Love's Redemption (Chris and Maddie)

Chapter Redmption 339

Chapter 339

Looking at Jewel, who refused to accept the truth, I smirked mockingly. "Chris and I have known each other since we were kids. We've shared everything, from meals to bathroom habits. I even know how many times a day he farts and poops."

I quoted Derick when he was teasing Chris and me last time.

Jewel stumbled slightly, shaking her head. "No, it's not like that."

"If you don't believe me, then try it," I said, my voice laced with menace.

Jewel was speechless, staring at me blankly before turning and staggering out.

I watched her back as she left, thinking about her behavior today. After a few seconds of contemplation, I

still decided to call Chris.

At that moment, I had forgotten that he was playing the disappearing act, not answering anyone's calls.

"Maddie." Chris' voice came from the other end.

When he picked up the phone, his low voice snapped me out of my thoughts. I remembered everyone's concern for him and Zack's current condition and asked,

"Where are you? You're not a kid anymore, yet you'd still pull this disappearing act?"

I had no desire to scold him, nor did I think his disappearance or running away had anything to do with me. But my words cut loose, revealing the bitterness I'd been holding back. I was done with his games and my anger spoke for itself.

Chris was silent on the other end, which only fueled my anger.

"Chris."

"Did you only call to chew me out?" he asked softly.

I let out a cold snort. "I'm not that bored."

"Yes, I guess I'm not even worth your scolding anymore." Chris' dejected tone got on my nerves.

"Chris, what's with the melodrama again? Running away at the drop of a hat, is this still you?" I questioned mockingly.

Chris let out a mocking chuckle. "I'm only human, and I need a break sometimes too."

Hearing this, I didn't bother to say more and just responded, "Well, before you run off, make sure your woman behaves."

Chris was silent for a moment on the other end, then asked, "What happened to Jewel?"

It was ironic how he automatically assumed it was about Jewel.

But I had moved on, so I told the truth. "She wants to get rid of the baby, and she had a heated argument with lan's mother today."

"Then, she's playing with fire." Chris dropped a harsh remark.

I was stunned into silence, and moments later Chris hung up.

stood there, dazed, slowly moving the phone away from my ear. I realized I hadn't mentioned anything about Zack.

"Why are you standing here?" Brandon's voice sounded

I looked up at him, my mouth moved, but I didn't know what to say.

"Mommy, that lady is bleeding from her butt." A child's innocent voice suddenly piped up.

The child's mother hushed the child.

This made me look over to see the mother and child watching me.

It was only then that I realized something. I quickly grabbed Brandon. "My pants are stained."

He paused, then looked at me. "You..."

Embarrassed, I buried my head in his chest. "It's my period."

The next second, I felt him gently pull away. He grasped his shirt's hem and took off his T-shirt in one swift motion. Then, with a deft twist, he cinched it around my waist. My gaze was fixed on his bare torso. I stared at his firm chest muscles and his well-defined abs.

I had never seen Brandon in the sunlight before, even though we were together.

A strange warmth crept up my nose, and before I knew it, warm liquid trickled down.
