Chapter 17
Chapter 17
Melody laughed in exasperation, thinking that people were really hypocrites.
“Don’t tell me you wanted me to keep myself for you? Then what? You want me to watch you and my best friend being lovey–dovey?”
“Darling, don’t be angry. You’ll scare the baby,” Maverick sounded next to Melody. He was trying to lower his voice, but Joshua still heard them.
“You’re pregnant?” Joshua stared at Melody as if he was trying to catch any microexpression on her.
However, there was none. Melody looked like she was brimming with happiness.
In the end, she gave him the final blow.
“Yes, and it’s a pair of twins!” She pecked Maverick’s cheek after that and added. “You’re incredible, Darling.”
She emphasized the word “incredible,” and Maverick immediately knew what she meant by that.
To Joshua, both of them looked like they were flirting. He deeply regretted the video call and also the words that he had just
said to her.
All those things he had done before were like a slap in his face.
Thinking of that, Joshua immediately threw his phone on the ground, and the video call finally ended.
Melody heaved a sigh of relief when it ended, and she quickly got out of Maverick’s embrace.
However, Maverick was still grabbing her shoulder, and she felt something hot on her neck after that.
“What? Are you going to abandon me after taking advantage of me?”
She was a little diffident when she heard that. Hesitantly, she replied, “W–What? You’re the one who did that willingly. I didn’t force you to do anything.”
“Ha! You really know how to take advantage of a situation, Darling.”
The man was looking at her face with those beautiful eyes of his. She felt like she did not amount to anything at all when she was being looked at like that.
He had even deliberately called her “Darling” as if to remind her of what had happened just then.
“He’s such an awful person!” Melody thought.
“W–Who’s your ‘darling? You’re the one who did that willingly.”
“Oh I don’t remember forcing Ms. Tuffin to call me ‘Darling‘ as well.”
With that, Maverick grinned. It was his first time watching someone burn the bridges down so quickly after crossing them. “What an ungrateful little thing!” he thought.
Melody really did not know what she should say since she, indeed, had taken advantage of him.
Maverick just let go of her when he saw her distressed face, and she immediately sed on the reclining chair after being
let go.
“You’re the only one who dared to use me and still lived to see it. The others wouldn’t have been able to see the morning sun
anymore.”
A sinister look appeared on his face, but only for a second. Even so, Melody did not miss any of his expressions since she was looking at his face,
“Oh, my God Just what kind of man am I messing with now?” she thought, feeling helpless.
Melody was so scared that she did not even dare move from the chair. The phone in her hand slid off and fell to the ground, creating a sudden noise in the silent–filled room.
She immediately picked it up, but Maverick was one step ahead of her as he picked up the tiny, old phone.
The man then placed the phone back into her hand and said teasingly, “Grab it tight. This little thing can’t suffer any more damage.
Melody was speechless at that.
Indeed, she had dropped the phone several times, but from the way he said it, it was as if he was implying that her phone was fragile and could break at any moment.
Melody rolled her eyes when she heard that, not wanting to reply to him.
Maverick was not angry with that. He even took a blanket and covered her with it.

“You can bask in some sunlight here, but remember to cover yourself with a blanket. You’ll catch a cold if you fall asleep. without it.”
After that, as if remembering something, he pointed at Melody’s phone before his thin lips parted.
