Love Began with the First Meeting

Chapter 1371 Extra Story 126 Of Edgar A Trap

Henry had called his parents and found out that Edgar and Jerry had visited his house. That was why he didn't go back home but rented a room not far away.

The first thing Jerry did was to investigate the phone records of Henry's parents, according to Edgar's hunch. Second, he sought for the information from real estate agents nearby. Until tonight, he managed to find the house Henry rented. However, Edgar wasn't answering his phone, so he decided to come over. Henry was his soldier, so Jerry didn't want him to bear the military liability. When Jerry was at the bottom of the stair, he had heard a gunshot. An ordinary person would think that someone was just fooling around with firecrackers but as a professional, he knew that it was a gunshot.

Jerry turned his sight away from Edgar's pistol. He didn't believe that Edgar would kill Henry. But at this very moment, he had suspected Edgar was the one who shot Henry.

Meanwhile, Maggie was curled up on the sofa.

She held the TV remote and kept changing channels. She couldn't find the reason why she was feeling so jumpy.

"Maggie, dear, it's already late. Don't stay up." After doing the laundry, Hana had noticed that Maggie kept switching channels so she only shook her head helplessly. "There aren't much on the TV tonight. So why not sleep early? Then you can get up early. Tomorrow morning, you'll accompany me to the market to buy something and you'll have to bring it back. Perhaps, it won't be used here, but overseas..."

"Mom," Maggie interrupted her mother, putting down the TV remote. "They went abroad to get their diseases treated, not for pleasure. You don't need to buy those things." Maggie sighed and held Hana's arm. "I just couldn't fall asleep! I don't know why. Maybe I am so worried for my friend or Edgar. I feel anxious."

Upon hearing her words, Hana sat down on the sofa with Maggie. She said seriously, "To tell you the truth, I didn't agree when your dad wanted Edgar to be his son-in-law. But we have known Edgar so well since his childhood and you love him, so I didn't say anything about it." She saw Maggie touching her hand and continued, "However, he is in the special army. That's just how it is. No matter how dangerous and difficult the tasks are, they have to be the first ones to deal with them. I never doubted his ability, but I'm worried. You are too stubborn to listen to these words, but I am afraid that you will end up sad in the future."

Maggie understood her mother's words. Parents always wanted the best for their children and it had always been the parental instinct. She said, "Mom, life is as short as meteor showers. Since it's short, we have to make our lives worth living." Then she leaned on Hana's shoulder. "When a meteor flash in the night sky, it looks so small and weak but nobody can ignore its existence. That's why life is like meteor showers. It fades so fast but full of wonders." The corners of her mouth gradually curved into a smile. "One cannot decide someone else's destiny, but he can decide for his own. My life won't be as short as meteor showers, nor the relationship between Edgar and me will be. Others can't decide for us. Not even God. It's us who will get to decide."

Maggie stood up and looked at Hana with red eyes but with a smile nonetheless. "I can't make this meteor shower last forever, but I can choose to make my life shine brightly in the most splendid way. No one can predict the future. It's worthy being happy even if it turns sad later on. After all, it's my life and no one can take my place. And for me, it'll be the most beautiful story."

Hana was moved by Maggie's words and hugged her tightly. "My Maggie has indeed grown up. You're not that crazy little girl anymore. You chose to take a stand. I'm still not happy, but I believe you're right." Maggie chuckled with her red eyes. "Mom, don't be too sentimental! I'm getting the shivers, you know!"

Hana laughed and hugged her daughter again tightly. This was the love given by mothers to their children. The kind of love was selfless, always giving and supportive. It was full of warmth that it could melt one's heart.

All of a sudden, Maggie's phone rang which broke the mode. Hana let Maggie go and Maggie went to pick up her phone. She could only roll her eyes when she saw the number. She muttered, "How annoying."

Maggie finally put her phone on her ear and asked in a bad tone, "What? What do you need from me?"

Cain stood in front of the window in his hotel room. He was admiring the snowing night with a smile. "It's snowing."

Maggie groaned, frowning, "It was normal to snow in S City during winter."

A teasing smile played at the corners of Cain's mouth. He said mischievously, "You have mentioned that when it snowed, I should invite you to some beer and fried chicken."

Maggie went speechless for a while and almost choked. "I was just kidding!"

"Oh? So you were just kidding." Cain's voice turned into something sorrowful. "But unfortunately, I took it seriously."

Hana saw the look on Maggie's face and couldn't help but sigh secretly. She thought that Maggie had grown up since she got married, so she should take it easy and let her handle it. Before going back to her room, Hana gestured for Maggie to go to bed early after hanging up.

"Cain," Maggie said as she lay down on the sofa. "Tomorrow, you'll take the mother and son to the airport. You'd better go to sleep now."

"All right." It was one of those rare moments where Cain didn't refute her, but his voice was tinged with loneliness.

It was Maggie's personality that she would be strong when with strong people and gentle when with gentle ones. If Cain was being tough-headed again, she would have quickly dropped the call. However, his voice was full of sadness which hit a spot in her sympathetic heart. She thought it was pitiful of him to celebrate the Spring Festival alone. She couldn't help but say, "Wait. I changed my mind. You're such a poor guy. So where are we going to meet?"

"Ah. That's splendid! I'll come over to pick you up." Her words caused Cain smile. "I'll wait for you outside your house in fifteen minutes."

"All right then. See you." Maggie hung up and checked the screen. There were no messages from Edgar. So she sighed and went to change her clothes.

It was very cold outside and it was snowing. The snow thickly covered the ground and the trees. The wind blew strongly.

Maggie couldn't help but tremble. She pulled down her clothes and placed her hands inside her pockets and walked out of the yard. At a distance, she spotted the Ferrari Cain had been driving these days. She had spoken to Monica about Cain. It was true that he was handsome, tall, and rich, which made others green with envy. Some people would feel pressured if they ever made friends with such a man like him.

Maggie opened the car and got in. The temperature inside the car was warm enough for her to escape the cold.

"Are you really serious?" Maggie rolled her eyes. "I just heard the song played in that restaurant, so I said it casually as a joke."

"I would do everything I promised to do." Cain looked at Maggie intensely. "Unless I chose to play with you around

at first."
