Chapter 10
Chloe was still in shock to find her ex-boyfriend was in the city. She would ask Margo to stay over to make her feel comfortable. Her mood change made her morning sickness a little bit intense. Margo was getting worried. Chloe looked at me to give her the okay to tell her friend.
The next morning, Lucius spent the night on the couch. Margo and Chloe took the bed. Both came out to the smell of pancakes. Chloe took a sniff and was in the bathroom soon after.
"Okay, it is obvious that Chloe is pregnant," Margo confronted Lucius.
Lucius was dumbfounded and turned around. He put the kitchen dish towel down. Not saying for a second and sighed, "She is pregnant. It was sudden for both of us. She's not even five weeks yet."
Chloe came back to Margo and Lucius having a conversation not involving them going back to Pennsylvania. She was surprised about this. They never get along either. Not knowing the real reason why and it's best not to know for now. Lucius came over to Chloe to help her relax with something light to eat. Toast and grapes seemed to help her.
After cleaning the kitchen, Margo excused herself to leave to go back to Thomas. Chloe had mentioned that Margo and Thomas were engaged and were planning their wedding. Another event added to the calendar that just kept growing. Margo and Thomas’s wedding was three months from now. Right now, it was summer in Montana but that will change in early August. Chloe was afraid of her body due to her showing. Personally, it did not bother Lucius either.
Chloe sat down in front of her laptop again to finish what she was working on Saturday. She had to work at the diner later. Lucius watched her and texted Ian about what happened to Joe. He told his father about what happened and went on death ears.
A knock came at the door, Lucius opened it to reveal Ian standing in the hallway with his beta. Both werewolves stepped into the living room and sat down on the loveseat.
"We made Joe start to rot in the pack house. It was my idea as punishment for disrupting peace in my territory," Ian started looking at Lucius.
"How is that going to keep him down and from harming Chloe?" Lucius asked.
"We put him in silver chains and locked him behind a silver-infused wood door. It works on troublesome werewolves." Don informed Lucius.
Upon learning the beta's name, Chloe came out of her small office for a break. She noticed Ian and Don sitting in the living room. Putting her drink down and asked, "What is going on?"
"Ian is giving me a briefing on what he did to Joe is all. Joe is being left to rot in their basement for now." Lucius updated her.
Chloe was not moving but looked, satisfied with the answer that Lucius gave her. She was still scared at the mention of his name. Lucius knew it made her blood run cold. He came over to reassure her by rubbing their arms and hugging her. Learning of this, Chloe went back to work and wanted to forget the conversation ever happened.
"I guess what Joe did to her in the past still haunts her," Don intercepted.
"Yes, he stalked her for a while and had a straining order on him. It will haunt her for a while. So, I am giving her time to heal." Lucius comments.
"I warned him about hurting people in my territory before but it never got through to him. I will say the same for you too. Since I know you are not from here. If you are planning to cause trouble for anyone here. I suggest you leave or answer me," Ian warned Lucius as well.
"I promise. No trouble from me," Lucius nodded, "I have my father coming to visit. So, he will be coming to meet Chloe. Is that okay with you for him to visit?"
"Depends on him how he is towards Chloe," Ian stated.
"Exactly," Lucius nodded.
"Her parents are going to visit to see her. I just hope no drama happens for her with them being here," Ian informs Don. Who only nodded.
The boys stayed for a while to hang out and watched the television. They stayed long enough that we're starting to get dark outside. Both Ian and Don stood up as Chloe was coming out from work, she bidded the guys good night. Chloe came over to Lucius and rested her head on his shoulder.
"How was freelance writing?" Lucius asked trying to be funny.
Chloe raised an eyebrow and said, "It was fine. I managed to get the rest of my deadlines done for the week. I should get ready to go to work at the diner."
She soon stood up to go do that.
Lucius went to the kitchen to make them dinner, so would be quick for Chloe to eat something. Chloe came back out when he was about done. She was surprised by the gesture. He placed a plate of pasta in front of her. Chloe thanked him and ate in silence.
"Are you nervous about seeing your parents?" Lucius asked.
"In a way I am. They were not happy with the last conversation we had. You were there to see that. They did say they were coming to see me later next week. I get to meet your dad the same day. Talk about drama coming with both of them being here." Chloe said. She put her fork down and looked at Lucius.
"What about your mother?" Chloe wandered.
"My mother left when I was young. She will not set foot in the same room as my father or me for what I am. One day, she up and left without saying anything to either of us. My father became bitter and had been the same ever since." Lucius said looking down and did not say anything else. He gathered the plates to clean up dinner.
Lucius clean up the kitchen and helped Chloe get her jacket on. Both of them went out the door and drove to the diner. Chloe kissed Lucius on the cheek and went inside. He drove back to her apartment to finish work for his father’s company. Putting the work back in the envelope and mailed it out.
Later, Chloe came home from work and went to bed. Lucius was already asleep when she entered. Not disturbing him, she turned in for the day.
