Chapter 1040 Extra Story 21 Of Sweetness Between Bri and Mol Legally Married
To make it worse, Charlie hurt her more by saying, "Mom, you'd better admit that, because Dad says the truth. Uncle Daniel referred to the marriage certificate. He means that he is going to get married, but you haven't figured it out by now. Alas, I wonder if Evelyn inherited your IQ. That would be bad!" While saying that, he even shook his head regretfully and looked at Evelyn with sorrowful eyes, as if he felt very sorry for his sister. He thought that the reason why Evelyn seemed to be very different from the rest of the Long Family was because she inherited their mother's stupidity. Truly, for him, her sister was pitiful. "Great..." Molly said, pulling a long face and rolling her eyes. "Charlie Long, you're doomed as well!"
Finding that his mother was really angry, Charlie pouted, flashed his puppy eyes, and gently took her hand. In a sweet, innocent voice, he said, "All right, mom, Charlie is wrong... Can you forgive me, please?"
Hearing that, Molly didn't know whether she should laugh or cry. Rolling her eyes, she wondered where Charlie inherited such tricks. Brian was a cold-blooded and cruel man, while she was plain and was without any outstanding feature. However, Charlie was like neither of them. He was just like a devil, and he always had the ability to get someone do his own bidding.
On their way from the training ground to the guest house, laughter and scolding came burst out now and then. However, everything was affectionately done--between lovers, between family. The sounds of chatters filled the space they were in, and everyone who was in the space felt relaxed. They could not ask for anything more at that moment.
"Excuse me, sir!"
"Come in!" Daniel answered promptly and authoritatively. After doing so, he quickly raised his eyes to look at Brian, who was beside him. He chuckled out of embarrassment. The reaction was due to the fact that while he was inferior to his brother-in-law, here, he was a military officer and was superior to many people.
As a member of the Long Family, although he was not necessarily in Dragon Island, Brian's influence in the whole world couldn't be written off. Otherwise, it would have been unnecessary for him to take this trip before Daniel and Cathy could apply for their marriage certificate.
Hearing Daniel's answer, the soldier standing at the door walked into the room and gave Daniel the customary military salute. Then, he looked at Brian and Molly and reported, "General Gu invites Mr. Brian Long and Mrs. Molly Xia to meet him." Turning his eyes to look at Daniel, he continued, "The captain of Falcon Commando is invited too."
"Okay," Brian answered. Then he asked casually, "When will General Gu arrive?"
The soldier seemed to be surprised to hear such a question. After a few moments of silence, he answered respectfully, "He will arrive in twenty minutes, sir!"
It would also take about twenty minutes for them to get to Edgar's office from the guest house. As usual, Edgar had estimated the time precisely and made use of every minute, insistent on not wasting any valuable time.
"Well..." Daniel felt sorry for Brian, who probably had never been so passive in his life but now had to go to meet his chief in person for his sake. "My brother-in-law..." Daniel wanted to say something to express his feelings.
"Now I'm nobody but your brother-in-law," Brian said in a plain tone. Then he carried Evelyn in his arms and gave Molly a hint with his eyes. They walked out together.
Daniel didn't leave right away. Standing where he had been, he was still digesting what Brian had said just now. Once upon a time, he had hated this man very much. It had been because of Brian's sudden appearance in their lives that his family had become more troublesome. It had also coincided with the time he had gotten addicted to "Dream". However, things had changed. Hearing Brian be so casual towards and around him, he suddenly felt how lucky they were and how they should be grateful that such a man had entered the life of his elder sister and had become their family member.
While he was still thinking, Daniel's hand was pulled by something. With his thoughts interrupted, he looked down at who was pulling his hand and he saw that it was Charlie, whose face was contorted with confusion. With a bright smile, he bent down to carry Charlie in his arms. While walking out to catch up with the others, he said, "Charlie, in the future, you should be a boy who treats girls well." Looking at Brian, who was walking side by side with Molly with Evelyn in his arms, he added, "Just like your dad does."
Hearing that, Charlie raised his eyebrows. "Of course. I'm sure to treat the girl I like very well..." he said seriously. "Less well than I treat Evelyn, though!" However, after saying that, Charlie quickly felt there was something wrong with his words. Because of that, he corrected himself quickly. "No," he started. "I will treat the girl I like as well as I treat Evelyn."
Hearing that, Daniel smiled and nodded in agreement.
Molly and Edgar hadn't seen each other for a few years. After all, the military region had strict discipline, where nobody could enter or exit at will. For fear of causing any trouble, she seldom came here to see Daniel. In most cases, Daniel went to her place during his vacation. However, since Daniel was the captain of Falcon Commando, he didn't have many chances to take a vacation. Therefore, they hadn't seen each other frequently.
"Cathy is busy dealing with something unexpected. It is estimated that she would be here in half an hour..." Edgar explained while making a pot of tea for Brian by himself. Then he turned his eyes to look at the twins. "Daniel showed me their photos some time ago. I didn't expect that they have grown a lot since then..." It was very satisfying for him to see Molly thrive and be happy. His affections towards her had never changed. When she had been young, she had liked being with him and called him "Brother Edgar", but she had changed thoroughly when he had met her when she had been older. Although in the end he could do nothing but give up fighting for her, he still hoped she would live a happy life.
"That is exactly how children grow. They change every day..." Molly said. Looking at Edgar seriously, she shifted the topic of conversation, "Brother Edgar, you're old enough to start a family. Now even Daniel is going to get married. When do you plan to settle your private problem?"
"His private problem has become a key performance index for his annual review," Daniel butted in. "The chief of the military region said that if he doesn't solve the problem, he will be transferred to a government office."
Edgar had been born to be a warrior on the battlefield. It was not suitable for him to hold a civilian post as he had done as a major before. However, according to Daniel, it seemed that his superior leader cared about his personal happiness very much and was determined to make him married as soon as possible. With these thoughts in her mind, Molly could not help but chuckle.
"How could you say that to your sister?!" Edgar said to Daniel.
"Well..." Daniel smiled. Then looking at Brian, he said, "My brother-in-law, Cathy is too busy working and cannot take time off, so we plan to hold our wedding ceremony on the training grounds." Quickly, he took a look at Edgar and then looked back at Brian, his eyes knowing. "Well, it is easy for Cathy's younger sister to come here, since she has worked in the basic level unit during her internship. However, her mother..."0000000
