Chapter 40
Chapter 40
Dominick glanced at Jessica, who was too shocked to speak, and then at the wedding decorations, furrowing his brows slightly.
He seemed to know why Jessica was so shocked. Her eyes were wide open, and she had completely lost control of her facial expressions!
The host, unsure of what to do, litted the microphone only to put it down again, not taking any further action for quite a while.
Dominick narrowed his eyes slightly, his gaze falling on Laura, who was seated in the front row.
Laura had arranged everything there, yet the wedding was an exact replica of the one Landon and Jessica had years ago, as if it had been copied
He wondered what she was implying.
Laura smiled faintly, responding to Dominick’s gaze.
Everyone present was clueless about what was happening, whispering to each other with lowered voices.
“Why do those two lo
two look so odd?”
“I have no idea, but it’s embarrassing with so many people watching, it’d be so shameful if something went wrong during the wedding”
“Mr. Sinclair, should …continue?” the host hesitantly asked.
Dominick looked away, his expression inscrutable.
“Continue.”
Jessica also managed to regain her composure, hiding any inappropriate emotions.
The host breathed a sigh of relief. This was Dominick’s wedding, and any mishap could cost him his job!
“Mr. Sinclair, from this day forward, whether in poverty or wealth, in health or sickness, will you care for her, cherish her, protect her, understand her, and respect her? Do you agree?”
The host’s question echoed, but Dominick’s thoughts uncontrollably drifted to the day when Lola looked at him with eyes full of love, saying she agreed.
Dominick glanced over the crowd, searching for that girl from the past.
When their eyes met, he felt a sharp pain in his heart.
She smiled, her beautiful eyes only filled with him. The Lola of that time belonged only to him.
But when he looked through the crowd to find her gaze again, it was empty, cold, as if she were a stranger
Dominick didn’t respond immediately, and Jessica followed his gaze, face darkened.
This was her wedding, hers and Dominick’s! She couldn’t tolerate the slightest distraction,
She wondered why, during their wedding, Dominick’s gaze was fixed on Lola when such questions were asked.
This moment of happiness belonged to her and Dominick alonel
Jealousy had rage filled her mind, but she bit her lip, pushing down all hatred, and softly reminded him,

His gaze remained steadfastly on Lola, and not a moment was shared with Jessica.
Such a vow he could only make to one woman in his life.
And on Lola and his wedding day, he had made it.
“I do.” His unusually tender voice was filled with warmth, but only for Lola in the distance.
Though Dominick, standing beside Jessica, spoke the words, they didn’t seem meant for her:
Because his gaze never lingered on Jessica, not even for a second!
Jessica was on the verge of exploding, the thorns of the roses she held piercing her hand without her noticing.
She knew all too well that the tenderness and the response from Dominick were not meant for her!
Despite this, Jessica didn’t want to ruin the wedding. She had to marry Dominick, regardless of whether he liked her or not. She just wanted to be with
him!
“Ms. Moore
“wall”
Before the host could finish, Laura suddenly raised her hand, interrupting calmly.
The host took a deep breath, fraught with tension. He wondered why this wedding was led with so many complications.
Jessica’s brow furrowed slightly, a sense of unease creeping into her heart.
Dominick, appearing unsurprised, looked at her with a calm gaze, waiting for Laura’s next words.
“I just remembered that I prepared a gift for the newlyweds. Let’s play it now,” Laurs said, glancing at the time as if deliberately choosing this moment
Looking somewhat troubled, the host said, “Ms. Edwards, could you please wait until after the ceremony to present your gif
Laura’s face remained elegantly smiling, but her tone left no room for refusal
“I want it played now, or it will be too late.”
Jessica, confused, looked at Laura, fearing some mishap might disrupt the wedding, “Let’s wait,” she suggested.
Laura’s gaze settled on Jessica, seemingly gentle yet inexplicably chilling
Jessica hesitated but didn’t say anything more.
“We can start now,” Laura said, slowly standing up, her expression intriguing
Everyone was baffled. Even Lola had no clue what was about to unfold.
Suddenly, a piercing sound came from nowhere, alipost unbearable!
The big screen showed footage from inside a car, the vehicle shaking uncontrollably
A familiar face zoomed into the center of the screen, the groom of the wedding, Dominick
“Landon!” It was Dominick’s voice.
Then, abruptly, there was silence. The picture shook again: A pair of hands could be vaguely seen. Someone pushed Landon. Then he was thrown out of the car!

The screen went dark, and bright red letters appeared, as vivid as fresh blood.
[My son didn’t die in an accident. He was murdered by Dominick! For power, he killed his brother. He deserves to diel]
The room erupted into chaos!
“What? Mr. Landon Sinclair’s death wasn’t an accident but was caused by Mr. Sinclair!”
“Oh my! Dominick killed Landon to inherit the Sinclair Group and to legitimately be with his brother’s wife!”
“Despicable! Truly despicable! I thought he married Jessica to fulfill Landon’s last wish, but it turns out they were in cahoots all along!”
In an instant, Dominick was branded as a murderer who killed his brother for a woman and power!
Dominick could never have imagined that such a shadowy part of his past would be processed and publicly revealed.
He couldn’t believe that a woman, always so gentle, could show such a fierce expression and take such ruthless actions.
Laura’s smile grew wider, yet her eyes remained cold.
Finally, she dropped her gentle facade, revealing the long–hidden hatred in her eyes.
“Don’t be so shocked. There’s more.”
