Love’s Little Miracles By Chloe Wallis

Chapter 1

Chapter 1

Chapter 1

It was a cold night outside the luxurious yet quiet Seascape Hotel.

Caroline Lewis’ eyes got covered by a black eyemask. Her hands gripped the sheets while her heart filled with anxiety and restlessness.

The mattress dipped as a heavy weight pressed onto the space next to her.

Caroline felt his hands reaching over to her. She quickly grabbed onto his wrists.

“Don’t look at my face!” she exclaimed.

The man’s mellow yet magnetic voice sounded next to her. “Don’t you want to know who will spend the night with you?”

Caroline’s heart ached as tears spilled out of her eyes. She shook her head but said, “No matter who you are, you’re my lifesaver. Thank you!”

No one could know who she was.

If the news got out that the beloved daughter of the Lewis residence sold her body for 40 thousand dollars, people would unquestionably point their fingers at Caroline.

She was sad, but she had no other choice but to sell her body to a strange man.

Caroline needed the money to save her mother, who was currently lying in the hospital.

Caroline would not have gone this far if it were not for her coldhearted father and her lying boyfriend, who stole her shares and kicked her out.

An alluring, fresh smell filled the man’s nostrils.

He liked the clean and pleasant body scent from Caroline.

That man then made another request. “I’ll give you 400 thousand dollars dollars if you give birth to my child. Are you willing to do that?”

If Caroline had 300 thousand dollars, her mother would have a chance to live.

Thus, she answered, “I agree…”

“Good girl.” The man curled his lips into a charming smile and got on top of Caroline.

Eight months later, it was nightfall when Caroline got awakened by the smell of thick smoke. She woke up coughing and noticed the massive blaze outside her window. The flames spread into the room and engulfed the curtains like a greedy gremlin.

A fire had broken out.

Caroline instantly understood the danger that she was in at that moment. Mustering her strength, she quickly got out of bed while supporting her swollen belly.

She escaped her room only to find out that her living room was also set on fire. The flames wildly spread, and smoke billowed in all directions. Caroline quickly covered her mouth and nose as she ran forward with much difficulty.

What made things worse was that all of the doors and windows of the mansion got locked. Caroline had no way of escaping. Finally, she managed to find a landline, but someone had cut its cord.

Suddenly, a familiar voice sounded from outside. “After Caroline’s mother dies, my mom can officially marry into the Lewis residence, replacing the former. Even till death, Caroline probably doesn’t know that I, Yvonne Xanthos, am a biological descendant of the Lewis residence.”

“Yvonne Xanthos, my cousin, is my biological sister?” Caroline exclaimed inwardly.

“Everything should have been yours anyway. Now that Caroline’s shares are with me, she has nothing now,” said Seth Gomez, Caroline’s scheming ex-boyfriend.

“Is that Seth? How dare he scam me of my shares and work together with Yvonne!” Caroline m y seethed upon realization.

“Pour more gasoline for the fire to burn brighter. It would be best if Caroline and that ba rd child of hers burn to ashes,” Yvonne said.

To that, Seth replied, “You’re right. We’ll have everything we want and live without a care in the world only when she dies.”

Anger and confusion filled Caroline as she realized the two were trying to murder her.

Their messy footsteps finally trailed away, What remained was the fire that grew larger with every passing second. Pungent smoke became even thicker as well.

The flames licked Caroline’s skin, filling her mind with fear.

Caroline refused to die. After all, her mother was still in the hospital.

She quickly smashed the glass window while shouting, “Help! There’s a fire! Save me!”

After what felt like forever, Caroline lay down on the floor. She had difficulties breathing at that point.

Just as she thought all hope was lost, the doors to the mansion burst open, and an elderly but familiar silhouette rushed straight into the fire. “Ms. Caroline!”

“Daniel, I’m here!” Tears spilled out of Caroline’s eyes as she felt moved upon hearing the old butler’s voice amid her despair.

Daniel, her butler, quickly kicked the burning furniture away. Without any regard for his safety, Daniel rushed over to Caroline, who was suffocating from the thick smoke. “Hurry up and follow me, Ms. Caroline.”

With Daniel’s support, Caroline made her way to the door. Just as they were about to make it out, a beam fell toward Caroline.

When Daniel noticed it, he immediately pushed Caroline out of the main doors. As a result, he ended up getting trapped underneath the fallen beam.

When Caroline managed to get to her feet, she turned around only to find out that Daniel had fallen after getting hit by the beam. Flames crept up his body, and he could not escape.

Warm tears streamed down Caroline’s cheeks as she cried out in pain, “Mr. Daniel!”

“Get out of here, Ms. Caroline! Go as far as you can! Don’t come back!” Daniel’s old and weak voice sounded.

“Mr. Daniel…” With reddened eyes, Caroline stared at the raging sea of fire. There was nothing but flames left.

Half a month later, Quintin Ziegler was working in the CEO’s office on the 59th floor of Quinton Corporation. That was when his assistant, Flynn Xander, rushed into the room. “Mr. Ziegler, one of our subordinates, found a newborn baby on the doorsteps of the mansion. It’s probably less than a month old.”

“What?” Quintin asked in confusion.

No one knew about the address to the mansion except for that woman. When Quintin realized it, he immediately stood and asked. “Where’s the child now?”

“The baby seemed feeble and sick. I’ve already ordered someone to bring it to the hospital for treatment,” Flynn replied.

“Let’s go to the hospital at once!”

Upon arrival at the hospital. Quintin saw a baby boy lying inside an incubator. The babe looked tiny and pinkish. It was exceedingly small and adorable. The moment Quintin laid his eyes on the baby, his heart softened.

Even though the infant was still so young. Quintin could tell that it was indeed his son. He could see some of his features on the baby.

Quintin had spent 300 thousand dollars on that woman named Macy, and she had fulfilled her promise of giving him a child.

On that thought, Quintin quickly turned to Flynn and ordered, “Go and find out where the baby’s mother is. Bring her

over.”

“On it!” Flynn immediately brought some men with him to search for the mother.

Three days passed when he came back to report to Quintin. “Mr. Ziegler, we’ve scoured through all of Jipsdale, but we didn’t find any woman named Macy. We’ve also gone through the Obstetrics and Gynecology department in every hospital, and none of their patients match the description of the baby’s mother.”

“Continue to look for her. I must find her no matter what,” Quintin ordered as he furrowed his eyebrows, wondering where Macy had gone after giving birth to his son.

Five years later, a black limo stopped in front of Lucent Venture Capital. The luxury vehicle’s door soon opened to reveal a tall and slender woman.

Caroline was dressed in a black outfit, with an aura of confidence and authority. A pair of broad-rimmed sunglasses perched on her nose, covering her cold expression.

In the last five years, the woman’s fear and pain had gotten washed away by her newfound calmness and tolerance.

She was finally back.

Her two sons jumped out of the car after her. Both of her sons were very good-looking even at such a young age. The one wearing a dashing suit with a cold expression was Mayson, and the other boy in a colorful hoodie was Cayson, who loved to smile. Both had taken their mother’s last name, Lewis.

As Caroline walked into the building, the two boys quickly caught up with her.

“Wait for us, Mommy!

Everyone who walked past them could not help but look back to do a double-take. “That woman looks so cool! She’s even bringing her two handsome sons!

“Are they our company’s newly hired young models?” a staff member from Lucent Venture Capital asked.

In the eyes of outsiders, Caroline and her sons resembled a goddess who was leading her kids onward.

After taking the elevator to the highest floor, Caroline made her way to the CEO’s office. The CEO, Yohan Coleman, quickly walked over to greet them with a smile as he had been waiting for a long time. “You’re finally back, Boss!”

Thank you for your hard work all this while, Coleman.”

After greeting Yohan, Caroline walked over to the desk, sat down, and worked.

No one knew that Garoline was the boss of Lucent Venture Capital. Yohan was merely one of her subordinates helping her to manage the company.

“I missed you so much, Mr. Coleman!” Cayson rushed over to Yohan happily. The boy was such a sweet-talker.

“Gosh, look at you, Cayson! I didn’t get to see you for three whole months. I missed you so much, too!” Yohan picked Cayson up and spun the latter around.

He then turned to look at Mayson, who had a cold expression. “Come over here, Mayson. Let me give you a hug

“How immature!” Mayson crossed his arms, not wanting to get kissed or lifted into the air.

“D n, did I get dissed?”

Yohan did not know whether to laugh or cry. To him, the two kids looked identical but had very different personalities.

He soon arranged for someone to bring the kids out to play as he reported to Caroline what had happened in Jipsdale.

“As of now, the Lewis residence has taken ultimate control over Thompson Group. Your father. Harry Lewis, is now the Chairman, and Seth is the CEO. The rest of Thompson Group’s shares have gotten divided to the other shareholders.”

“Keep a close eye on them. Buy the company’s shares once they are for sale,” Caroline instructed.

She had previously trusted the wrong people, which led to her maternal grandfather’s company, Thompson Group, getting taken by someone else. Thus, Caroline had returned now to regain control of the company.

“Has Daniel been buried yet?” she asked.

“We’ve already completed a proper burial for Daniel. He’s now resting in Jipsdale Cemetery.”

Caroline nodded before asking, “How has the Lewis residence been?”

“Recently, Yvonne Lewis got selected by the Ziegler family to marry Quintin Ziegler. I think that’s happening today.”

Again, Caroline nodded before probing further, “How’s the search going?”

“I was just about to tell you. I’ve managed to locate the whereabouts of your eldest son.”

“Tell me!”

Caroline was eager to know where her firstborn child from five years ago had ended up.
