Chapter 3
Chapter 3 Do You Really Want To Marry Zack
Michaela only took the call after she had hurried into her room and closed the door behind her.
“Who the heck are you, and what do you want?” Michaela deliberately questioned the caller in an icy-cold tone.
Michaela’s phone had not stopped ringing even though she took some time to get to her bedroom from the living room. It was as
if the caller knew for sure that she would answer the call.
Hence, Michaela was confident that the caller had an ulterior motive for sending her the package.
However, Michaela’s rude tone did not seem to bother the caller at all. “I just helped you see the truth. Shouldn’t you be thanking
me?” asked the voice from the other end of the line, which remained calm and collected.
If it were not for the phone call she received that morning and the fact that Lucille was the subject of the scandal, Michaela would
not be so sure that the mysterious caller was scheming against her.
However, everything the caller had done made it difficult for her to believe otherwise. Even though I have no idea what this guy is
trying to achieve, I’m sure he has an ulterior motive for “helping” me.
With rage blazing in her eyes, Michaela sneered, “So I should be thanking you for taking the time to prepare such a shocking
surprise for me? Maybe I should thank you for trying to drive a wedge between my sister and me too.”
Michaela stared out the window with her obsidian eyes as she continued to question the mysterious person coldly, “Why are you
doing this? What do you get from ruining our wedding?”
“Does that mean you don’t believe what’s reported on the news?”
Suddenly, the voice from the other end of the line no longer sounded amiable. Instead, it had turned extremely icy and hostile.
The stranger’s words were so brusque that anyone who heard them would feel offended.
However, Michaela was unperturbed by the change of tone. “Yes, because I don’t see why I should trust you!” replied Michaela
candidly.
Even though Lucille was an adopted member of the Lingard family, she grew up with Michaela. Hence, Michaela had no reason
to believe the mysterious caller instead of Lucille.
On top of that, it was Michaela who decided that Lucille should go to Rose Peak.
In order to get slim enough to fit into the wedding dress the Xanders had custom-made for her, Michaela decided to go on a diet.
However, due to an improper diet plan, Michaela eventually ended up being too frail to travel to Rose Peak with Zack.
They were supposed to pick the flowers for their wedding there, and since the ceremony was just around the corner, Michaele
had asked Lucille to go in her place.
She never expected the two to end up all over the news because of that.
Michaela was convinced that the only reason Lucille did not bring up the matter was that the woman did not want her or her
family to worry.
Instead of making Michaela doubt Lucille, the stranger’s words made Michaela even more certain that she was right to trust
Lucille and that the outsider was plotting something against her.
After her straightforward answer, the conversation stopped for a moment. Michaela thought the caller would just hang up on her,
but the person calmly continued, “Do you really want to marry him?”
“What?”
Michaela and Zack got engaged after graduating high school and began planning their wedding after university. It was as if their
journey as a couple was scripted.
Everybody knew they were childhood sweethearts, but nobody ever asked her if she really wanted to spend the rest of her life
with Zack.
Outsiders probably just thought that Michaela should consider herself lucky to be able to marry into the Xander family.
To Michaela, however, the relationship between Zack and her was more like that of siblings rather than an engaged couple.
However, she never told anybody that.
