was unscathed only added to her relief. "Are you sure?" Siegren asked, his voice gentle and concerned as he placed his hand on top of Helga's, which was tenderly caressing his cheek. The sudden display of affection from the Alpha King surprised everyone, their eyes widening in shock. As soon as he calmed down and his aura finally subsided, Ezra gasped for air and looked up at them, struggling to comprehend what he was seeing. Helga, whose loving gaze he had thought was reserved only for him, now directed her affection towards another. Clenching his fists in frustration, his father helped him to his feet and used a mind link to urge him to compose himself before anyone else noticed his inner turmoil. "Yes," Helga nodded.

"While I was approaching the entrance, I heard everything they said to you." Siegren's voice remained calm when speaking to Helga, but as soon as he turned to face the Madden family, his tone became sharp and stern with a hint of anger in every word. "How any of you not address the Queen by her proper title? And to insult her as if you hold yourself above her... Is this Incarnadine's way of going against the royal pack?"

A chill ran through the Madden family as they considered the consequences of making an enemy out of the royal pack, even the Incarnadine pack member's face turned pale as they cast wary glances at the Alpha King. When they first learned that Helga had put herself up for Luna selection, the members of Incarnadine were speechless. But soon enough, they resorted to mocking her, deeming her actions absurd. Even when Helga was finally crowned as Queen, they continued ridiculing her, despite her no longer being a part of their pack. The common belief was that eventually, the powerful Alpha King would discard her or take her life like what the previous candidates did. But with the king standing firmly beside Helga and his threat directed at Alpha Ezra, the others realized they could no longer mock or disrespect her. She was no longer the orphan they had mistreated when they thought she was a fake; now, she was the most powerful she-wolf in the country, one deserving of respect and treated with the same reverence as the Alpha King himself. "We offer our sincerest apologies, Your Majesty. It was never our intention to go against the royal pack." Aldous maintained his typical demeanor, speaking in a calm and collected voice. Yet, inside, he couldn't help but be anxious about the potential for things to escalate. The party was already in shambles due to the unexpected arrival of the Alpha King, and Aldous knew it was crucial not to do anything else that might anger him further. He clenched his hand into a fist before forcing himself to relax as he glanced at Miranda and Ezra. "Apologize for the insult both of you had just said to the Queen," Aldous told them, causing the newlywed couple to clench their jaw in frustration. Instead of enjoying their special day, they were being scolded in public by the previous Alpha of their pack. It was a humiliating and shameful situation, but they knew they needed to make things right before it got out of hand. As the new leader of Incarnadíne, Ezra understood the importance of resolving this issue quickly to prevent any further conflicts from arising, especially since he had ascended to the title. 1/2

"Please forgive us. Your Majesty, the Queen. We apologize for speaking out of turn," Ezra said as he gently guided Miranda to lower her head in a bow, following his own actions.

"We apologize, Your Majesty," Miranda said through clenched teeth. She regretted not getting rid of Helga when she had the chance. She knew this would happen, that even though she was no longer part of the Incarnadine pack, Helga would continue to be a thorn in her side and cause problems for her. "It's okay, you can lift your heads," Helga said with a gentle smile on her lips. Miranda and Ezra hesitated before raising their heads slowly, feeling a chill run down their spines as they noticed the Queen's smile did not reach her eyes. "Let's not let this misunderstanding ruin the party." Helga and Siegren shared a knowing look, silently discussing how to handle the situation through their telepathic connection. Helga convinced him that it would be best to let things go for now because causing any more drama would only hinder Siegren's efforts to clear his name in the public eye. She didn't want his already tarnished reputation to suffer even more from allowing anger to dictate their actions, especially when he had already taken a big step forward by getting rid of his mask. So, when Siegren gave her a nod of agreement, Helga confidently stepped forward and met Ezra and Miranda's gaze. It was obvious that they were trying to conceal their embarrassment and hurt from being treated so poorly on their own celebratory occasion, and that alone, was enough for Helga to feel satisfied. "My husband and I offer our sincerest congratulations on your wedding," she greeted, her voice genuine but only serving to deepen the cut to the couple's already bruised ego. Now, Helga could only anticipate their downfall as her emerald eyes swept over those who had betrayed her before locking eyes with Miranda and Ezra again.
