Love Began with the First Meeting

Chapter 1302 Extra Story 57 of Edgar We Can Try

Maggie stared at Edgar in surprise, her mind had gone blank. She couldn't figure out what exactly was going on. For a while, she simply stared at his handsome face, trying to excavate some information from his expression. As they had been driving for quite a while, far

away from Eagle, eventually she cleared her throat and asked bluntly, "What is the problem?"

Edgar cast a plaintive glance in her direction. He was slightly annoyed by her question, however he controlled his inner feelings, turned his head forward and briefly replied with an aloof tone, "Maggie, why do you have to have so many questions?" He sounded quite indifferent. Maggie turned down her lips bitterly. She could tell that he was not in a mood to explain any details to her. She tilted her head slightly and could see the cold look in his eyes. The car's headlights illuminated the road ahead of them as they drove along in silence. Maggie was not offended at all, on the contrary, she was slightly amused by his reaction. She straightened her back and tried to sit more comfortably. He had bundled her into the car quite unceremoniously. Her mind was still quite muddled from the drinking, however, at the back of her mind, a voice was suggesting that Edgar might just be shy at the moment. The atmosphere in the car seemed awkward at the moment.

A timidly sweet smile cracked her face. Maggie's thoughts went wild, and her palms became even sweatier. She couldn't help thinking about the possibility of his next move. What would Edgar do to her? Would he actually give in to his lust and then... What would she do if that were the case? Should she hold out against him or play hard to get? Oh gosh! She was not ready to deal with this kind of situation at all! Would it be inappropriate if she actively responded to his desire? Would it be too much at this stage of their relationship?

These crazy thoughts instantly turned her face feverish. Maggie silently sucked air into her burning lungs and closed her eyes in awkwardness. Fortunately, the light was quite dim inside the car. She knew he hadn't noticed her strange behavior. Maggie quickly turned her head to the window. She really needed some time to calm herself down. The road was quite dark, and the patch of space ahead of the car was the only place being illuminated. She couldn't see clearly outside, however, her attention was uncontrollably caught by the vague reflection of Edgar on the windshield. His mouth did not move, instead he had a fixed and determined look on his face.

He had a rigid face and yet his lips seemed soft. They were not too fleshy, nor were they too sensual. They were just full, firm lips. Kissable lips. They were perfect, soft lips with passion. She remembered clearly how soft they were. The kiss which they shared in A City felt as though it had happened yesterday. Maggie's smile grew bigger as she thought of the past. Although it had happened several months ago, the memory remained fresh in her mind. The impulse she had back then was literally irresistible. The sweet thought of that passionate kiss would instantly bring a big smile to her face every now and then. She couldn't control her own feelings regarding it. The sweetness of her desire was so overwhelming that even her heart ached at the crazy memory.

Her unusual silence attracted his attention. Edgar found it quite strange that Maggie had all of a sudden become quiet and even timid. He turned his head slightly towards her direction and smirked, "Can you even see anything outside?" As a force of habit, whenever addressing her, he sounded rather sarcastic.

"Yeah, sure..." Maggie replied slowly. She sounded innocent and childish, which amused him greatly. As she gazed subtly, yet fondly, at Edgar's reflection on the windshield, she sighed in her heart, thinking, 'To me, you are the most attractive scenery along the road. I simply can't take my eyes off of you.'

Her crazy thoughts about him naturally brought a dreamy smile to her beautiful face. Sitting quietly by his side, she started to think about the possibility of going further than just kissing with him. If ever he were to push her down, what would she do? She didn't think she would have the capacity to say no to Edgar anymore. Maggie's face grew even redder. Her shoulders uncontrollably shivered due to joy and excitement as if something was really going to happen. She kept hinting to herself that things would get real soon. Although Edgar had said nothing to her yet, she could strongly sense the chemistry between them.

Something was definitely about to happen tonight. Maggie closed her eyes tightly. The next second, she opened them. Her long and curly eyelashes fluttered as she grinned silently to herself. 'Daddy, mummy, can you believe that your precious daughter is about to end her single life and has found herself an awesome partner?' she thought blissfully. The thought of being with Edgar pleased her greatly. Her eyes sparkled with joy. She was so happy at the thought that her grin became bigger and bigger. Suddenly, she burst out laughing and her childish laughter already rang out to fill the car before Maggie realized her foolishness.

Clearly, her unintentional noise had startled the driver, and the car screeched across the road, almost crashing into the nearby bushes.

Tires bit into the tar and ground to a halt. Their final agony was the sound of rubber rumbling on the road. Then followed the ominous ticking of a cooling engine. Thanks to her safety belt, Maggie didn't bump right into the dashboard in front of her. She was utterly startled by the situation. As she raised her head in shock, she forgot everything that had been on her mind before. What just happened? Why had he stopped the car like this? Her face was full of confusion and the wild thoughts about Edgar was now the least of her concerns. Maggie stared blankly at Edgar. Her eyes were wide open with shock. She looked around outside the windshield and said, "What just happened? Did you actually hit something on the road?" She released herself from the safety belt and was about to step out from the car to see what was going on. However, before she could reach for the door handle, a strong force pulled her back. She looked up and saw Edgar's cold face.

"How bad do you think my driving skill are? Why would I carelessly hit something on the road?" Edgar's voice was as cold as his look.

Maggie innocently pressed a hand to her ruby lips and then she looked directly into his dark eyes. With all her courage, she said to him word by word, "You cannot take things for granted... Anything can happen."

Her words fueled a strange fire in Edgar's heart. He muttered, "Damn it. I never take things for granted. You little brat, you broke my concentration!"

"What did you say?" She hadn't quite caught his words. "I didn't hear you clearly."

Edgar gave her a pointed look as he let go of her wrist. Then he turned his face to the front. The light in the car was so dim that she almost missed the strange fire burning in his eyes. Slowly, he said to her, "Maggie, have you made up your mind?" "What?" Maggie didn't know what to say. All she could do was to look at him with a dumbstruck expression. Sometimes, she'd feel as though neither of them were on the same page, but she lacked the courage to bring it up in conversation.

Edgar tilted his head slightly. His eyes fixed firmly on her beautiful face. Despite the dim light, he could still clearly see the confused look in her big brown eyes. "I said," he paused briefly and then continued calmly, "Maggie, do you want to be with me because you are grateful to me or is there something else?" His words were direct and his voice was deep, magnetic, and hypnotizing. He also sounded rather impatient. Ever since the day Maggie came into his life, he started to lose patience more easily than he used to. He had no idea why he often became this moody and restless whenever she was around. 00000
