Love Began with the First Meeting

After Anna said that, both Ann and Olivia turned to Elsa. Ann seemed fine, while Olivia was eagerly waiting for something. She was looking forward to seeing Quiet Misery of Dragon Flying. If not for the mistake, she couldn't imagine what would happen to her now. Surely, Olivia just imagined the encounter. How could she miss the chance to see him in person? If she had to leave the group and go on her own, she might not have the courage to do so. That was the reason why she wanted everyone to go with her. After pressing her lips, Elsa said, "Then, let's all go together!"

At the mention of Charlie's name, Elsa's expression had suddenly changed. "Yes."

"Silent Sorrow and Quiet Misery," Anna continued. "Is it possible that they are the same person?"

"Absolutely, not!" Olivia assured her while patting her chest. "I chatted with Quiet Misery before I started playing the game. But I made a mistake when I chose the server, and later I wasn't courageous enough to start again in the new server. I stayed loving him secretly for such a long time. Anna and Ann looked at each other and smiled knowingly. Anna argued back, "Well, you have never seen him before. How do you know who the person behind the screen is? If the person is Charlie, then you will be in competition with Elsa for him." She stole a glance at Elsa, then continued, "If not, perhaps he's a fat old man. Ha-ha!"

When the girls left the hall, it was already half-past seven in the evening. Each of them carrying a suitcase, they went to the railway station. Except for Ann, all the girls were from middle-class families. Since Olivia was faced with some financial constraint recently, they decided to take the train. They would spend the night on the train, which would arrive in the morning. By doing so, they would also save the expense of a night in the hotel.

Charlie stood leaning against the bonnet of his car with his hands in his pockets. His head slightly lowered, and his heavy bangs covered his deep eyes. It was dusk, and the soft yellow street lamps cast a golden hue on his body, giving him a mystical appearance. "Charlie! Charlie!" someone called out joyfully to him. It was Evelyn. She was wearing an expensive white blouse made of chiffon and a pair of denim shorts. She sprinted over to her brother happily and hugged his arm. "Let's wait for Bess. She's taking the same flight as us."

Charlie smiled softly and nodded. "Is she coming to the airport now?"

"She needs to go back home first." She let go of Charlie's arm and got into the car, sitting in the driver's seat. "Let's eat first."

Charlie opened the door to the passenger side, and when he was about to get into the car, he saw Elsa and her roommates.

They were chattering while walking out of school. One of the girls said something, and Elsa's eyes opened wide, and her mouth gaped open. When the girls saw her reaction, they immediately broke into laughter.

It had been four days since they had last met, and he missed her so much. At the sight of Elsa, Charlie felt an aching pang in his heart.

"What?" Evelyn was in the car so that she couldn't see Elsa. Even when she tried to stick her head out of the window, her vision was blocked by the car parked beside theirs.

"Nothing." Charlie got into the car and closed the door.

Evelyn didn't believe him. This time, she leaned across Charlie and looked out from the window on his side. Finally, she saw her. "It's Elsa! My sister-in-law!" she shouted excitedly. She looked at Charlie, whose expression had turned gloomy. Poking at him, she offered, "Do you need my help?"

Charlie smiled helplessly. "Help? I'm helping you to solve all kinds of issues. Just drive!"

Evelyn pouted. She sat up straight and started the engine. "Okay. It's fine that you don't want my help. How can you say something so mean about me? I'll tell Addison!" she grumbled.

While Evelyn complained about Charlie's ill-treatment of her, she turned the headlights on and drove onto the road. At that moment, Elsa had recognized the car. However she wasn't sure if Charlie was in the car or not. Before she had the chance to see, the vehicle had disappeared off into the darkness.

"What happened, Elsa?" Anna, being a sympathetic person, sensed that Elsa wasn't quite herself.

Elsa recovered from the temporary daze and forced herself not to think of Charlie. "It's nothing. Let's go."

The four of them hailed a taxi to the railway station. Along the way, they continued to chatter while Elsa sat quietly with her thoughts preoccupied with something else. 'Tomorrow will be the start of the three-day holiday. The gathering will be held in two days. If Evelyn is going to be there, then Charlie will most likely be going as well.

After all, he wouldn't allow Evelyn to go alone, 'Elsa thought.

When the thought crossed her mind, Elsa had become slightly upset. She didn't know why she was sulking or why she felt envious. She was supposed to use the four days to think everything through. Elsa seemed to manage just fine when Charlie wasn't around. But the very moment he appeared, she would become confused and feel suffocated with the bittersweet and painful feeling that suddenly came from nowhere.
